san franciscos hometown stars tigercat get the disco rerub from uk legend greg wilson, and bi-coastal beard scratchers nick chacona & anthony mansfield. seduced by the sultry vocals of banging’ hot front woman natasha adorlee johnson, weighed down coaxes you off your bar stool and onto the dance floor. greg’s mix stays true to the original vibe with a taste of his signature disco dub complete with a tasty break. on the flip side nick and anthony take take you on a journey through the kind of deep, primal, electro underground party you emerge from 2 days later. hector works is coming at yah with thwacking beats, jamming treats and maybe even a cord progression.
alex celler has made quite a splash in 2009! since his tuningspork debut ep trapped in dub, hes had a hitrecord la palma for arearemote, and consequently teamed up with fellow londoner anthea of phonica records. as anthea & celler they released a pair of 12?s forfreak n chic and cÚcille, and now their third effort as a duo appears on tuningspork. down with g.o.d. is a chunky and forceful workout, fuelled by jesus juice, with a distorted bass bounce and vaporous dubovertones that just might make the dancefloorbreak down and speak in tongues.
incl remix by h.o.s.h.!! played by james holden, ripperton, phonique, someone else, stephan bodzin, mark august, sian. lucy builds up a menacing wall of sound in just under 8 minutes, inspiring the listeners imagination, like >summery drumming< before. oscillating melodies and strings condense to a dark blade runner type scenario, driven by a crystal clear snare drum
the last remix single from the >raw< album features some really nice and tasty mixes of boogie down that vary from deep and dark minimal techno to exstatic tech-house. first up are chopstick & johnjon who both are up and coming artist that most of you might know from their label criminal records and the collaborations of chopstick as eyerer and chopstick on great stuff recordings. their mix of boogie down is a real trancey one with a great bassline added to the original feel of the track. second man in line is substatics falko brocksieper who delivers a very powerful minimal techno joint with great effects and pitched down vocals, this is a true dark roller ! also our friends from montreal canada >les bouchers< better known as dj shine and poontz made a cool electro house cut and complete this fine release in style
another superb remix package from 2020 and silver city. norwegian disco kings lindstrom & prins thomas follow ewan pearson and spirit catcher and provide two wicked remixes in a cosmic, balearic disco house style. they have stepped up and turned the superb p-funk, disco house of the original into a balearic, cosmic, disco epic. the talented multi instrumentalists have added a load of new parts and used the superb guitar solo from the original to create one of their best remixes to date
1994’s “flava in ya ear” captures one of those moments in hip hop that can be called career defining for nearly all involved. of course this was craig mack’s biggest selling single, landing at number 9 on the billboard hot 100 and hitting platinum status.

