tony ollivierras issued a generous number of singles and eps under the ibex moniker on rushhour, planet e, yore, and his own ibex music, and now follows up his 2010 yore release, meltdown, with absolution, though this time under his birth name. no matter: ollivierras music sounds great, whether issued under his real name or an alias, and absolution is no exception. the infectious title cut gets things moving with a bass-powered blend of claps and funky rhythms before chunky house chords and silken synth figures add to the tracks multi-layered splendour. a jazzier dimension rises to the surface of quick release when the tunes churning hi-hats are joined by royally swinging electric piano playing and luscious synth pads.phase down opts for a purer deep house sound in its focus on kick drums, claps, and futuristic synths, though the track proves that ollivierras naturally funky side cant help but emerge, here as it does elsewhere.

>the movie song album< is a 1966 studio album that consists of songs from films, opening with the theme from the oscar. bennett described the album in his autobiography as his all time favorite record. among the arranger and conductors were none other than neal hefti and quincy jones.

duets ii is another collection of american songbook standards performed in the best of ways. it includes collaborations with the best voices of music: aretha franklin, natalie cole, norah jones and k.d. lang grace the recording booth with this legendary singer.
but it is the tragic and premature passing of amy winehouse that makes this album truly special, her appearance on the duet >body and soul< is the last known recording of the british songbird, and it is a truly heartrending version of the 1930 jazz classic. if this isnt grammy material, we dont know what is!

having originally released tony rohrs oddlantik avenue album back in february, cari lekebuschs h-productions have done what they do best and clubbed together between their tight roster of like-minded artists to come up with a eye-widening selection of reworks for this remixes ep.
left to their own devises to pick what tracks to remix, the individuals own tastes came to the fore. the advent unsurprising opted for the twisted techno killer >eden acid< while cari lekebusch jumped at reworking the crazily tripped out >rz-fun< and alexi delanos low-slung mix of >nightdrive< is beautifully melancholic and deeply intense with fizzing percussion.
