galaxians golden armageddon on natural sciences pulls at the virus that is lodged deep within the collective consciousness of mankind. a record challenging our ideas of bounty and material wealth by placing the human race in the palms of blood-sucking cultural institutions. institutions such as big pharma, religious mega-structures, consumer trends and tax schemes which have worked to reduce human behaviour to fetishised objects and de- humanised masses. it s a record that pulls away the shackles, asking for a new trail of thought through de-programming. electro pulses for enlightenment. get woke.

glasgow based producer, galaxian, is set to drop the 11th release of helena hauff s return to disorder imprint. paradise engineering is an ambitiously psychedelic piece of machine mastery that will be right at home on hauffs label, with which she set out to bring punk rock and techno together in 2015. the label s name refers to the reactionary post-ww1 art movement, return to order, which called for a rejection of the avant-garde in favor of conservatism and classicism. return to disorder has embraced experimentation and genre bending with releases from the likes of children of leir, morah and umwelt. galaxian s proximity to the sharp edge of quantum chaos and belief in the anarchism of nature make him a fitting addition to the hamburg based label.

brooklyn’s dither down records presents galaxians debut long player let the rhythm in, available now on limited edition double gatefold heavyweight vinyl and download. firmly rooted in the club culture and dance lineage of their hometown leeds, ltri s eight tracks bristle and pulse with the same energy that the band s live performances have become well know for. the album s soulful, muscular sound resonates with a raw playfulness, and with the addition of singer emma mason in 2016 the band have forged a path to a sound steeped in the tradition of new york disco and boogie heavyweights such as inner life, gwen guthrie, and producer/writer leroy burgess.

mixing heavy industrial influences with idm and electro to create some high impact sonic weaponry, this new offering from lower parts sees glaswegian producer, galaxian, on fine form. cosmic lifeforms, restless machine lines, frazzled synths and tough hits get things going before the ep moves into more ambient and then onto full force techno territory.

scotland s premier electro alchemist is back on shipwrec and this time flying solo with five shards of sharpened machine music. beats rain down in solid sheets, a hail of drum patterns pelt and pound. acid scorn, speeding snares and scorched sound roar and rumble in the menacing -days of rage.- the 12- hisses and howls, sending forth a searing line of percussion as gears crank and grown. -glasgow to detroit- is just as fiery, scorn and sparks leaping off burning bars. aggression is always at the surface, and behind the razor rhythms lurks a palpable paranoia, as in -daisy cutter- or -uprising.- the only respite comes with the complex and textured -stones and sticks.- harsh mechanics from an industrial heartland.

within the music of galaxians - the duo of matt woodward and jed skinner formed in 2012 - lies a powerfully hedonistic strain that does much to loop a thread through the party lineage of their (adopted?) hometown of leeds. influenced by classic disco and house labels such as sleeping bag and chicago’s trax. from their raucous live shows at punk-associated diy spots to late night gigs with the likes of horse meat disco and auntie flo, this uk duo is making waves with a hedonistic strain of analog funk, disco, and house. includes the epic original and the more subdued siren remix. channeling new york’s late 80s “freak disco” (was not was, liquid liquid, arthur russell) and detroit’s acid house scenes, galaxians produce a maximum output from minimal set-up.

2016 repress - following on almost 5 years after their first release *journey to the centre of the sun* on esp institute. 2 big excursions from a couple of very well respected heads. featuring the label’s very own tako reyenga (red light records, music from memory) and jonny nash (melody as truth, land of light) these two tracks were cut from a weekend of sprawling space-jams recorded in jonny’s north london home in 2012 and until recently were thought to be lost.

das neue outing der kanadischen electro-pop-band young galaxy ist ihr mittlerweile drittes von dan lissvik (the embassy, taken by trees) im schwedischen göteborg produzierte album. inspiriert von 1980 er electro, acid house und r&b, benutzt die band auf falsework analoge maschinen der vergangenheit, um songs mit futuristischen sounds zu kreieren, wie das definitive albumhighlight body. ihr vorgänger ultramarine war anwärter für den kanadischen polaris music prize. ps: die lp erscheint auf pastelfarbigem vinyl, von dem es insgesamt 5 verschiedene töne gibt, die nach dem zufallsprinzip (un)sortiert sind.

prepare to enter the sombrero galaxy. journey to the centre of the sun, the debut release from lovefingers highly anticipated imprint esp institute, is a collaborative effort from londoner jonny nash (discosession) and dutchman tako reyenga. the two met years ago whilst jonny was working and living in tokyo and tako made his way over to dj. around the same time, lovefingers linked up with these two and a musical family had formed. that being told, its only natural for sombrero galaxy to find its home and represent the face of the esp insitute. journey to the centre of the sun is a dive into a moody, visceral and ethereal headspace brought to life through shimmering synthesizers, swirling guitars and a chugging bassline coupled with live percussion, clearly setting the bar higher than the bulk of contemporary electronic music. on the b side, the stallions (lovefingers and lee douglas) reinterpret the track with optimism, nicely complimenting the original with a light and cloudy yet driving house version. this is the music of dreams, keep an eye on esp institute in this new decade.
