after 10 years of releases since 2007, the label is happy to add some fresh blood to the imprint. a compilation in two volumes will see the light this summer. here is the vol.1 with france 98 aka leo pol, walid from infoline & hank rideau
ltd ed. 200 units first release for the newborn black angus rough, sublabel of the cult black angus records. dj soch undertakes a new journey to the deepest roots of house music through his estabished personal vision. the ep is the perfect fusion of jersey sounds and warmer italo house.
smeur continues it’s journey into melodic trippy house. the third release features two artists take on a track from the same starting point. both sides are based on the same set of samples. but while side a reminisces early orbital in its theme side b is a somber excursion into another subterranean world. both tracks will keep the floor interested with it’s different approach to house music.
straight out of the ukraine comes io (mulen) aka aleksandr voznichenko, a man whose back catalogue includes releases on labels such as rejected, eklectisch and area remote to name but a few. now he links up with one of paris’ premier labels, run by one of paris’ premier crews – apollonia. with one solid track and a classy remix from danish young gun malin génie, this is another surefire winner from apollonia. ‘to the unknown’ kicks things off with a steady build up. shrouded in a hazy mist it draws you to its understated groove, io turns in a very considered production that evolves at a slow yet utterly gripping pace. the energy levels rise like the tide of the ocean, engulfing you before you know it. io’s dexterity and cunning ability to keep the listener engaged manifests itself here, bomb! on the flip side, malin genie steps in to give ‘to the unknown’ a new lick of paint and what we get is a jazzy, minimal rework with a jaunty skip in its step and a wicked bassline.
for the second release on smeur we dig deep into the core of what the label is about. served here is two slices of trippy and quirky tracks. >blowstock< is framed by a vocal sample telling the story of a festival taken over by freedom of expression. on the flip >fivetwosix< serves you a rolling hypnotic monster perfectly conveying the feeling of the surroundings it was created in: a bunker five meters underground in the heart of copenhagen.
from the copenhagen underground comes a new raw house label. both known and up and coming talents contribute with anonymous releases on a series of two trackers exclusively on vinyl. for the first release we have a rare filter house workout with a disco sample filtered to perfection to give you that hypnotic feel when everything melts apart and comes together again in that breakdown. for the b-side we have another classic house exercise, one of those chop chop rollers that just keeps the floor going with its eternal bassline and an organ riff sampled and resampled into obscurity.
in 2013 bootshonk was the white label release spurred by the calls from dc10s dance floor. this time around bootshonk steps ahead of the game and pre-empts two of this summers sure-fire underground dj weapons. troubled times brings high energy tribal drumming, simple and stripped back to ultimate rhythmic effect. patiently building up with claps before sliding into a moment of surrealist vocal samples, for a woozy, trippy vibe. with stamper square the mood shifts deeper, delving into the late night mystery and a new level of dance floor entrancement.
third all jacks with more pumpin prime time action... the ltd vinyl only label of paul ritch, all jacks, returns for its third highly anticipated instalment. with no attention paid to the artists involved our sole focus is on the music and rightly so. with the first two all jacks releases picking up incredible support, we are certain that the latest will impress further still.
great oldschool sounding scattering techno release from the hydraulix camp.the artist is unknown but the beats on this piece of black gold are phenomenal.garantueed to set venues on fire.the a+b side are both 2 energetic slams.
in these days of snowfall and agony, we all need some love. get on this ride through a symphonic soundscape and leave all your sorrows behind. this release contains 2 wonderful icey sounding tracks with a strong emotional vibe to them. cant you feel the love?
the beautiful release from circulation released in 1996 on balance recordings is re-released by phil weeks & didier allyne (p&d) for your ears. after the massive success mood ii swing « move me » (pnd05) another underground story of the house music continue with joshua michaels (iz) and dwayne washington (diz) met in chicago almost thirteen years ago and have been friends ever since. they both had their nicknames before meeting each other, so it was a natural progression to start working together as iz and diz. when joshua moved to chicago in 1994, iz and diz began making music together, recording their first track at the legendary kms studios in detroit for the prescription records offshoot balance. now out of print, this was to be a first in a series of well received singles for a variety of respected labels including silver network, classic, seasons recordings, tweekin records..
