buffered multiple is the techno a/v project of vienna electro poster boys microthol. buffered multiple return to pomelo after their debut on our 20 yrs compilation and subsequent eps on other imprints. buffer 05 starts off with prime time in super-saturated dub techno mode, its sublimely textured chords ambling hypnotically over a tense and pounding beat. shitty track changes gears into jack mode, with a bleepy morphing swing hook that drives up the intensity over a percussive beat and takes all the right cues from chicagos second wave productions. junolized delves deep into the abyss again, its expansive echoes weaving intricate layers of dub over a foundation of bottomless bass.

„spectral decay” is a collection of musical reflections about the paradoxical contemporary state of humankind, whereas its own technological, social, cultural and economical development seems to entrench the possible points of a structura downfall. the narrative of „spectral decay” starts with heavy, mesmerizing industrial vibes. due to the notable sound design techniques of japanese artist tetsumasa, his hefty piece „nex” evolves into a harsh but still amazingly cinematical music sculpture. subsequent mid-tempo composition „onzour shayatini” by meer dynamically follows the dark, experimental path of drone and noisy structures. violent accents smoothly lead to the deconstruction of drum & bass patterns and turn into strident 90s metal riffs. the track progressively penetrates obscure subterranean abysses and becomes a perfect introduction to the next theme by yuji kondo – „hades”. in greek mythology hades was the ancient god of the underground kingdoms, darkness, death and metals. therefore, kondo’s music piece turns into an infernal portrayal of the underworld where tenebrous layers of bass frequencies, raw textures and drexciyan sounds build up an enormous and lasting tension. side b begins with the track „anthropocene” produced by arboretum co-founder – mogano. the whole composition refers to the present geological epoch we live in, characterized by environmental pollutions, depletion of fossil fuels and accelerated urbaniza- tion of the world. it is a deeply conceptual soundscape of a powerful system, that incorporates both – the destructive forces of technology and the infinite energy of the whole universe, that interweave in a devilish dance of post-techno, breakbeat and dub tones. thereafter, ~raw in his piece „poly bios” pictures the interference of human structures in the nature. creating a mosaic from indus- trial and tribal, organic sounds, he tells a mystical story of fear, hope, escape and primeval instincts. the narration concludes with an atmospheric composition of nwrmntc – solo project of ana quiroga from experimental ambient duet lcc. „beyond” is a boundless, spectral reflection on collective human consciousness, where haunting vocals evoke a recon- dite, ineffable pain, leaving the listeners in a profoundly meditative state. laura polan&#769,ska

a much in demand reissue of two of nyc born-and-bred, pal joeys, classics from his joint label with reynald deschamps, loop dloop. first up, party time which harnesses that 90s nyc underground house energy with a rawness that was to emanate through many of pal joeys subsequent productions. scalpel in hand, joey expertly crafted this sample laden groover, his trademark stuttering, off-kilter rhythms, loops and fills keeping listeners on their toes throughout, never knowing how the next phrase might unfold. on the flip, raw love utilises a seminal disco classic as its main sample source, looping it in a way only pal joeys mind knows how, adding percussive hits and extra effects to create an innovative, animated and exhilaratingly rhythmic dancefloor bomb. both tracks are perfect examples of the simplicity and seeming effortlessness that pal joey maintains in his productions, adhering to the mantra that less is more but with a resonating rawness that touches deep down in the soul.

cirez d is back again with three massive big room anthems on his mouseville imprint. straight out of the stall dare u builds and builds layering a pounding kick, soaring synths and rumbling bass enticing you in with each build up and subsequent drop, before repeating it all again to added effect. a2 - the glitch has an industrial and sinister feel to it, combining a rapid-fire bass and metallic sounding percussion before opening up into a melting pot of arps and sonic glitches. ‘black hole closes out the e.p drawing you in with a swell of synths, an unrelenting bassline and a killer kick pattern to send your mind into overdrive. with early support across the festival circuit, this is a three track weapon fit for any discerning djs arsenal.

it doesn t get much bigger than this: adam beyer links up with green velvet and drumcode s outstanding rising star layton giordani for a debut collaboration. some musical partnerships feel fated. both fans of one another s work, for years adam beyer and green velvet had discussed writing music together. in turn, beyer s protégé layton giordani had admired the chicagoan s work for as long as he could remember. when the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at belfast s shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. with the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio s creative chemistry would manifest musically. ‘space date was conceived organically and birthed quickly. propelled by green velvet s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that s highlighted sets by beyer at awakenings, ushuaia and also edc vegas when green velvet dropped it to a raucous response. the track is complimented by rome future , the product of a year-long series of productions between beyer and giordani. deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who ve followed their sets over recent months.

mennie and julien sandre team up under their jarau alias for an impressive ep on one records. dubnova features two originals that span hypnotic synths, warm, sonic basslines and intricate spacey layers. for the remix, musical craftsmen dewalta and voigtmann join forces for the first time since their monumental ground effect ep on jan kruger s hello? repeat in 2014. here they showcase the more techno side to their production skills. friends and colleagues, mennie and julien, began the jarau project in 2017 to experiment and push creative boundaries. 2018 saw the release of their interstellar ep on respected vinyl imprint pleasure zone, which will be followed by this heavy-weight offering on one records. tenax resident mennie was named by dj mag as one of the most prominent emerging italian producers. born in france and now based in italy, julien runs the acclaimed blind box vinyl only label, which he started in 2015. meander boss dewalta a.k.a david koch is one of the most admired artists in the industry, not only a talent behind the decks he delivers a remarkable live set and has released a wealth of music on key underground labels. claus voigtmann was originally born in germany but bases himself in london, where he co-founded the underground and conceptual party, toi.toi.musik. this year sees the release of his eagerly anticipated album and a focus on his subsequent imprint, also playing regularly alongside adam shelton and subb-an for their one records showcases

