to differentiate between his solo dance-oriented work to the darker tones. kaczmarek aka paul ritch launched his new album titled iiiiiiiiiiiiii on october 30th on his fresh imprint kczmrk. kczmrk is definitely a more personal project for paul. helping him define a newly found darker and more genuine taste to produce electronic music. which would even the most demanding audience left surprised. kaczmareks immersive sounds on his debut album were highly supported by respected artists of the underground scene such as sterac. vril. lewis fautzi. vsk and djedjotronic. who will contribute reworks that will come out in a remix ep in february 2018. the 12inch is gently introduced with a sophisticated remix of iiiii by techno pioneer sterac aka steve rachmad. continuing with vril’s remix of iiiiiiiiii who delivers beautiful ambient tones in a euphoric travel of sound. the b side begins with emerging talent lewis fautzi and his iiiis remix in a deep and hypnotic cut. followed by the curtesy of vsk and djedjotronics remixes of iiiiiiiii. vsk sticks to the dark and hard forms of techno with glimmer of deeper and industrial sounds while djedjotronic enrich kaczmareks dark techno tones with some futuristic idm.
tt05 is brought by st. joseph. an excellent dj and producer from cologne. the ep is split into two very different types of sounds. one presents a more rolling techno type of sound and the other. more mellow vibes.
ant orange’s third 12″. for karaoke kalk forms something resembling a trilogy for the label. “right there” is built on a familiar rhodes-n-bass aesthetic. combining the lo-fi jazz of 2017’s “arkupe” with the soulful vocal motifs of 2015’s “s/t”. while introducing more electronic ingredients and taking an increasingly exploratory approach to rhythm and composition. the opening title track clocks in at over 8 minutes. growing slowly from soft tickled keys to a full-bodied groove circled by airy synths and fragmented rnb vocals. “drunk in the trunk” then shifts down a gear. looping another vocal cut over a lazy. stripped-back wahwah vibe. side a closes with experimental jazz skit “let that sink in”. its jerky tempo and flashes of light reminiscent of a late-night subway ride. the b-side takes a more contemplative tone. with the meditative arpeggios and sparse drums of “comfort zone” leading into the dusky west coast stroll of “muscle beach”. before “rudis goes offline” picks up the tempo for a last shimmering dance. the closing track “a frozen lake” sounds just like it sounds – chilled by name and by nature.

a modular synthesiser and an urge to find interesting tones. textures and timbres... ekke s second lp klangfarbenmodular is due to bevreleased by detroit underground . it is electronic music with compositions that deal with abstract textures. glitchy beats. nostalgic synth melodies. and sound design. like the title of the album suggests. one of the main interests for ekke has been finding different interesting tone-colours. textures and timbres. second very important inspiration for ekke while composing this material was his instrument – modular synthesiser. he has been studying free improvisation and composition on that instrument for years and the instrument has become like a good friend and music teacher for him. the album was composed and recorded during 2015-2017. most of the material has been recorded as studio jam sessions. all the pieces have then gone through many reincarnations. although most of the material comes from machines. there is a track where all the sounds are field recordings registered in tallinn. estonia. which is a current home for ekke .

the people at antinote are always excited to introduce new names to its roster and sign libra. its latest addition. makes no exception to the rule. released under the moniker sign libra. closer to the equator is the work of latvian artist and composer agata melnikova. composed for a contemporary ballet at latvian national opera in riga. the music on this record strongly relies on melnikovas appreciation of bbc-produced nature documentaries. projecting the life of each creature that inhabits the british tv-program into her very personal and highly synthetized world. sign libra lends these microscopic beings her own voice. each song works like a musical tableau in which the main protagonists plants and animals come on stage to play their part in a ballet carefully choreographed by the latvian artist.

