lb003 arrives courtesy of bristol born, brighton based producer sam kidel, aka el kid. following up his well received debut on immerse sam drops 3 tracks of wildly varied bass music. beginning with the title track >hypnosis<, lush ambient pads and plucked guitar soon give way to fearsome bass swells and metronomic percussion, coming across like early autechre remixed by floating points. second track >mud< drops the pace for a noisy house workout, reminiscent of fellow bristolians kowton, and labelmate vessel. >kachinja< on the flip is the straightest - and darkest - of the lot, a lurching warehouse techno cut that wouldnt sound out of place on ostgut ton. finally hyperdub wunderkid walton contributes a rough & ready funky dub of >hypnosis< to round out the ep.

as much as track names end up being slightly more than tags and guidelines for searches in the digital era of music in which we live today, the name of the title track says a lot about the intentions behind the artwork. in the case of >the classic age<, it can be considered a homage to the influences that nourished rotcivs career throughout the past years.
rad rice and steven boardman are radical majik. they sculpt bowel-shatteringly funky head-spinners, hewn from bare circuits, and disco sweat. previous dancefloor-botherers include >dub rider<, >spread the hot potato<, >direct action< and remixes for 2raumwohung and andrew weatherall.

after a run of collectible releases on their own and one 12inch for esteemed deep explorer label the guys from valencias cornuta imprint return with another strong double header of summery deephouse that easily gets ahead of the flood of moody, two chord releases of minimalists turned to house yet never gets noodly or looses the floor outta sight. . >good try dub< sports a nice jacking beat, superb warm rhodes and string chords. the beat on the flip pounds a bit harder yet keeps the classic soulful vibe
physics is back with a latin influenced track. we all remember their big release on swing city last year. on remix duties we have phatzoo, which had a huge hit with his earlier paul van dyke and marco v supported release on jffr. he totally revamp the original to a massive electro stomper. second remix is made by patrick l, well known from his releases on onephatdeeva, essence, look at you and sole music !!
he is back: snook later, the man who gave us the jazz-ravy madness of the first nice try records release, returns on the zurich-based label. it seems logical then – but only wickedly so - that zurich producer dadaglobal takes up snooks inaugural cue with an irrestible remix of a dancefloor shaker. grooves that let not only your limbs shake but also your spine tingle.

jerrald james aka jerry the cat musical career is a typical example for detroit music of the last decades having played percussions with parliament and disco outfit cj & company he early came in contact with the first wave of detroit house and techno producers and began to experiment with these new sounds. his productions today are still evident for the unique mixture of detroit soul history and futuristic electronics. therefore this new sound signature is exemplary for the detroit sound as it skillfully fuses the free flowing jazz inflected vocals of genevieve with jerralds rootsy percussions play, accoustic live bass and a skanking, hypnotic house beat. flip over for the dubby instrumental track vanished

after appearing with c-beams recently, break sl strikes back with a massive track called desert flight that has already been causing a stir amongst the uncanny valley crew for quite a while.over the course of ten minutes the track unwinds as an analogue slowhouse trip that is dominated by a gritty synth figure.with typical sophisticated break sl drums, radio transmitted messages directly from the cockpit and a freaked out siren its a track that is not from this world. the flipside starts off in a more classical manner with the rumbling house of amorphed limits. the track is distinguished by rapturous synths and gets spiced up through additional drum work by break sls partner in crime manuel sander. beercase song originates from collaboration with dresdens universal genius max rademann. his quirky keys and break sls drum workshop create a dirty piece of funk which rounds up an eclectic ep by a versatile producer.the cover artwork was created by visual artist and designer julien simshäuser who illustrates the trip that is desert flight.
