ltd 2021 repress - a wide ranging, eclectic and progressive musical outlook has always been the lack of afro approach. his latest material follows suit as he harnesses disparate musical styles ranging from funk, soul and hip-hop to create a contemporary yet vintage musical escapade of superb songs. on his 4th studio album for freestyle records, the influences, sounds and musical textures are more eclectic than ever. below, adam talks us through some of the his favourite moments on *music for adverts*.

repress - pursuing their explorations in the vast corridors of international funk and disco music, favorite recordings and bruno patchworks hovart present us voilaaa. with this first single composed of 2 tracks that clearly reveal the afro-disco inspiration of this new experience, favorite also expands its new series of disco 12inch singles recently launched with several fine reissues, but this time with one of its special homemade production recipe. under the imprint of the label and after their long years of collaboration in the achievement of projects such as the dynamics, mr president, mr day, patchworks galactic project, or taggy matcher, the insatiable french producer therefore returns to his first love and specialty, disco music, staring this time at the african and caribbean influences. indeed, as everywhere in the 70s and 80s, funk and disco movements were extremely influential in these regions, and in most cases, the combination of the festive, yet sometime futile nature of disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of african music, sounds like a perfect balance. aiming to find back this energy and specific sound, patchworks quickly began producing a few tracks, using his unique and ruling beats and bass lines as foundations, this time he dresses all with guitars, keyboards and brass distorted with vintage and diy effects pedals and boxes. with a very dynamic music scene around him in lyon, where there is no shortage of artists with african origins, he decided to surround himself with singers from the region, even if it means to accompany them on unusual musical paths. a more than successful bet with a result surprising of authenticity, as it’s unveiled by these first two titles alongside sir jean and pat kalla, both from a musical background as rich than different. with an album planned for the end of the year, that promises to be as explosive and magnetic, patchworks and favorite recordings make a strike again and confirm them a little more if needed, as the true warrant of the modern dancefloors loyalty, to the spirit of their mythical ancestors

what do you get when you cross a frenchman, a dane, two irishmen and a swede? the debut various artists compilation from kyoku records, of course. gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back dorsi plantar, sune, long island sound and ethyene (alongside folamour and marc bianco). translating from japanese to a befitting -dancing birds-, the odoru tori ep is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. the orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. on the a side, the scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. dorsi plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with -senorita lolita-, although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he s now come to be known for. -californicate- from sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal golden state. on the flip side, long island sound follow the same recipe that made -delusions- such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of -ease in-. to top things off, ethyene, with the help of folamour and marc bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature french touch formula to great effect on the simply titled -good-.

aussteiger is a berlin based german dj / producer. he runs the dub disco label in berlin and dj’s around the world. zusammenkunft is his debut album released on copenhagen’s music for dreams. once upon a time a golden boy came back from the shadows. rumors were told that he once left the big city in a time where the music scene and clubs were dominated by cold music and average beats. he left behind civilisation, living withdrawn in the woody mountains of a covert place. from there on people talked about him as aussteiger. connected to the nature and deeply rooted in the harmonic essence, aussteiger became a part of the great whole. in a full moon illuminated clear night while experimenting with various unique herbs he accidentally found a recipe to create warm and ravishing music. he firmly believes that music is his infinite source to gather strength and positive energy after years of strengthening himself and shaping vibrant sounds aussteiger decided to share his delightful music with the world. he returned from his retreat in order to enchant the music lovers all over the world with his feel good approach and supernatural sounds. coming back to the city, he also co-founded the awesome dub disco label with his buddy serj nosé.
