a year and a half after black merlin (george thompson) opened the common thread series with the much praised new world fantasy / ice house release george sent over some adventurous bits for a follow up and we were immediately sold. george is a true artist in his own right. all of the black merlin tracks evoke different sentiments. this time around the feeling it bring up is very conflicted. both tracks have those dark aesthetics with elements of paranoia and both also share some apocalyptic elements. it is for this reason that this is the perfect follow up for ct01. instead of just releasing music on vinyl we (with the blessings of zoroaster) are looking to evoke spirits, cross boundaries and maintain quality. major cliches, but with an artist like black merlin on your books, cliches sometimes become truth.

the faze action brothers released their fifth studio album entitled body of one last year and to continue the celebration they have recruited some heavy weight talents to give their spin on three tracks from that album. first, the brothers take on the remix duties of magic touch, giving it a dub house reboot that could be the sound track to countless sunsets this summer. next up is a deft dub mix of the same track by maxidiscs cohort and globe trotting dj, dicky trisco. on the flip side we have the balearic powerhouse that is phil mison, remixing echoes of your mind into an electronic, down tempo feast with additional bass, guitar and keyboard played by the man himself. the final mix on this 12inch is provided by emotional response curator and head honcho stuart leath under his chuggy guise, delivering an organic dub mix of faze actions floating world

the first release from the new malka tuti record label introduces us to xen, a multi talented multi cultural singer, artist and designer from tel aviv. for her debut ep she went into the studio with the red axes lads to produce 2 original tracks for the a side as well as 2 different versions on the b side. after already collaborating with them on their track -this is it- for a correspondant records compliation on 2014, this time she takes a step forward and really brings out her post-cold-wave-some-wave attitude and delivers 2 psychedelic poppy tracks, highly influenced by german krautrock as well as british and french post-punk and israeli late 80s new-wave. on the b-side you can find a massive dancefloor remix from the red axes themselves as well as a secret psychedelic voodoo b-side.

denis kaznacheev is better known as one half of the russian duo easy changes. hes also the co-founder of nervmusic. he advocates a very organic and powerful minimal techno and makes use of his modular system on his own and unique way. denis cooks a mix of emotions to your ears and to the floor. waiting for his visa application between siberia and moscow hes been doing some music for us and we love it. he offered to bring us on its journey with brilliant textures and a superb sounding ep.

here we have a timely re-release of this much overlooked, later period oliver ho title – this eight track doublepack comes in with a full picture sleeve at a superb price and has a fantastic mixture of styles that reminds of christian morgenstern at his *miscellaneous+ best whilst easily demonstrating its uk techno pedigree.

number three in the four part schleiben series from emotional response arrives with dont dj and tropical hi-fi at the controls. the former is the current creative endeavour of florian meyer, founder of the diskant label and one of the more experimental and academic producers to surface from dusseldorf in recent times. he also forms one third of the durian brothers. meyers kosmose is a 20 minute piece which explores the link between polyrhythmic percussion and brooding electronics understandably, its ripe with introspective qualities. offering some contrast, northern australian producer tropical hi-fi turns in oceanic mythology, a meandering journey through found sounds, psychedelia, folk music and more which sounds like listening to sued b-sides whilst tripped out on acid.

deeper, harder, warmer... here comes a sixth release from serie limitee records: 250 copies only this time, still 180g and pressed loud. this time, the label is paying its respects to chicago by signing a track from legendary jordan fields. jemaho, also pays tribute the windy city with a jazzy pearl, >from dee to chee<. on the b side, the sl family is glad to welcome two new members: 99letters, a japanese techno talent, and uncle deep for some classic deep vibes. as always, expect a mysterious bonus track by the label manager, monsieur cedric.

official re-issue of larry heards the housefactors project!another one of his classics!raw and relentless tracks that went so far from any electronic dance music from that period that to date this is still recognized as larry heards signature sound. with his mr fingers and fingers inc. projects going towards club use, this and his gherkin jerks showed another side of him maybe a darker side,but for sure a more raw and different side with music that sounds as if it came from another planet.jacking tracks that to date only larry heard have made like this. many producers have been inspired or tried imitate his sound with all good intentions, but still, gherkin jerks and the housefactors are some of the most unique projects in house music history. play it loud originally came out in 1988 (!) on black market records. and how cool is it to see an official re-issue on the original label by the original guys who did this almost 25 years ago!eternal respect to larry heard and a big thanks to black market records for making this important record available again.

