terence fixmer his known in the late 90s , early 2000s as the creator of the tbm, described as techno body music. a mixture of the ebm soundscape with the modernity of techno. his muscle machine album (including tracks lile electrostatic, body pressure) released in 2001 became a reference of the genre. in 2003, musician terence fixmer and legendary singer from cultissism band nitzer ebb, douglas j mccarthy embarked on a project that spearheaded the fusion of techno and ebm. they named it fixmer/mccarthy and they were the precursor to a new breed of techno artists that manage to traverse between an array of scene specific genres without being tied to any. since releasing their first album, >between the devil<, in 2003 terence and douglas have ridden the line between pure techno and the recognizable song structure of classic electronic music and ebm. now, with over 13 years working together for this project and playing around the world, they return to their signature raw sound and delivery. >so many lies< is quintessential and brooding techno, while the instinct mix epitomizes their ability to craft a catchy bubbling baseline whilst all the while dispatching cold steel aggression.

resopal retrieves two more smoldering remix cuts on transparent vinyl. safe to say that both of them - the a side by heidelberg s casio casino (aka steffen neuert of bergheim 34 ) together with lopazz - and the stunning b-side by our marseille connection roar - are absolute stompers. what we have here are two finely crafted remix versions of the original that seduce the dance floor in totally different ways. both contain perfectly structured arrangements that creep up on you with the stealth of a ninja, making them a real pleasure to mix with. the heidelberg guys show a minimal disco hybrid version of the original. from the moment the bassline emerges from a dense thicket of white noise the pair make their intentions clear. with expertly-crafted sequences punctuated by dramatic crescendos and distinctive mood changes their re-work is a melting pot of styles and influences that somehow manage to coexist, creating a rich montage of sounds and textures. on the b - french duo roar deliver hallucinogenic, long, patient grooves followed by some fantastically understated sonic tweaking which gives the track a real kick without ever losing that empty, laid back vibe.

happy birthday 8 bit! the final part of our 10years series and 8bit catalogue number 100 are provided by none else than labelhead and mastermind gorge! with tayo ep the renowed producer and dj may strike his best one yet: a timeless two track beast and safe to say, a future classic. tayo, the a-side is just pure gorge with an irresistible bassline joined by rollin’ drums and as usual, just on point! filtered organs, bright cymbals and subtle airy pads set the stage for lisha, a serious groover bringing positive vibes to any floor. we couldn’t be happier with this milestone release and are already looking forward to nr. 200 - 8bit, just quality music!
