almost exactly a year after his first ep on byrd out (the kiyadub ep), the legendary andrew weatherall returns with new material for a second release. andrew invited a mate round to his studio to try out a les paul his friend was looking to buy. as it turns out, his mate was ride s (and oasis ) guitarist andy bell. anyway, andrew suggested he test the guitar out over a track he was working on, and ‘making friends with the invader’ is the resulting track, which andrew paired with the ep’s title track ‘blue bullet’. both tracks plough the trippy, cosmic dub furrow, and come in at a weighty 8 and 9 minutes plus. 1000 vinyl only, and 200 cassettes. grab them while you can! mastered by noel summerville. artwork by g.s-l studio

little boots has teamed up with a variety of artists to remix her burn ep, with metronomy s anna prior s remix of eros the lead single from the remix ep. anna takes little boots new wave of electro pop and disco rhythms and punts them in a more house direction, with beautiful string underlay. eros (anna prior remix) is released on a bright orange cassette, and limited to only 300 copies. period.

detail: having persuaded flamingods to dj at an east london food bank fundraiser (£7k raised for eat or heat), byrd out hounded them to produce a remix ep of their 2017 kewali ep, bringing together a team of intriguing artists. erol alkan s co-conspirator in beyond the wizard s sleeve, richard norris takes mixed blessings in a more a dancefloor friendly direction, liverpool 3 piece stealing sheep paint a hypnotic gloss on the title track, bringing out the colours in a downtempo sunrise of a remix, made for 6am, the quietus darlings vanishing twin s remix starts at a run and carries on from there, most obviously absorbing the middle eastern vibe. the ep is a step forward at a time when the world seems bent on looking backwards. artwork by james burgess, mastered by the legendary noel summerville.
