the find of the year? hidden amongst the master tapes for that roberta flack song written by stevie was stevie s own guide vocal, never heard of until now.. not just a basic guide vocal, but a full on, passionate stevie performance that makes this sound like a long lost stevie classic, overshadowing roberta s sweet vocal delivery, taking this soul masterpiece to new heights. with stevie on drums and keys also, the master at the top of his game. on the flip side, a classy slice of philly disco, reflexed without the rather dated and cheesy linda clifford song, focusing on the killer grooves and morphing it into a horn / guitar riff laden track, hands in the air style!

london based imprint bordel ensemble (limited series only) is back after one year with yet another ep by lodee gruv, alias of one of the label’s founder. the second release is stamped 003 as the bordel002 will be a compilation of music by all the artists of the label coming out later in 2016. two side / three tracks ep. on side a, lodee gruv confirms once again his style with an atmospheric raw and floor friendly 8 minutes rhythm . on side b he takes it up a notch with 95% analog generated drums and baseline groove toped by a progression of 3 notes sample melody leading to an slightly emotional pattern. the second track of side b is a lodee gruv signature, deeper and tripier somehow with samples twicked into different elements backed up by a gimmick changing low end drums. definitely a journey into lodee gruv’s mind and bordel ensemble spirit.

london-based mike misiu has had a handful of stellar yet secret releases under his belt, and now this squirrel is finally getting his nut with his rnt debut! the a side launches into a churning and chugging rendition of a donald byrd 70s jazz soul classic, followed by a cheekily infectious treatment of well-loved modern themes, while the flip kicks into high gear with two uptempo soulful stompers.

nycs legendary sam records dropped the mysteriously named k.i.d.s dont stop- in 1981. it has it all trancey arpeggios, vocoders & vocals trading off with each other, brass & some heavyweight disco drums that helped propel it forth into the hallowed category of club classic. the record perfectly suited the open minds and open ears of discerning disc jocks in locales such as new york and chicago where this sublime piece of electronic disco sleaze would get plenty burn on the city s infamous wbmx thus having a huge impact, along with a whole host of other similar records, on the burgeoning house scene that was germinating in the fertile mid western soil. b-side cut do it again is a pleasant enough early 80 s disco jam, but compared to the futuristic burner that is dont stop on the other side theres one clear winner. a must have for all cosmic, disco, funk aficionados. now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with sam records new york city.

ts10 is the 1st ep of the toneseries project. born from the collaboration between french music producer, live performer and dj - david k, and lumièreslanuit s co-founder and an der grenze s founder - edouard morin. however, it isn t clear which artist from their extended crew stands behind this 1st release, as if the berlin-based music label wanted to focus on the music rather on the artist. ts10 consists of two tracks, both deep and groovy. whereas ailleurs disseminates the perfect warm-up groove, desert snowflakes fires off a more dancefloor-driven vibe. with regard to the artwork, as shown on the cover, each track has its own colour. there is neither a a nor a b-side. the same applies to the record vinyl itself. each track stands on it own. as a result, ailleurs and desert snowflakes distinguish themselves from each other through their vibes and colours, although they remain in the same spirit. in summary, toneseries brings together the idea of interdependence between music and design: what colour follows on from music and, in return, which musicality comes out of colours.

monoton ‘monotonprodukt 02’, also known as mp02, is the debut album of austrian electronic maverick konrad becker. out in 1980 it was a precursor of the minimal techno dub sound that was starting to be popular more than 15 years after. the album has been reissued by desire a couple of years ago and a new pressing is in the work. anyway it’s time to launch a remix ep with new (and not so new) producers giving crédit to the work of the austrian master. on the a side we find 3 new artists paying their dues : sergie rezza, whose debut album out on desire was critically acclaimed, abdulla rashim (abdulla rashim records / northern electronics / semantica) and also opal tapes’ boss stephen bishop own basic house. the b-side is a great megamix of the album tracks by the one and only ambient/electronica veteran scanner !

reissue of one of amsterdam’s most respected producers steve rachmad aka sterac s essential 1996 detroit style techno classic. remastered and housed in full color artwork. tip! originally released on stalwart dutch techno label, 100% pure (then entitled primus / osirion), this one has been getting plays by a fresh new wave of deep digging djs over the past years. this timely re-issue was needed. the a side osirion, is built on a classic drum loop layered with rachmad style arppegiators and euphoric strings. the b side features a more abstract 909 detroit infused loop, full of heavy synths and percussion. both tracks have stood the test of time and sound fresh as ever.

after the release of their album -black ships- earlier this year tokyo black star cybersamurais alex and isao are returning to the mothership innervisions with their new 12 inch. -caballero- is tune from the album with a brand new mixdown by andreas schorpp and Âme plus a little edit-help from dixon. on the b-side radio slave delivers a fantastic remix of -caballero- which transfers the repetitive and hypnotic patterns he is known for with an exotic more cosmic sounding touch. all in all we think that this is definitely the best tokyo black star release we ever had in our hands.
