�monstrance� is mika vainio & joachim nordwall�s first album together and was originally released june 2013 via touch (to:88). it consist of drone works and pulsating electronic minimalism but also guitar, acoustic elements, organs and metal percussion. it was recorded in einstürzende neubauten�s berlin studio during an intense session in early summer of 2010. �monstrance� is a place where vainio�s and nordwall�s backgrounds as musicians and composers meet, and something new and extremely powerful is born. something deep, raw and direct�

hot on the heels of inre rydmen, the ep that the swedish multi-instrumentalist group tommy awards released via origin peoples in mid-june, come the remixes. drafting in a cohort of the very best, this impending release will see the likes of jonny nash, coyote and mystic jungle tribe jump on the remix duties, touching original productions with their unmistakable idiosyncrasies. bartosz kruczynski, the polish producer better known under his earth trax guise, is another name credited on the release, offering up a 15-minute epic as he reinterprets penultimate track, hans logan. also to see an appearance on this ep is the romanian eirwud mudwasser, offering up a rendition of the track �mike sierra foxtrot� reworked in a similar esoteric expanse, albeit it quite a bit more lucid. oscillating electronics mesmerise and an arpeggiating synth melody gradually make way for marimbas. sweeping, elongated strums of guitar stretch out like the horizon and the dialogue between various melodic elements continues throughout as we bear witness to various transformations. irregardless of pacing, the meditative quality remaining consistent throughout each glorious edit.

for its second release, the barcelona-based independent label venom recordings follows its pioneering path into new and forward-thinking techno soundwaves. the ep features two original tracks signed by dasein, as well as two remixes from vii circle and memorial home. in their original versions, �prometheus� and �zodiac� reflect the polish duo�s distinctive signature: a blend of obscure-minded groove with cinematic melodies. both tracks are defined by the layering of deep and immersive sounds, where the combination of restless, punctilious basslines and beats with pulsating synths reverb drops climax into a pure hypnotic and spacey atmosphere. for their interpretation, vii circle and memorial home magnify the minimal and cosmic nature of the originals, crafting an ambient-like wavy tempo that traverse a dark flavoured sonic landscape with a strong emotional aura. four pieces of electronic mastery which offer a captivating journey, to be savoured in the intimacy of its own soul or to be shared with nightclubbing fellows.

for most people, seth troxler is a name associated with detroit-leaning house and techno. yet this only scratches the surface of troxler s musical outlook, hence the formation of soft touch records, an imprint focused on peeling back the layers of the exotic and the strange, where interstellar guitar, calypso disco and seductive techno tracks can come together in unison and feel totally at home. on the labels first 10- release, long time friend and guy gerber collaborator, clarian, collects three tracks for soft001, a kaleidoscopic journey through 6am electronics, afro-beat indie pop and sixties west coast heartbreak. it s a bold opening statement for a label prepared to break the mould, get you on the floor with a whispered promise through the dry ice.

ow finally on vinyl: artbat are bringing their first full ep release to diynamic music. the three-tracker -planeta- starts off with the title track -planeta-, a rapid-fire techno odyssey that might as well be taken from a relentless pursuit in a futuristic action movie. this is followed by the gloomy bassline of -prometheus-. heavy on percussive elements, the track is divided in half by a cascading synth-break only to return with more layers of percussions, strings and the hypnotic bassline. closing off the ep is -sand in your shoes- featuring london based artist dino lenny, who has previously worked with madonna or wu-tang clan and produced remixes for underworld, missy elliot or timbaland. the collab track is a dreamy deep-house tune and a perfectly emotive way to finish the record.