with the celebrated return of dr. octagon (dan the automator, kool keith and dj qbert) in 2017 including their first-ever live performances fans are sure to keep gobbling up the space weirdness that first surfaced more than 20 years ago. get on down presents a unique picture disc, featuring the original octagon album artwork by the legendary artist pushead. the infamous doctor’s head and lower torso reach above and below the actual 45 rpm playing surface, as if trying to escape their two-dimensional status. on the a-side is a brand-new dr. octagon song, “octagon octagon,” which picks up where the original energy left off. it’s a dark and grooving glimpse into keith’s rubberband mind, jumping abstractly from line to line, chock full of equal partscharisma and dementia. on the flip is the song for which the group is most well-known, “blue flowers.” the version presented here is the amazing “prince paul’s so beautiful” remix, which first appeared on a mo wax 12” in the uk in late 1996. it was the first meeting of the two great production minds from different eras – dan the automator and prince paul would go on to collaborate many more times over the next decade, most notably as the group handsome boy modeling school. this is another great trophy for any self-respecting kool keith and dan the automator fan, combining the old and the new in triumphant fashion.
LOVE PRESSURE REMIXES (FALTY DL / JIMMY EDGAR RMX)
12 Inch 24.11.17
nice price deal !!! since sepalcures debut ep, love pressure dropped last summer, the new york based act otherwise known as travis stewart (machinedrum) and praveen sharma (braille) have made a lasting impression on the electronic sphere over the last year with unforgettable live performances across the usa and europe, as well as a stunning follow-up ep, fleur. their unique chemistry as a duo is undeniable and has resulted in a soulful, emotive, and energetic style that is entirely their own. on this remix ep, five of the usa’s most exciting dance music producers of late have offered their unique takes on the original tracks, all bringing their own signature elements into the fore: xi (orca, toronto), faltydl (planet mu, new york), jimmy edgar (!k7, detroit), daedelus (ninja tune, los angeles), and recent hotflush signing lando kal (lazer sword, berlin via san francisco).
were happy to welcome back harry wolfman for a full record after his fine collaborative square lane ep with loz goddard last year. here he delves into the leftfield side of house, this dreamy 5-tracker. torontos jesse futerman joins us for the remix fresh from his debut releases on church and omena.fermi brings the tropically tinged deep house heat, wavering pads and buoyant bass paint us a mirage of sweltering summer days ahead. ice thin starts as a melancholic mover, it steadily builds through dusty samples, shaken percussion and smokey moods elevating the energy into something euphoric. things get gritty as we flip to the b-side. downstream is a dark and grainy outing, edgy arps work in and out of tough drums and frenzied synths. jesses superb rework of ice thin features distant horns and vocals that ring out over a warbling rhodes and rumbling bass, then comes the lick of a slide guitar reminiscent of some kind of twisted western. wrapping up this beautiful and somewhat nostalgic journey we turn to outro version a funk laden work out. rich strings and woodwinds fill out the lush landscape that swells and soars across the steady, bottom heavy, dance inducing
kapote loves the funk. and he loves blaxploitation movies. the black underground cinema from the 1970ies. kapote samples dirty talk from these movies and puts it on his bass lines. melodic basslines with a heavy 1070 funk vibe. bass lines that can create a sexual tension. kapote adds a few warm, jazzy rhodes piano chords and a lot of reverbs and filtering. and the music rolls. often more like a jam then like a constructed piece of music. in the highest points this music is pure endorphin. it s 4 to the floor - but it has a soulful analogue sound. kapote says he was listening to records from old detroit label red planet and parisian downtempo pioneers motorbass and la funk mob while making this record. and yes, the vibe is there. like these guys kapote likes to build his musical trips around snippets from old funk vinyl. adding beats with vintage drum machines and creating an eclectic trip into a universe full of jazzy bits, noisy drums and dirty samples.
TURN IT OUT / BOOGIE DOWN (DAVE AJU & LAURENCE GUY RMXS)
12 Inch 03.05.16
having unleashed the beast that is his debut lp columbusing, thatmanmonkz grants a couple more heavyweight producers permission to get busy with the sonic manglers for remixes of turn it out and boogie down. first up, one of the vocalist contributors to the lp dave aju (known for his releases on circus company) takes on his own track turn it out, transforming the original from a backyard bbq summer jam into some kind of mutant electro p-funk meets broken- beat fusion. a filtered bass line and bare bones 808 kicks are what this track is all about forming the perfect rhythmic union with the vocal.

THIS IS NOT HOUSE MUSIC ( INCL GRUBER & NUERNBERG RMX & DOWNLOAD-CODE)
12 Inch 17.08.10
bassbuero a.k.a. thomas ingold and his partner björn müller are long-year resident djs and promoters in our hive club and come around the corner with a smooth customer debut. the title could not be any more designative, as with this is not house music we have a knotless and outstanding 90s number with lots of pathos and - declaredly - they have looked over some shoulders of big protagonists from france. when the vocoder chords are crossing swords with this insane bassline, every ravers heart must beat at least one octave higher. this is the tune for a perfect sunrise and big feelings on the floor. on the flip we have gruber & nuernberg, some good pals of bassbuero that played in hive several times as well - they contribute a complete antipole to the the original. almost a bit trancey they spin the chords over a straight old school house groove, never let the basic spirit of the original out of sight and though don t forget to leave their very own traces on this remix. in addition we have - as with every release - a digital exclusive bonus track, that certainly does not deserve the rating house music - lets call it rather fidget than deep. but be sure, its all gone will blow your mind out.
designer drugs are at it again! at this time last year we released designer drugs debut singles zombies and back up, now we have their much anticipated follow up ready for release on this month. its another 2 spectacular dance floor killer tracks drop down and riot + big remixes from beataucue & mustard pimp. both of these songs continue to expand on the sound established by designer drugs. they are blistering, powerful, epic episodes of electro madness and set the stage for the forth coming full length next year.

the new enliven music release comes with a minimal clubtrack that is ruled by a rolling bass and some wooden sounds that will power up the melancholic voice and some mysterious special effects resounds out of the autumnal foggy woods. the mobilee and einmaleins artist pan-pot supplies this release with a bit more aggressive remix
