before dj gregory was point g. point g is an alias used by the french produced to explore a gritty, raw sound steeped in abstract vibes but with a very basic approach, which makes it all the more captivating making a strong impact on the underground scene in the 90s, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw ep, on the raw again ep…. originals vinyl copies of many of point gs early tracks are notoriously hard to find, giving this comeback even more kudos.

the utopia project, yet another one of many pseudonyms for legendary producer rheji burrell of burrell brothers fame. all 4 of the files contained within this ep bear the classic hallmarks and sounds of the burrell brothers signature style, taut drum programming, deep, melodic synth washes, bass-lines from the darkest recesses of nycs streets and dance-floors and an instantly recognizable atmosphere. like much of the brothers output these tracks are designed to be heard either very, very late at night or in the early hours of the morning and are some of the defining sounds of new yorks underground night-clubs in the formative parts of the 1990s. a true underground house record, over 20+ years old and still sounding as fresh and current as ever, file 1 is now available again for 2015, re-mastered and re-pressed with the permission of and in conjunction with the burrell brothers / nu-groove records, new york city.

*jingo* is an all-time classic dance record, sampled, edited, re-configured and coveted by too many names to mention! it’s a killer funky disco version of master nigerian drummer olatunjis 1969 percussion suite of the same name, salsoul style, while over on the flip we have one of the deepest disco records of all time, *thousand finger man* a testament to candidos percussion prowess and a spacey, beautiful voyage that has left more than an indelible mark on modern house music, often being cited as a huge influence by artists such as masters at work and more. essential stuff basically, every collection should have a copy! this 12 inch has got to be one of the toughest salsoul records to find. changing hands for up to £300 a time for a used copy. now it has been re-mastered, re-pressed and made available again with all original label artwork intact with the permission of salsoul records, new york city.

this 12inch is a best of his metaphor recorded material, which was released on r & s records in 1995. again four tracks have been selected, three dancefloor tracks, incl the classic >soulman< and one deeper cut >sympathy<. another slice of essential techno history on 12inch (and remastered by dexter) for the first time.

produced by steve poindexter and coming from the depths of chicagos 1991 underground comes sex chants, a killer 6 track ep of soulful, sleazed out box jams on poindexters tiny chicago bad boys records imprint. an extremely varied ep, sex chants has it all vocal cuts, oddball chi-town jackers, soulful, deep sounds and straight up raw dance-floor cuts, all steeped in that lo-fi, bedroom like quality that weve all come to appreciate. sex chants is a very sought after release and this is the first time the ep has been re-issued and re-mastered. this re-release has been done in conjunction with chicago bad boys and features the original 1991 label artwork. a true underground deep house gem, overlooked and now made available again

with the bizarre feeling ep laying the sound for the subsequent fist year of the label, it is right jamie returns with ep#2 to move things forward with another twisted take on his unique mutoid-protoid-machine-funk-groove. starting with mad obsession you would be forgiven for thinking you ll have bizarre feeling part 2, with warped vocals - taken from late night, half asleep scribbled notes - and space echo haze, but let the percussion work-out trip you up and the stars in and before you know it things start going leftfild and then deeper with the free party sound system bass line shuffl of time nearly time. what he is on (about), no one knows. it is on the flp however that things take a darker turn. beyond the confession booth, down sharp stairs and dripping ceiling to a red light lit room of latter day late night blues.

after many uk based producers, its time again for some homeboys. elvis is a young dj and producer from zurich/switzerland and his humney ep is his first full release to date.humney is that catchy house tune with a touch of the 90s house sound, with a great bass line, sexy vocals (from the lovely choklate) and solid beats. the up and coming palace (hot haus records) adds a rougher vibe with his remix, but its still humney. the way is taking a deeper direction and shows that elvis cassetta is definitely a name to watch out for!

nerolis quest for unique sounds this time leads to shannon harris of urbanicity. his rare previous releases being a favourite here at the neroli headquarter. the chicago artist delivers an spacey electric version of his classic kinetic energy, while on the other side he goes real spiritual with the incredible suite that is into the light. you will be entranced by charles stepneys grand daughter brandice manuels divine voice and then brought back to funk in a way that once again proves shannons originality.

these guys definitely know what they mean by love it and the motor city gets new names again. stuttgarts nico brun shows with his debut deeper ep the young hearts passion for house music. the title track rolls warm through your mind and hypnotizes with the prayer to house.

tribal roots is the eighth and latest ep release from batti batti records. its a four-track affair once again this time featuring label stalwarts owen jay and melchior sultana alongside percussionist antoine with an infectious perc-driven number, whilst rai scott (inner shift/minuendo) debuts with the deliciously dreamy and enchanting depth of the ocean. both 1dan and marco nega, meanwhile, make welcome returns to the label, the former with the twisted yet insanely groovy recovery process and the latter with the sumptuously soulful inside out featuring leen vivid!

the third release from wavefreform again comes to us from the east, and this time around it marks a reformation of sound for both the label and the artist. half of the long-running georgian duo greenbeam & leon, boyd schidt is a producer with over a decade of work already under his belt whose first releases emerged in 2007. as a solo artist, his career dates to 2010 with digital releases on georgia’s front rec, fvf records, and emote music, and a track on the new vinyl compilation from studio r°. with the hard, broken kick pattern, elevated tempo, and nods to electro, the a-side ‘phantom’, a collaboration with subex, is a change of pace for the artist and the hardest thing yet to emerge from wavereform. dubwise use of effects shows the same hands still at work, but the sound elements, granulated blasts of static and drop-based structure of the track hold strong parallels to the rejuvenated techno sound currently emerging from the uk. the b-side, ‘structure’, recalls the previous work of the artist: subtle, building dub techno rich in detail and with the dancefloor firmly in mind. there is clear experience at work here with his deliberate deployment and manipulation of elements as the track struts along while enveloping the listener in its smaller details. as it pauses and takes an extended breakdown, the details rush forwards, but it finds renewed force to power itself to the close. coming in this case from an established producer with a long history, this kind of control is not surprising, but it is more indication of the riches of the east that have yet to be discovered by audiences worldwide.

roots for bloom label boss jamie trench kicks off the label offshoot rfbcolours with a collaboration ep alongside rebel. the a side tracks come from jamie himself. -good love- has a stripped back garage feel with a jacking and filtered vocal carrying it, then stapled brings things across with a more techno feel with strong stabs and background drifting chords. the b side is where we see rebel s input, with the rolling and infectious in the end . the groove is again stripped back and simple but it s this that carries the vocal that demands your attention. the two then pair up for we don t fly first class and it s apparent to hear in the track where the two come together well. this one is driven by a huge sub bass line and simple stabs and talking and seductive vocal lines.

top tier hawaiian disco boogie masterpiece available for the first time on 45. it took us 3 years to persuade nohelani cypriano to let us do *lihue* , a brilliant fairly obscure disco boogie track but if you are a fan and you keep trying your enthusiasm for the music pays off. not only are we are just delighted to present *lihue* on 7 for the first time (previously lp only) but to top it off the flip is a track from a very rare hawaiian 45 also by nohelani called *playing with fire*, which sounds like a party track straight out your favorite 80s film. i rate it, which means it is good! its like rare-groove scene all over again but with new records.

long-serving french talent philippe petit is welcomed to figure spc with this dextrous and inventive four-track ep. petit is the owner of the knotweed and decision making theory labels, enjoying a busy schedule as a fine purveyor of edgy, melodic and classic techno stylings. we look forward to more to come from mr. petit!
