nearly 20 years ago, a little label started by releasing a handful of lathes containing stories of life in a sleepy city called perth in western australia. inspired by the ocean and the river during long hot summers, red ember’s humble pursuit is deep expression via the practice of analog synthesis. ewan jansen resurfaces to take the helm again on the 3rd vinyl release… an aquatic house music tale that is equally lost at sea as it is freely swimming in the ocean.

the latest release from the swiss duo larytta, entitled jura libre, is a chunky, massive, intelligent, colorful (in that full on tropical way) four-song collection of club bangers. to be exact the full set actually consists of two original songs with an in-house larytta remix a piece. the originals lean on pronounced inflections of playful, tricky, afro-tropical rhythms, while the reworks go for a more direct four-to-the-floor approach straight for the jugular. apart from the vibrant, tight production what unifies all of these tracks is a head nod towards that nineties club sound, especially that golden age acid rave material. this is music made not only by great producers, but heads that really know and love clubbing culture and history and know how to tastefully reference the past. the ep closes with bota mao pra encima which features brazilian emcee junior, and thats the point at which you start to question if this ep was truly cut in switzerland.

c series goes for the smash and grab and gets all funky latino on your ass with 2 tracks of funky floor shaking techno. c4 - cuba libre: this original latin house track gets a monster of a rework to kick things off with a bang, yes i couldnt resist! the deep warbling bassline and rhythmic stabs lead into the original vocal. from there it all moulds into one intoxicating cocktail to put your best foot forward and stomp away, it blends so well youll wonder why it was never done in the first place!? c4 - suavemente: something even elvis would be proud of im sure, elvis crespo that is! this international spanish hit gets funkd up a treat, pure ass shaking dancefloor material. put a funky bouncy bassline, those well known vocals with some rolling percussion and its like youre back on having your own holiday in a club!

(dj harvey fame) who produces solid jazzy piano and sublime chords that just makes you move your feet (remeniscent to some of the best glenn underground tracks) perfectly balanced and not to jazzy or moody. great, great house music! comes with very strong idjut boys remixes which have a more european approach feel. more added percussion and a balearic feel, with nice floating keys and morphing synth
