ltd repress - almost 2 years after the success of the album the tony allen experiments and a few months after the release of the 7inch amore, nu guinea return to the scene with a new lp published by their newborn label ng records. after touring the world looking for sounds suitable for their vibrations, nu guinea decided to go back to square one, napoli, where massimo di lena and lucio aquilina were born and raised. they watched their city from a distance reconstructing its energy from their studio in berlin, calibrating the synths on the meridian of vesuvius, the volcano that has always protected and threatened napoli. nuova napoli is the result of a long musical research that has become a historical investigation on the sound that shaped napoli during the 70s and 80s, starting from the contamination of genres (disco, jazz-funk, african rhythms) which ended up in nu guinea’s dna. in this album the synthesizers fill the spaces between the past and the future, tightening in a single body acoustic instruments, electronics and voices in neapolitan dialect. it is the first time that the duo has worked with such a large group of musicians, some of whom are exponents of the contemporary neapolitan scene. warning: we recommend listening to nuova napoli while walking in the alleys of napolis historic center, around wet clothes hanging and street vendors on tiny three-wheelers.

with his fourth outing on into the woods recordings, maheras delivers “tartessos,” a nod to his roots in greece and a journey into dancefloor dub that continues into the woods’ tradition for moody and effective dancefloor tools.
“tartessos” sets the mood of this ep with risers and chord stabs that delay across a four to the floor bass line and kick pattern. maheras allows the reverb space to build here here, creating atmosphere that builds slowly until the chords drop halfway through and bring an ethereal mood to a peak.
on the flip roman flugel delivers an outstanding remix that doubles down on the delays and pushes into more traditional dub tech territory. flugel divides and multiplies musical elements across a live mixing desk, through effects chains and back to a mix that maintains the momentum of the original rhythm but amplifies the flutters and flourishes.

back in 1995 while living on the west coast, at the peak of the rave experience, dj spun and dhyan moller recorded a bunch of live tracks, without any sequencer, all direct to cassettes. spun aka jason drummond, reached out last spring after rediscovering all the cassettes and asked us if wed be interested in releasing some of the tunes. jason shipped us the cassettes and after a good transferring session, we decided we had to release all the tracks under a 3lp set. this stuff is fire. we still love dj spun and dhyan moller!
after his much acclaimed how is club 246 (quintessentials 59) some months ago, our detroit maestro and non stop producer is back! we love javonntte as he covers everything from live and direct cuts to smooth deep house tunes as you will hear on his private party ep. no big fuss just pure house music! are you invited to javonnttes private party?
vä,stkransen records are proud to release the debut ep of stockholm s house savants hk. the main project of hampus ribbing and kristoffer banks, hk have garnered attention for their dynamic and unpredictable live sets. having spent five years in the studio engineering their deep and mesmerizing grooves, the duo now surfaces with “a kind of love ep”, featuring three original tracks and a remix from french wunderkind and d.ko head flabaire.
on the a-side, hk begins with the melancholic but captivating “a kind of love”. the duo then goes deeper on the hypnotizing, yet dancefloor-oriented, “hiccup”. on the flipside, flabaire presents a dreamy and jazz-inspired remix of “a kind of love”, after which hk sums up the ep with “angry bird”, a percussion-infused take on the rougher deep house sound.
thirty years ago, british youth culture was changed forever. the summer of love in 1988 saw house music spread like wildfire over the country, with thousands of young people dancing in fields, clubs and any spaces they could find.
one of the tracks that truly encapsulated this magical time was stirling void’s “it’s alright”. originally released on chicago’s seminal label dj international, the spine-chilling lyrics of positivity resonated in the hearts and minds of the acid house generation and are more relevant in today’s climate than ever. to celebrate 30 years since the summer of love, toolroom is proud to present a monumental remix package of this all-time classic, alongside the fully re-mastered original.
first up on remix duties is one of house music’s most intriguing artists. adesse versions has a back catalogue of highly sought-after records, and he’s treated this remix with utmost respect, keeping the track’s essence and identity, but adding a new layer of raw warmth and subliminal melody. next up, house legend dj spen has stepped up to the plate with his own interpretation. his jazzy, soulful keys have added a layer of polish and musicality to the track, which combine beautifully with paris brightledge’s iconic vocals.
repress 2018, finally, i was able to be re-united with my father, rick (poppa) howard, in the studio again. he had two thoughts about the selections on this particular vinyl piece: >can your love find its way< is the track that laid out, and also, that he believed us to be blessed both in being reunited, and in what we were there to do. as my father continually offers me a knowledge that takes me time (sometimes years) to understand, i am very proud to offer this release to the world.