kojiki groove is magnesiis second release on chronocircle. compared to his previous circle002, this is more of a club orientated 12inch rather than its hypnotic psych-techno predecessor. magnesii makes hypnotic music, preferably in a space out of time and reality. embracing the absence of computers and screens, the absence of any digital window into the world. some magnesii tracks form a conceptual whole, circle002 is an example of this: its a piece of music made to epitomize a psycho-dramatic hallucinate trip from the past. sounds to emulate saturated and hypnotic imagery

finally hydergine joins the knotweed records family! hydergine (aka roberto corizzo) is a techno producer from southern italy. he is best known for producing raw dub techno, and has come up with a string of fantastic releases in the last 3 years on labels such as separate skills and ranges.we have been talking to each other since the early days of knotweed records, trying to find the right tracks for the label. roberto approached us at the beginning of the year with some tracks that were a bit -different- than his usual productions: he was experimenting, and we liked it a lot. that s how the gamma experiments e.p. was born.the a side of the gamma experiments e.p. is a heavy atmospheric techno bomb. both tracks on the b side have more an acid feeling to them, incorporating weird arps, rawness and pad trips.enjoy the ride!

a second release of the year for the emergent common dreams label sees reedale rise producer simon keat join the fold with a pair of thoughtful, pensive deep house cuts. lead track -pressure box- is the track with a sense of unpredictable funk, giving us juicy chords, starry-eyed pads and an overall nice atmosphere with the drums moving ever forward. the b-side azikiwe fuses sporadic arpeggiations with some very thoughtful chord melodies. maybe it could be described as having a more psychedelic twist. another fine house record from the common dreams team.

steve murphys curiously long shadow casts itself ever further over the realms of gritty house and techno with a barn-storming follow up on the lobster theremin core series, this time ratcheting up the tempo and rhythm to epic levels. shed-esque kicks thunder over asteroid-crumbling basslines, crackling wooden percussion is slammed into the muggy dirt and leaves, seriously filthy, rolling numbers for the all night crew.
*uk treatment* kicks and thumps in all the right places, with a stuttering synth stab loop and vocals giving it some serious peak time currency. *spleen* is all sludgy, skittering mpc business, while *rules* goes off-key chicago and *total recall 2084* swims around, pestered in the mud until a lonely, droning piano key scares away the flanged swarm of wasps and noise.

slowmotion is born from a collaboration between hakim murphy and vince noog. noog has been rocking more on the techno tip over the years with releases on his label, but when the collaboration took place, beat-down feels appeared causing some house jams to develop. the ep is called beats from lugdunum, but why? lugdunum is the old school name for lyon and the surrounding areas, and these tunes were conceptualized, composed, and beated right there.

after kicking off their label in style with burnski s your love backed up by remixes from trus me and steve o sullivan, constant sound use their second release to showcase a pair of up and coming producers from newcastle., a scott & richard rowell. mrs j has been burning a hole in burnski s bag for some time now, waiting for the right opportunity to get unleashed on the public good and proper. the quality of the production belies the youth of the pair behind this addictive, bumping tech-house cut, although years spent as residents for the jaunt parties in newcastle and london have undoubtedly fed into the quality of their sound.

danny worrall‘s masterworks music imprint is set to press it’s first vinyl, just in time for some summer love. the four-track ep will pulled together a selection from their vol.1 compilation, a season-fitting jam from dr. packer‘s boogie grinder ep, and a brand new cut from the on fire get down edits boys which will be exclusive to the vinyl as well as cuts by midnight riot’s yam who? & coutel… the new label has already released a sturdy batch of modern disco and house music and has upcoming ep’s in the pipeline from the likes of dave gerrard, rayko, queen & disco and p-sol to be on the lookout for.

after several acclaimed eps on some of europe s greatest labels, such as local talk, faces, mile high and his own rawthenticity, it s now on the hong kongs most prominent label fragrant harbour that fulbert has decided to land with a truly raw piece of house music. meticulously sampled and arranged with the help of analog gears, days of being wild got this very special saturated low-fi sound, very characteristic of one of the most promising talent to have emerged onto the french electronic scene in recent times.

the second part in the hudd traxx 10th anniversary *now & then* compilation sees tracks from luna city express, sek, iz & diz and rick wade. berlin duo luna city express serve up a lush deep house groove that builds throughout the track, and will bring a smile to the faces of those who follow them on their beloved moon habour recordings. sek uses slick beats, trippy leads, a driving bassline and some *thug life* vocals to ensure this one has future classic written all over it. go back in time (to 2006 to be precise) on the then side to find iz & dizs *happy*. the words epic & journey are often misused in music but both can be mentioned about this track. it had devastating effect on first release and is set to do the same again nearly 10 years later. rick wade closes things out in fine style to fly the detroit flag on an all chicago / detroit side.

