ltd epress , expectations is an extended player from minimalist disco outfit harvey sutherland and bermuda. the second release for sutherlands own clarity recordings brings his bermuda project into sharp focus - six tracks spanning harveys influences from the west coast to west end records. recorded with bandmates graeme pogson (drums) and tamil rogeon (electric strings), expectations follows last years stomping label debut single * priestess/bravado*. the ep includes a long-awaited studio version of live favourite * clarity*, uptempo burner * coast 2 coast* and a moment of spiritual introspection with * spiders*. the title track offers glimmers of the doobies and the dan – a sign of things to come from the melbourne producer and his unique trio.

harvey sutherland’s latest 12” marks the inaugural release for clarity recordings, an imprint established by sutherland for modern australian records. the first new music from the melbourne producer since last year’s cuts for mcde, the double a-side priestess / bravado features his live trio bermuda at full tilt, with an ensemble of hand clapping friends. self-described “lounge room disco burners”, the record summons the groove experiments of patrick adams, bill laswell and arthur russell, while retaining harvey’s soulful tones and club-ready arrangements. priestess evolves slowly, a nine-minute mind dance that ultimately reaches a celestial state. sutherland’s piano lines bounce off drummer graeme pogson’s unwavering four-on-the-floor, while one-man string section tamil rogeon travels skyward. live standout bravado is played with determined precision, locking into a tough backbeat that only breaks once sutherland’s warbling lead solo approaches its resonant peak.

bermuda is a rare project from kimmo oksanen and roberto rodriguez. fusing synthed out deep house and disco vibes the talented pair have crafted a real blast from the past with the super cool retro styled ihasama. the release comes in three fantastic versions. firstly the thrilling nacho marco remix fuses 80s vibes with a modern approach as he twists the originals synths into an old school jacking house jam! the extended club music edit sees oksanen and rodriguez open up the energy levels with a more discofied, running mix. subtle key changes and some genius instrumentation really bring this mix to life, as its rousing synthlines do the business. finally up and coming uk producer jay shepheard reinterprets ihasama into a funky, light hearted jam thats perfect for the summer sun. soft strings rise and fall before a walking bassline brings it back it back home. more great work from this growing talent!

ital foundation came together in the winter of 1977, out of a shared belief in rastafarianism and deep love of reggae music in their home place bermuda. their music tackles global issues of colonialism, poverty, prophecy and redemption. they released only one album in their legendary career, the 1980 release ital foundations vol.1. a tumultous history rought with trial and tribulation resulted in ital foundation being an underground musical movement that saw record sales all over the world while the band languished in obscurity.

official re-issue of bermudian disco record! 1000 copies initial pressing. big tip! in 1981, bermudian band paradise recorded sizzlin hot, a flawless album of original material in the disco, boogie and aor style. producer, writer and pianist grant williams formed several bands before becoming the fourth member of paradise, alongside bassist wincy woolridge, drummer ronnie lopes and singer june ventzos whose voice commands the album. for five years, the group regularly performed in hotels before hitting the local z.b.m. studios to record their sole album. sizzlin hot is inspired by the sound of earth, wind & fire. the album delivers several blistering tracks that could have been huge club anthems if the record had been promoted outside of bermuda. since bermuda is a fairly remote island, its no wonder that paradise remains virtually unknown to this day. it is all the more reason why this album stands-out and has universal appeal though it was only ever intended as a local thing as grant williams says.

cgi records is extremely proud to be presenting the new ep from oakland via-bermuda based artist russell e.l. butler. i m dropping out of life are 4 cuts of essentialist dance music that can provide an ecstatic escape from the drudges of professional life for all who so rightly seek it. as russell himself elaborates, the title has been on my mind a lot, since i almost lost my life in the ghost ship fire and watched as many of my friends lost theirs. i came up with the title several months ago, in fact 2 of the tracks were shopped in a producer s group that johnny (nackt) and chelsea (cherushii) were a part of, both of whom i lost in the fire. this release is about a commitment to life. the life that i refer to dropping out of, is a life where dreams are put on hold, where concessions are made in order to just survive. but that comes at a cost, one that is far too great for me to pay at this point. i wrote this poem, it ll come as an insert with the record.

avid sequence is a young fresh artist from malta. his music can be intense and energetic with that hint of tension as we can hear in the three tracks he kindly produced for the label. label owner hail blk remixed the second track(bermuda), giving it a grittier approach with his usual trademark percussive elements.

after releasing their own debut record in 2014 the hamburg based group sky walking formed by peter kersten, christian naujoks and richard von der schulenburg now celebrates the launch of their self-titled label. by bringing together an international line-up of artists mostly associated with the new and experimental music scenes in cities like hamburg, berlin and new york sky walking not only establishes a link between different locations and their specific (local) scenes – with the golden pudel club in hamburg somehow functioning as a bermuda triangle – but also between different generations of artists from these scenes.

what s in the du name? 030303 records asked three of their favourite prod ucers with matching names to du an ep together: ann harbour s d marc cantu and mark du mosh & paul du lac, both from the dutch harbour city rotterdam. the result is dynamite! a1-mine motion- is a monsterous jacker in the rawest form how only mr cantu can du! on the b side mark du mosh takes off with a flight to -bermuda- with a hot & steamy roaring electronic beast sitting on the wing of the plane and causing some heavy turbulence. fortunatly du mosh keeps us flying high with some deep emotional synths. last but not least paul du lac delivers a dark psychedelic techtool called -beta rhythm-. a track that creeps under your skin as a virus, causing some serious haziness from noding your head. be aware that this record will appear on vinyl only!

jeremiah r has been responsible for some of the finest electro to be released over the past few years, with his mini albums for tabernacle records being particularly potent. here he launches the distant wave label with eight more chunks of atmospheric, far-sighted futurism. as usual, he flits between ambient style interludes and more expansive dancefloor fare. in the latter category you ll find the motor city techno futurism of -bermuda triangle-, the glistening idm loveliness of -streaming to arcadia-, the larry heard-in-space deepness of -cruiser-, and the drexciyan throb of -jar (jamming avoidance response)-. all are, naturally, both luscious and pleasingly melodious, whilst retaining an intergalactic sense of atmosphere.