after a short pause, arthur returns with a new six-tracker ep on private persons. art crime is one of the more enigmatic figures in the moscow music scene. arthur recorded four solid releases on prominent record labels like w.t. records, crème organization, phonica records and pinkman. piercing, emotional and energetic, the releases became distinguishable dance floor heaters.
brooklyn based, dj monchan, steps up to perform some surgical edit wizardy on four mouth-watering tracks for the ever-dependable razor-n-tape. ‘reaction control’ kicks things off with a joyous disco gem, dj monchan extending and echoing those killer groovers to create a whirlwind of dancefloor delight. next up, ‘dance it all out’ has a touch of the exotic highlife sound to it but reworked into a dj friendly, irresistibly bouncing jam. flip it and it’s back to the late-night nyc soirees of the 70’s with ‘can’t promise’ channelling that pure unadulterated fun into an ethereal edit of magnetic proportions. taking the final slot of rnt042 ‘get down with your love’ closes out proceedings with a silky smooth soulful heater.
things tend to move in circles until they are complete. such is the case with wph ten-8. when fcl released their ‘cherry pie e.p.’ on kai alcé’s ndatl label it was already decided that kai alcé would find a home on wph as well. and with his absolutely stunning string of remixes of recent years in mind it made sense to ask kai to take up remix duties for a new fcl release. . the result is a release that oozes soul all over. the original track is fcl’s ‘let’s make a track and have great singers aka lady linn and gustaph singing about house music’-moment and kai’s remix is…well…simply another amazing slice of soul from the man that can do no wrong. it’s house music…as you should know it.
insane synth-heavy feel-good brit-funk classic and huge favourite of dam-funk. a certified uk boogie bomb, originally released in 1982, and coming hot on the heels of the pink rhythm reissue campaign. side on was a one-off uk soul dream team, consisting of peter maas, everton mccalla and rick clarke.
hiding slightly out of plain sight, australian producer mood j has been secretly crafting lush house jams for the last half decade bubbling just under the visible surface.
with the artist and asquith having briefly touched base at the beginning of the label’s journey, it took only a chance encounter in a ballarat bungalow in 2016 to reignite the flames of the artist-label relationship. jimmy surprisingly bumping into jon (mood j), as he was daze’s housemate in aus, whilst the lobster crew were on tour there.
mood j’s hard drive was stashed with archive of warm, sizzling, analogue studio tracks cooked to the nines, and so here we are just over 14 months later with the full epic debut in hand.
brand new detroit duo man vs indian man comprises ian finkelstein (of scott grooves’s overdubs fame) and even haywood. complementing each other’s strengths, the pair make the perfect match as they pour out thick viscously barbed future soul in thick gooey doses, both “ice accountant” and “cloud nine” are wrapped in foggy layers of sleepy textures as the falsetto vocals and lean instrumentation cut through with dreamy delight. remixes from the legendary egyptian lover (cosmic electro), fellow detroitian pontchartrain (filtered disco house) and brazilian table daddy (lolloping dream tech).
physician by day, musician by night, moonlighter makes his production debut after steadily holding down rocksteady disco labelmate duties. “give us rain (ah mila)” begins the 12” beautifully, blending ethereal african samples with moonlighter’s own melodic and percussive performance. “kinematic” kicks off the flip on a more cosmic and techy tip, with bubbly synth stabs and drums. “a certain average kind of normal experience” closes out this opus with a massive peak hour bassline, emotive synthesis, and a vocal sample from everybody’s favorite uk philosopher. the moonlighter ep is a culmination of his diverse production and digging ethos by blending the percussive with the melodic, the peak hour with the subdued, and the head with the heart.
this album is a curve ball. mr. g is showcasing some of his deep and sample oriented works on “a part of me vol.2”. a touching collection of tracks taking the listener into the depths of the uk based artist’s perception.
after a seven year hiatus, sam grawe aka hatchback returns with his third album for lo recordings, ‘year of the dragon’. the final installment in his ‘california cosmic sound series trilogy, following ‘colors of the sun’ and ‘zeus & apollo’, ‘year of the dragon’ continues grawe’s personal exploration of the vast horizons of electronica, prog-rock, balearic rhythms and new age atmospheres.
the vinyl lp is housed in a gatefold sleeve and includes a code for free download of the full album with 2 bonus tracks.