neil landstrumm and tobias schmidt are two men responsible for modern day electronic music. when the sound crawled out of the primordial speaker. this pair were there to welcome it. for more than twenty years the two have worked together as sugar experiment station and arrive on shipwrec for their first collaboration in eight years. this is a 12- born in burning furnaces of bass. moulded in those low frequency fires. smelted in the thumping heat. are beats. beats hardened like steel before being shaped into lancing points. with these tools of rhythmic brimstone ses goes about destroying dancefloors before reinventing them. chords are rolled in gravel. doused in distortion and rinsed in static. a style forged from the friction of pistons. the sweat of the assembly line. before being dipped in a searing liquor of circuitboards and molten microchips. ses - sugar experiment station - shattering every stereotype.

dualexercise_l is elaborated on the premise of collaboration and reinterpretation. it presents the original work of two artists along its respective recompositions. as a musical release produced by manchester s daniel ruane & oqko co-founder smog. dualexercise_l opens up with side a comprehended of two the original compositions which go through reinterpretation on the flip side. taking the concept of entropic degradation for focus. with harsh textural depth. twisted mechanistic noise and glimmers of breaks. bass and broken techno providing the sonic backdrop. ruane and smog serve out their singular visions of pandemonium across four slabs of high octane compositions.
once upon a time. there were two very difficult people who loved music very much. they loved music so much that they stayed together despite having clear signs that it was not necessarily the right thing to do. they made music together. or next to each other. and everything that happened. happened in the music. it was all whatever. but they still like it.
lvis mejía s newest project. titled anthropology of amnesia is an acousmatic essay addressing our utter necessity to remember in the face of existential oblivion. an innate behaviour of the human race. presented as a 33 minute long continuous composition. anthropology of amnesia unrolls as a series of chapters. the contemplative character of the piece opening a particular frame within the listening experience. where lvis mejía attempts to convey the phenomenon of the collective consciousness through the cultural traces we leave behind. mejía s takes the idea of -one species. one culture. one past- and places it at the center of the concept of the piece. anthropology of amnesia examines a number of interpretations of rituals. orchestrations. chants. synthesis and field recordings - nestled within the piece are recordings of animals. fire. water and a human heart - the sum of these sonic identities incidentally reshaping their roots. the diversity of the sonic sources highlights the comparative study element of mejía s work yet the common thread remains the human experience. recorded stories and the viva voce.
reclaim your city returns to the shelves with its eight compilation featuring tracks by four of the genres finest. master and legend. steve bicknell. opens the record with the track that truly stands out on the compilation: a psychedelic piece titled >confusion of chase.< which is convoluted. dark. and extremely captivating. inigo kennedy follows with the thoughtfully composed >gradual return.< in which an offbeat rhythm perfectly coexist with an uplifting yet melancholic synth. things get even more exciting with pfirters >oppression.< which is both driving and hypnotizing. and makes a perfect peak time dancefloor bomb. the argentinian mainstay. jonas kopp. increases the tempo on >bigatron.< where a weirdly sarcastic groove pairs with a rain of metallic hi-hats as the piece progresses.
reflex in waves brings together a series of sonic approaches manning has been developing for over a decade. specifically. manning’s work is concerned with waves and the impacts of their resulting vibration. quietly producing audio works out of his studio in yeronga. on the south side of brisbane city. manning’s works are based on a series of deeply personal instrument designs. tape manipulation and other exploratory approaches. his instruments. which are often percussive. use harmonically related materials that are activated by motor-driven strings. the resulting sound is a chaotic but pulse-like cluster of harmony.
with an enviable private collection of synthesisers amassed during his travels to the us in the early 1970’s and shipped home to tel aviv (where he was an established kinetic artist. as well as a professor of both philosophy and art) ami’s main focus was the desire to combine his love of electronic music acts such as tangerine dream. philip glass and new synthesiser technology. with his interest in the relatively new technique of biofeedback - a process in which technology was used to relay information about the body’s functions in order to enable a change of physiological activity.

