this new compilation, a statement of intercultural music production, features collaborations of slikback (pan), kmru, tite (fragile), jinku, pier alfeo (backwards) ... recorded during a residency in elefant studio, nairobi.

re-release! you thought it was a joke when we released a record named after colognes local beer, kÖlsch. but you were wrong. rune riley kölsch is not a joke. he is a tall danish guy and its quite likely that you have already heard some of his tracks out in a club. maybe something from his amazing ink & needle series on his own tattoo imprint or the track he is most known for: calabria feat. crystal waters. after his impressive debut on kompakt extra >loreley/rheingold< he is back with another killer double header. >opa< is one of the most unusual but yet amazingly effective techno tracks we have heard this year. its steroid-driven funk with a heavily mental edge and powerful enough to lift the roof of any club. >der alte< pays tribute to germanys long running tv series the old man with a rather juvenile sounding piano anthem that sits comfortably between balearic disco and detroit techno. prost, mr kölsch!

minimood extra s forthcoming release is a vinyl only, red 12- affair that features two novel reworks of dub techno wizard david hausdorf s legendary salo release space walk . germany s david hausdorf has been turning out expertly crafted deep techno since the late nineties. he did so on labels like synaptic waves as well as styrax leaves, and in 2002 served up his classic space warehouse found! last copies ever.. walk on the epic berlin based imprint salo. first up is the 2015 version. it is a ten minute piece of heady, hypnotic techno with soft rubber drums, gently propulsive percussion and icy high-hats that add a real sense of scale and depth to the track. with slick boom- bap bite in the claps and hits, this is the sort of expertly reduced track that will lock dance floors in for hours. then comes the 2015 reshape, which again makes full use of its 10 minute length. there is a little more edgy reverb in this one, the drums are more upright and the pads are a little more rippling and rolling. it s a liquid groove as a result, and one that is near faultless for the way it rolls on and on without any friction.

yotam avni has been a long fixture of the tel-aviv nightlife scene, well known internationally thanks to releases on ovum, innervisions and hotflush. we welcome him to our speicher series with three unlikely cuts that you would expect from him (or us).

25 jahre kompakt sind kein grund sich aufzuregen. aber dennoch ein schöner anlass, einen gelassenen blick auf die lage der elektronischen musik zu werfen. denn der globale minimal-techno, in seinen unterschiedlichen spielarten, hat sich bekanntlich längst als beste tanzmusik der welt etabliert. recht so. was nun? gar nichts. weitertanzen.

unless you re too young to know or have been living under a rock for the past twenty years, there s little chance that you haven t come across marc romboy s music in one way or another. the systematic recordings boss has had many irons on the fire since establishing his first imprint, the now defunct le petit prince - gathering an untold number of releases on labels as diverse as ovum, innervisions, rebirth or 20:20 vision in his two decades of intense activity. tracing back to 1994, when he used to rummage through the crates of delirium - the primitive incarnation of kompakt (closed and revived under its new name in 1998), the friendship between romboy and the kompakt family has largely withstood the test of time. after losing touch for a few years, romboy and michael mayer would resume contact during a festival in the south of france - a reunion that eventually led to systematic joining kompakt s distribution catalogue a couple months later.

extra noir is a coldwave, minimal synth and post-punk soundtrack based in south korea. this is the first of a series of compilations, featuring artists from the hosts three most recent homes scotland, korea and texas. available on digital and limited release vinyl.