next up on titanic city, needs no introduction, nigel rogers aka perseus traxx has been a staple part on most record bags, a man dedicated to performance outside the box, has produced one of the greatest releases we will surely drop all year. some kind comments in our direction had to surly be returned with a request for a release and did he deliver. nigels first question was *what do you like* - *well we love your m>o>s, bunker, photic fields, snuff trax material*, he returned with a little bit of all. i am not gonna give the whole soaring pads, scraping percussive smears or the frenzied synth lines. this is perseus traxx he always delivers!! there is a rough and raw diy feel to this music that makes it jump out of the speakers and arrest your attention, as is always the case with titanic city.

jj&j return on 12 inch after knocking us sideways with last years double lp. there is true finesse (as ever) in these tempod productions, with fabulous synth layering throughout and some of those ravey details they lace in so well for the more expanded dancers ... up and out there.

spilt milk return with their second release from mr spilt milk himself tred benedict. tred drops a tasty original track full of groove and energy, alot like the man himself. on remix duties, label favourite marcashken turns a wonderful interpretation and the awesome mihai popoviciu takes things up a notch with a classy techno work out. the final track is another original but this time in collaboration with label partner st. bernard, with the pair dropping a rather murky minimal number with some choice words from one of their idols.

we welcome to the label two extremely talented sound sculptors from mexico, kaban & di rugerio. both boast a string of innovative sounds released on some top notch labels, but here they have teamed up to bring us something really special. *overflow* is a swirling nemesis of a track, with crashing drums and tribal percussion flowing around huge electrical pulses that inject pure energy into the dancefloor.
boom merchant follows up last years hugely successful *stars/green symphony* with another perfect balance of rhythmic and melodic elements. *surge* is a track that always generates a huge reaction, built around a tight groove with plenty of action in the low end. it is literally smeared with electrical charge and doused in layers of harmonic goodness.

after 1 good year of hiatus & celebrating its 6th year in the game, room with a view is back in full effect with a very special 3 tracker by kyodai, a duo that has been gathering serious momentum after highly celebrated releases on local talk, exploited, freerange or pokerflat to name a few. the famous brother pair has proven to be working hard in the last years recording, remixing & touring extensively. reknown for their energitic live performances & to have deliver tracks & remixes that have been played by the who s who of the global house scene, kyodai have decided to choose rwav to deliver some very personal tracks. in 2013 already, they appeared on our label with the uplifting what you give that became on of the key tracks of the live sets of the last 2 years.

italian conquerors giovanni verrina and germano ventura after releasing music in some of the most interesting labels on the market they decide to open a side project for their own taste of music, focusing on needs of djs and dancefloors. double 12 inch debut release of howl called uno represents funk and techno influenced groovy dancefloor materials on the higher level as usual.

rising label 04 is coming with a very complete ness ep which includes a ben gibson remix. >chronoscope< is the intro track that opens the release, a beautiful landscapes piece where ness shows his love and dexterity for the ambient music. following, >pantropy< is already starting with a heavy kick, far voices layered between the percussions and a sweet melody developing and coming up with that >trancey< touch that ness is able to do. on the b side comes >uchronia<, the track from where the release take the name, a strong broken track with shaped and dynamic percussions where some >chronoscope< landscapes are used flowing as the track goes on. to close the ep ben gibson delivers a classy >uchronia< remix going simple but effective, a perfect balance between gibson style and ness track that totally works out on the floor and makes the prefect closing track for that release.

ltd to 100 copies --- the eight heulsuse comes by hanne & lore themselves, boasting with some cripsy kickdrums and distinctive bars to keep the dancefloor bouncing. *samara* should definitely roil up the whole zone with the venturesome title track itself. but just in order to clean it up again, the b-side brings the avowed style back to the next level - the clue is in the name with *come clean*. the tape release includes a download code.

shadeleaf continues, with a strident 7 out of 7 on the scoreboard! following a stunning (and sell-out !) ep earlier last year, the north easts answer to michigans finest, steps up again, with probably his strongest work to date. mannmademusic became known very quickly, over the space of a few low key, but expertly realised edits releases for the likes of glenview, lumberjacks in hell & diner city sounds. this ep sees him continue wearing his influences proudly, but re-imagine them in an altogether rawer framework - samples woven together, augmented and redefined, some of it following the classic kdj blueprint but laid out in a style thats all his own. those familiar loops submerged and unfurling, rubbing up against altogether more off-kilter but coherent workouts, sat alongside perfectly measured electronic jams all combining into an ep that stands head and shoulders above the competition. another shadeleaf sureshot!

new imprint special edition launches in some style with a top release from the rather talented, emerging italian producer kiu d. this guy has been grabbing a lot of influential peoples attention recently and it is not surprising on this kind of devastating form. the man can produce and has a fine taste in music to match. pulling on influences from funk, disco and house music, he turns out 3 top class jams with super hi fidelity that are destined to set any dance floor on fire. definitely one to look out for and a great start for special edition!