for this release metrist delves into a set of carefully constructed and deeply rhythmic but ear-grabbingly idiosyncratic. mixed fidelity dancefloor-geared oddities. the first three tracks are united. in a fashion. by the artist’s skill at programming a series of drum tracks that set a definite tone for the productions. within a quite partisan field of often microscopic generic variety. largely pinned down to the tempo and timbre of electronic drums. here metrist has pursued a tricky-to-define path. the bounce of new jack swing is twisted amongst stripped back polyrhythms. equal parts groove and glitch seasoned by some futuristic acid filters that create a constantly shifting aura of space and textural nuance around the individual drum hits. quite often arrhythmic interjections punctuate these ‘grooves’. be it the sawing bursts of noise and snarled. incoherent vocals on ‘an soaep’. the non-language and playful. bubbling bass surrounding the half time feel of ‘on golden seize’ that builds to something approximating an industrial take on uk funky or the brash sub-wobbles that intrude ‘pantomimer tongue’s juddering knife-scraping-on-a-balloon stutters. ‘caaacel the horze’ closes the record in a less weighty style. with crunchy arpeggios running on a synth that sounds like it’s picking up interference from a radio channel. as snatches of moaned vocals allude to a deeply ambiguous yet chilling narrative behind the music. thudding kicks intrude on the skittish melody but in a non-rhythmic way reminiscent of someone trying desperately to snatch your attention by banging on the adjacent wall. gauzy melodic textures in the background provide a calming counterpoint to the uneasy qualities of the composition
this time. germination. his first solo ep. is purely musical work composed of organic. visceral. living sounds. both fragile and mighty. the electronic music is free of constraints imposed by the dedicated instruments. embodied by large dynamic ranges and a constantly moving temporality. germination tells an evolving process. in full bloom. with its share of mutations and strange directions. germination is composed of four tracks. including one remix by roly porter. in the same vein as alex augier. the cofounder of subtext recordings explores the boundaries of experimental music. both electronically and instrumentall

sonikku comes riding back into the lobster tropical gardens with a flurry of sparkling. arpeggiator-driven ambient jams featuring three extended reworks from nts regular mobbs.
sonikku’s originals apply a drier and skit-length pop approach to synth-based home listening. building a borderline-saccharine melodic base to each track then upping the sheen and the tropical & twinkling production. shots of balearic appear in earth temple. christmas jingles echo from the depths of diamond dust. while sky garden channels a more direct emotional palette of warm synthesizer heartbreak.
mobbs’ approach is to allow each track to breathe around it’s core strengths over a longer time frame. whilst enhancing and encouraging each element to make it’s space and time to enter the track. the shifts and swaying structures turn shorter synth ideas into fully blown journeys that become almost hypnotic by the end. a soft. dream-like ride into bliss.

following the release of synkro aka joe mcbride collection of his formative early works earlier this year. apollo recordings is proud to present a brand new ep that draws on the rich heritage of library music. despite having come up during the dubstep era mcbrides music has always resisted easy classification - hand in hand sees him shift his musical focus in a yet more cinematic direction. mcbride explains: the record was inspired and influenced by my love of electronic 80s uk library records like the chappell av series. bruton. soundstage & de wolfe music library. theres a lot of synth work that carries on from my album using my trusted juno-6 / sh101 / jx8p combo with the addition of drum samples via an old akai s2800 i purchased recently. most sounds ive made from scratch on hardware based on sounds used in the library records i mentioned above along with a few cheeky samples.- synkro s signature expansive atmospherics are still very much present. but now they have been burnished by soaring synth pads and pulsing drum tracks that call to mind the haunted melancholy of john carpenter or contemporary such as legowelt or andy stott. rhythmically hand in hand sees mcbride moving somewhat away from his usual off kilter programming inspired by 2-step and garage. embracing the steady pulse of 4:4 which turns out to be an effortless fit.

new project and new label from the creators of the fantastic 808 box. fundamental records. there are many details that make this project something really unique. these records will become classics if they are not already!. the music of every record is very special. also the artwork and the technic use to print each sleeve. but the concept behind this project something you need to understand. as you can read in the website everything is based in two factors: first. to provide the artist with complete anonymity in order to create in absolute freedom. second. to offer the listener the work of the artist without any external distortions. the use of words to describe or define music is a senseless task. most of the time the intention of descriptive text is not to shed light on the work of the artist. but rather to serve as a promotional tool to drive sales and increase recognition. this often has the unfortunate result of limiting the creator and his work. music is all we need. any other additives are completely dispensable.
