almost exactly a year after his first ep on byrd out (the kiyadub ep), the legendary andrew weatherall returns with new material for a second release. andrew invited a mate round to his studio to try out a les paul his friend was looking to buy. as it turns out, his mate was ride s (and oasis ) guitarist andy bell. anyway, andrew suggested he test the guitar out over a track he was working on, and ‘making friends with the invader’ is the resulting track, which andrew paired with the ep’s title track ‘blue bullet’. both tracks plough the trippy, cosmic dub furrow, and come in at a weighty 8 and 9 minutes plus. 1000 vinyl only, and 200 cassettes. grab them while you can! mastered by noel summerville. artwork by g.s-l studio

wenn das anfang des jahres erschienene und mit lob überschüttete convenanza ein destillat der einflüsse weatheralls war, so geht consolamentum einen schritt weiter. für dieses remixalbum lud der legendäre dj und produzent alte und neue freunde ein, die convenanza tracks in ihrem ureigenen stil zu remixen. an bord sind angesehene musikarchitekten wie david holmes (als unloved), justin robertson und bernard fevre (black devil disco club), während heretic, red axes, solar bears und vox low die garde des talentierten nachwuchses stellen.

‘convenanza’ is the sound of andrew weatherall looking back at the clutter of a life thoroughly lived and realising it’s too late to tidy it up in any meaningful way. many years of listening to music with a unique ear has resulted in the disordered cabinet of highlights, touchstones, revelations and half recalled good times that make up being lord sabre.

northern disco general and machine music lover craig bratley is back with a firing new ep on his own magic feet label. it features one track from him with danielle moore from crazy p, plus a remix from andrew weatherall and one from heretic. bratley operates on the freakier end of the disco dancefloor, with weird electronics and raw jacking grooves propping up his analogue sounds. he has released on andrew weatherall s bird scarer, has put out a fine album on tsuba and hosts his own kaleidoscopic show on leeds kmah radio, so is an accomplished artist and dj indeed.
