�blackmouth� is the live version of the classic soul/disco sampling house tune. take the work of others who came before you and turn it into a danceable jam. �got blues?� uses the work of a blind 1930s blues bongo player to form a weirdo repetitive rhythm tool: another example of using a forgotten artist for one�s own gain. the titular song, �co-opted & exoticized� plays on the classic preacher vocal track.

karim sahraoui, known by releases on labels such as transmat, cocoon and arts, as well as dj appearances on boiler room and on dancefloors all around the world, makes his debut on off recordings. book of life is a melodic techno track in karim s signature style. warm and emotional, albeit with a strong drive for the dancefloor, it can set a strong accent in a set. italy s dast created a slamming peaktime techno interpretation, which is sure to create a massive effect on the dancefloor. syncopated chords and a rolling groove build towards an epic break. -exodus- is aptly named as a perfect track to close the set by the end of the night. lush and warm pads and melodies evoke a warm and optimistic atmosphere. anton pieete remixed exodus with a minimalistic and more groove-focused interpretation. altogether an ep with a timeless feel, spanning the borders between techno, house and electronica.

the 1978 record, which goes for up to $800 on the collectors market, comes with a lore all its own. the liner notes explain that at the time of its recording, davis was suffering from personal turmoil and a head full of memories from the vietnam war. the infamous jonestown, guyana mass murder occurred two days before the recording session and weighed heavily on his consciousness. the resulting electronic score would garner attention from legendary motor city dj electrifying mojo. in the early 80s, davis performed as 3070 in cybotron alongside juan atkins, laying the groundwork for detroit techno and electro with cuts like alleys of your mind. despite successful cybotron albums released on fantasy records, davis spent time penniless and abandoned in a v.a. hospital. the new 12inch version of methane sea was cut to lacquer straight from the original master tapes. davis currently lives in ypsilanti, michigan and works with music videos, fractal designs and cgi.

this debut ep is produced with clear references to j choirboy�s influences, from the majestic cantatas of bach to the broken rhythmic styles of the early uk rave scene, and even features his own father�s organ playing on the first track fantazia.

the groove brothers, aka jef k and rhythm&soul, keep things moving with the second release on their fledgling label, on a mission records. it�s been seven months since the label�s debut, demonstrating the duo�s considered approach to their outlet, which has been set up to capture the true spirit of house music, basing its ideals on some of the industry�s most respected labels and keeping that timeless, classic ethos alive. this second release unites the label owners with a couple of newcomers to the scene. retaining the sultry outlook of the first release the groove brothers inject jazzy notes and smooth funky rhythms into their music, while mr ks and kub follow in a similar vein with their well-crafted contributions. ks expanding on the jazz theme, while kub takes a more sensual pathway. from the executive producer chez damier come a special edition release marking the 20th anniversary of balance and prescription records. side a. the mission: lavida (life) is a project and group from switzerland that was produce by chez damier and italian producer demetrio giannice, the track is deep with choped vocals of chez and chaka khan, very chord driven with a jazzy feel as the break of the track. a2. is a young group of french producers from paris called siler & dima , thomas zander with track called: inappropriate, a deep driven track with spoken words , more minimal and was inspired by some of ron and chez early works, this is for sure new school and very club friendly. side b is a remastered version of the rare prescription underground mix of ron trent and chez damier s classic --the choice-- this is one of the dance classics that helped shaped a new underground sound for the club, with ripping synth, raw snares and high strings, this 20 year old track hold up as well as a track made today.
