praterei might not be the most prolific of labels, but the quality is always way above the quantity. the fourth release on the viennese imprint comes from local boys done good the new tower generation, with a heady two track offering that fits right in with the labels ethos of focusing on the essence of house. the amusing titled >horny goat weed< is a perm twisting delight, with the grainy string sample remoulded to align with the loose jacking rhythms and rave indebted keys. >trembolon< finds the new tower generation in an altogether mellower mood, building with poise from its sonorous beginnings to a glorious mid point crescendo of rising synth lines.

gemmy hails from the hugely influential bristol bass scene. part of the purple trinity along with joker and guido, he already had a big release on the bristol-based punch drunk label and plays by the likes of pinch, joker and mary anne hobbs (radio 1) gemmys debut for planet mu is a bass heavy ride. with p-funk and grime influences, gemmy blends the dub and the step with fat portamento synth lines and computer game fx to great effect ensuring maximum dancefloor impact. supligen is a bass funk attack to the senses giving you a taste of what to expect from gemmys debut album (planet mu ziq230 due august 2009). bristolian synths and shuffle beats are sure to get the wonky heads bouncing. bt tower is another anthemic jump up wobbler with a full-on bass drop that will punish the limiters on any decent rig. watch your bass bins!

lithuanian producer paulius lincius (aka moon disco) presents his first vinyl release on the respected control tower label, run by the dexorcist & radioactive man, and shows a subtlety and deftness of touch that many more experienced producers would envy. treading the path of classic electro can be a dangerous game if the sounds arent just so, but fortunately paulius has been doing his homework and keeps it simple and clean. radioactive man offers up a remix that roughens things up a little bit and throws some datasette-esque sounds into the equation, but still keeps pretty close to the traditional electro blueprint. overall a strong release for those that prefer their beats and bass with a slightly nostalgic edge...
