the fourth release from london-based label eya continues to shape out an intriguing identity that nods to classic techno tropes while charging ahead with their own agenda. label boss jos -planet eya- sets a lively pace with its forthright drum machine jack offset by warm synth licks. evil knebel matches the tempo and weaves in a cosmic set of tones, which poten then cosigns with the equally trippy, propulsive -intransigence-. jos is back at the helm for closing track -purify-, which strikes a darker tone without losing that raw, vintage techno flavour that makes this label one to watch.

jos & eli might seem unknown to many electronic music lovers but they have been releasing great music since 2013. they have been sending me music for a long time and i think we have spend about a year developing this first release on noir music, making sure it represented their debut on the label perfectly.
when you hear the adrenaline hunt release you will notice that the 2 guys from tel-aviv have developed into a great production team over the years and these 3 tracks included here are not only cleverly crafted for the deeper dancefloors but can also be enjoyed on home stereo’s.

review ornate music continues in its mission to reach out to the freshest talent in the house and techno scene by shining a light on emergent german talent faune, following last years stellar releases by ka one & st-sene and homepark. thus far, jakob panthels production as faune has been spotted on the soundscape versions label, while under his own name he has produced two albums released digitally on crystalline days. most recently, he delivered the four-track isvatten ep to tuesday slump, which operates out of his native munich. as well as his rising release schedule, he has been appearing frequently on the circuit in munich and berlin, performing alongside the likes of a made up sound, stefan jòs and skudge. on this ep panthel delivers three tracks of deep, hardware-powered techno with a keen dancefloor instinct, fitting right in to the ethos of ornate and marking another step forward for faune.

around 1980 menko konings (em.) started the dutch underground formation s.m. nurse, first together with jos jak and later also with anneke stempher. s.m. nurse experimented with collage-like music and were inspired by n.y.-ultra, disco e.g. the band mainly performed in the amsterdam ultra-circuit (oktopus, paradiso), clubs and discotheques. they were played regularly on the famous radio programmes radionome and spleen and performed live on radio in the villa of the vpro in hilversum. they also contributed to the theme cassette turkish delight of the label ding dong and there was a cassette release on the label top tape. at the end of 1983, s.m. nurse split up.<vr />limited edition of 500 copies.

void vision is a philadelphia based solo female minimal synth / cold wave project from shari wallin. already included by rough trade in their seminal synth wave compilations, the single is anticipating her full lenght *sub rosa*, out for mannequin records later in 2014. remix by vanzetti & sacco aka jos van galen with the otto kraanen, the boss of the acclaimed bordello a parigi from rotterdam! limited edition of 300 copies on aqua vinyl.

introducing jos lieferink, amateur astronomer and electronic musician from the hague. since the mid 1970s phochos has been dabbling with organs and synthesizers, releasing an incredible number of cds and tapes on his own orion records label. phochos has long been a treasured secret, hidden from the general public in a maze of porch housing. secretely admired by the west coast cognoscenti, who finally decided to share him with the world, cause music, like, wants to be free, you know! >interface phrase 1< is a deep dutch techno banger, very much in the style of old ross 154. glaciers is a classic ambient phochos track from the early 2000 s. released on limited edtion icy cold clear vinyl.

for the joy of those who know (and even more so for those who dont...), here come some classics with the capital c. treated, reworked and re edited by the unusual suspects, these gems shine for quality originality, and most of all, variety. from the late 60s (b2) to the 21st century (b3 came out only a few years ago), this 12inch encompasses some immortal tracks that bring joy to whomever the listener. different folks, different strokes, yet a1 had to be one of the most air played tune of the 80s, given the popularity it still enjoys. a2 is one of the finest moments in a legendary funkateers career: top class arrangements and groove. b1 sounds like the perfect summer outdoor party tune...boogie oogie oogie! no... not that one thats been rinsed for decades, this ones less predictable. b2 shows theres room for bop modal deepness in this killer 12inch, going back as far as the late 60s... on blue note of course. closing the series b3, a real surprise duet of the new millennium from an album that even topped the charts in 2004... smashing! dj or not, this 12inch is real hot! bring out those summer bbq grills, for we got the soundtrack.

in keb darges own words: i ve done many a compilation in my day, mostly based around the tunes i played at my long running deep funk nights in madame jo jos. that night is no longer on the go, possibly due to a growing lack of interest on my part, (sorry). in the last few years the lost & found: nights at the club have been my real passion, and indeed little ediths and andy smiths passion too. what a marvelous era this is for good music. we may still have pure stuff like dub step: pulling in large numbers of sheep, but an equal number of youngsters are being attracted to retro, or at least retro sounding music. people tell me it is because the youth are fed up with computerized music, or men with drug problems angrily shouting at them over a dull repetitive beat, but i know lots of teenagers who have bypassed this muck all together. must be the internet that is helping kill off the demand for empty music. you no longer need to go to a retro club night, or indeed search out rare records to be exposed to good music, the internet is full of the stuff. my fifteen year old daughter is a marc bolan fan who while researching the poor fellows influences discovered chuck berry, sun records, etc, etc. i dont really know or understand why so many are at last getting into the good stuff, but they are, and it is wonderful for the likes of me.
