for its premier release, division point industries is proud to announce a 4-track ep by rolling ones, a collaborative project featuring johannes auvinen (tin man) and jordan poling (jordan). rolling ones finds its voice in the synthesis of each artist s sound, combining tin man s acidic melodies with jordan s deep, textural pads. debuting at the division point industries residency at bushwick s notorious bossa nova civic club, rolling ones marked their arrival by playing a dj back-to-back set. opening the record is 93 mustang , a muscular, no-nonsense roller built around deep wells of warm bass and slick-piston percussion. as it builds, tin man s signature acidic squelch dances in the remaining space, giving the track a sense of both life and depth. next is faded delorian , an abyssal burner that refracts its ghostly tones around a panning labyrinth of crystalline synths. on the flip is slammed cadillac , a sinewy, stripped down stomper of clattering percussion and caustic 303s. jacked up impala finishes the record as a jacking acid tool. founded by jordan poling, division point industries is a new label built on the success of a collaborative residency with cory james at brooklyn s bossa nova civic club. having hosted artists ranging from the established to the underground, division point industries has crafted a no-nonsense take on deep house and techno that is rich in history while remaining focused on the future.

its been a while since we have seen a release from dfrnt for on the edge, but im proud to announce, the wait is finally over! this ep provides us with an abundance of different flavours, but still retains the genius sound that is dfrnt at the very core of every tune. let me first draw to your attention to >the big freeze<. its a drum and bass track that has been moulded like a true pro. it sounds like dfrnt has been producing d+b for a long time with the finishes on this track, but believe its one of his earlier efforts. its a refreshing bpm for his take on electronic music and hope to hear more of the same from dfrnt soon. then dfrnt shows us what he is all about when he goes all out 4x4. a dirty, gritty techno roller (with a skip) that will blow your socks off! love the production on this one. then we have >monday morning<. this does exactly what it says on the tin, just the type of tune you need to bring you down after a heavy weekend. as though that wasnt enough, there is a 170 remix from man of the moment, indigo! support comes from: hatti vatti, synkro, versa, mary ann hobbs, kissy sell out, fused forces, loxy, dj rum, 501 and truth to name a few.

here uto karem returns to plus 8 for his second release on the label, with the two tracks he serves up - take control and all over you - continuing in the rising italian stars good run of form. as well as being an in-demand remixer, dj and producer, karem also runs his own agile recordings imprint on which he explores the same deep techno rhythms and loopy hypnotism as he does with his two original tracks here.take control is a liquid track which builds in looped layers through piston pumping percussion, up-right beats and plenty of melodic drama. though it pushes on from left to right in true plus 8 style, the warmth and atmosphere that surrounds the main beats and bass is what really sets the track alight. all over you again features a crisp, almost dry production style as various percussive elements flesh out a 4/4 techno groove. hidden within each bar are some wooden sounding hits and various melodic notes, all of which are heart-warming additions to a killer dancefloor groove. as well as this, there is a more driving dub version of take control which canters on a knife edge for its six minute duration, closing out another efficient and streamlined techno release on plus 8.

the second half of the great lengths remixes package offers 3 more vividly contrasting interpretations of album tracks. almost a year on from the release of his debut album >one< and with >saviour of techno< plaudits still bouncing off concrete walls, berghain lynchpin ben klock turns in a remix of is this insanity that distills everything inspirational about both the club and city he calls home. spaceapes cracked vocal is welded to a sort of cavernous piston driven groove while traces of the originals melody fractured into the briefest of shards fight their way to the surface only to sink back into the percussive smog. located well outside of the heavily scrutinised uk hype centres, manchesters rising star illum sphere continues to hone his already distinct sound on the flipsides brilliant orange reworking. a clanking off kilter groove rubs up against an extended mutation of the original melody that pushes the track towards a poignant climax, evoking all the ache of reaching for the stars and landing squarely on ones face.

marcs interest in electronic music starts in 1998. inspired by the legendary hr3 clubnight and mixes by talla 2xlc, ulli brenner, marc spoon he started to spin hard-house (trance)...later on he changed his style in housemusic. now hes arrived in the time of electronic and minimal music. during the years he discovered producing own tracks for himself. so his first e.p. called schalfstoerung was released in 2008 on piston recordings from portugal. several releases on galvanic or musashi/ belgium followed. his style features elements of electro, minimal and techno and also melodic influences. now its time for his first ep on kostbar musik, called purple! including a great rework by david garcet from brussels!

rising star fabrizio mammarella s new slammin tracks for the regenerated bear funk gold are a fine return for the man from pescara, italy. his last work for stevie kotey s bear funk was his amazing remix of piston fiston which appeared alongside the optimus remix. he also made it onto ivan smagghe s fabric compilation with the 2005 bear funk release >tear up<. things are really looking up for this quietly spoken studio don. releases on bear funk, hairy claw, tiny sticks and brontosaurus recs have all turned heads in dj booths and on dancefloors and this release is no exception. low-slung echoed guitars, tight live drums and psyched effects are the order of the day. funk with a smiling face. check the flipside for a piece of another guitar-led number. much slower and blessed out but no less funked-out!
