jake childs returns to icon under his morning star moniker with a remake of the nitzer ebb join in the chant from 1988. join in the chant bacame a classic alongside groups like ministry and front 242 and helped define the future of dance music. with this interpretation jake keeps things deep, retaining the key vocal hooks and bassline while taking the rest of the production in a more subtle direction.

jake childs requires very little introduction to the more discerning house ear. with releases on leading labels including drop music, freerange and doubledown, not to mention his own uni.form imprints, he has taken the house world by storm over the past few years. here he serves up some retro chicago sounding yet stripped back jackers. seems really simple at first, a real trademark of jake s sound, but its bumpin bassline, bleeps and squelches grow around you becoming more intense with every listen. the flip delivers >good times< which incorporates his brand of choppy jackin beats, punchy snares, gritty synths and rolling bass that rips apart any dancefloor. the track flips mid-way and bubbles under as the bass lines compete for attention before recombining for another roof raising moment. the >beat machine< is an eerie voyage into the middle ground between house and pop. once again moody synths and a growling sub bass lead the way, with the haunting vocals of lil prince (who has previously featured on jake s icon and drop music eps) gliding over the mix! hot floor burning shit

nach dem überaus erfolgreichen start mit veröffentlichungen von konzerten aus dem legendären hamburger club onkel pÖ im frühjahr des jahres und dem überwältigenden presseecho setzt das label jazzline in zusammenarbeit mit dem norddeutschen rundfunk die reihe ab oktober 2017 fort. der amerikanische trompeter freddie hubbard gastierte mit seinem quintett im oktober 1979 im onkel pö. in der besetzung mit hadley caliman (dax), billy childs (keys), larry klein (bass) und carl burnett (dr) präsentiert sich der trompeter in bestechender form. als freddie hubbard nach hamburg kommt und auf die bühne klettert in „onkel pö’s carnegie hall“, steht er vermutlich so prominent wie selten zuvor oder danach mitten im zentrum der jazz-entwicklung – mit herbie hancock und wayne shorter, ron carter und tony williams hat der trompeter drei jahre zuvor das quintett „v.s.o.p.“ formiert, und da die vier anderen ehedem das legendäre zweite quintett um miles davis gebildet hatten, stand freddie hubbard jetzt quasi in dessen direkter nachfolge. ein jazzgeschichtliches zeitdokument!