a chance encounter at university during the acid house summer of ’88 and subsequent bonding over baby ford’s “oochy koochy” established a life-long friendship between leicester lads, jimi o’callaghan and al green. inspired by the sounds of detroit, early ny house like murk and masters at work and the emerging uk sounds of lfo, orbital and aphex twin, the pair began djing and making music as the wild geese. their first ep, “the wild geese ep”, was released in 1994 on their own giddy goose recordings imprint. the guys pressed 500 copies and, with jimi’s connections made interning with pete tong’s ffrr, sold copies direct to london shops. the record sported packaging designed to look like an american 12” and an accompanying press release attributed the ep to a fictitious dj duo hailing from wisconsin. rave reviews followed and a distribution deal was struck with vital uk, who produced and sold another 500 copies worldwide. another ep followed a year later. sadly, plans for a third ep on the label never materialized, but the pair remain close to this day. 24 years later we are honored to reintroduce this genre-defying, uniquely forward-thinking ep to today’s dance floors.

following on from the epic hammer e.p. and subsequent remix package, loft records return for their 7th release enlisting the expertise of crawford to provide two original tracks with remixes from brame & hamo and kiwi. ‘we go back is a soaring synth driven stomper - building around dynamic arps and heavy bass synths, before a driving kick and soaring pads are brought to the fore to create an expertly produced big room anthem. techno rhumba is a chuggier affair laced with spring reverb, floaty arpeggiators, expansive stabs and brooding chords perfect for those early hours of a night. on the flip side, irish duo brame & hamo are first up to take on remix duties for we go back . they rework the arp lines and pads for the intro before dropping it into a tougher techno workout of heavy duty synth stabs, epic ride cymbals and dreamy textures. kiwi then close out with their reimagining of we go back combining a killer tom pattern with those soaring arpeggiators that seem to endlessly resonate around your brain. two great reinterpretations of what was already an amazing track

appearing out of nowhere in particular in 2017, donald dust s debut ep for no bad days and subsequent fleeting cameos for bordello a parigi and paradise palms introduced the world to his musical sphere: wbmx radio mixes, ron hardy drum tracks, the golden era of italo synths and the rawer fledgling sounds of eurodisco-influenced house circling and overlapping in his productions and dj sets.

the new 7&#8243,, mars r-trax mines the depths of youtube modular synth demos, adam & fleisner sfx and disco drum 12&#8243,,s resulting in a two-part dj tool for cosmic punks.

2018 repress - bicep make their way home to feel my bicep records for their first 12” on the imprint since their collaborative ‘dahlia’, recorded with hammer, back in september of 2015. fmb006 is a notable addition to the label - a reimagining of blaze’s seminal recording ‘lovelee dae’ - originally released on classic back in 1997, before a string of subsequent re-issues and remix packages on playhouse, true and urban tracks that included carl craig and 20:20 vision. the remix was originally designed to be included in their essential mix in 2014, but a lack of space has meant that its pressing on fmb is the first time it sees the light of day. using ralph lawson and carl finlow’s classic aforementioned acapella version as the basis of their work, the bicep lads ensnare an air of swooning euphoria in their remix that stays true to both their original productions and their dj sets. shortened vocals suffuse galloping 909s and a gleaming synth riff that certify it as a festival fail safe

kantamoinen is perhaps the most intimately beautiful yet little known lp in mika vainio s Ø canon, bridging the gap between his classic ‘90s minimal techno productions - compiled in the vital metri and olento collections - and the project’s subsequent turn to more ambient, kosmic and dub wise dimensions in the coolly brilliant oleva and konstellaatio albums.

since his appearance on soccer96s jupiter masterdrive edits ep (alongside danny krivit and glenn astro flips, also on wotnot ) in 2015, and subsequent eps on wotnot, monologues and sgol, danvers has swiftly become a name to pay attention to. as a regular appearance on co-ops selectors assemble, both live and on their recent comp vol. 2, he s established himself as a new and original voice on the broken beat scene. his recent the future is broken mix series highlights his ear for unconventional dance music, something that makes him extremely at home on the wildly creative wotnot (thanks dj mag). the opening two tracks are strongly in the broken beat vein. mason opens with dreamy, rhodes jazz over a bruk beat with rolling snare fills, lulling us into a false sense of security before switching to an offbeat but irresistible squelchy synth groove. similarly, in aye ata the pulsing chord that slowly grows out of the beat suddenly turns the track around with a rhythmic twist, showing the playful broken beat in a whole new light. there s a house touch throughout the ep, none more so than in 1997, where a bouncing kick, soulful claps and a booming sub provide a steadier basis for laid back rhodes chords and dreamy spoken word samples. as a big influence on danvers music, frits wentink is welcomed onto remix duty with open arms. the wolf music regular brings an otherworldly vibe to his take on 1997 , with enchanting but almost disorienting chord swells and spiralling vocal fx punctuated with crisp snare rolls. the ever-busy danvers recently launched 38 east , a studio space and music community, with warren xlnce . warren s remix of 1997 was a surprise gift to his business partner and collaborator, and is a deeper house cut, joe armon jones (brownswood) rhodes jam over the track bringing a distinct peckham flavour. dj support from ig culture, andwot (touching bass), neue grafik & evm128 (co-op) t williams

dread recordings have remained on the forefront since they began releasing music in the early 90s. since then, both drum & bass and the imprint have moved from strength to strength, with dread staying true to the sound which remains a pinnacle of the genre’s roots. and alongside head honcho, ray keith, the british legend that played a pivotal part in the early jungle scene, their a&r skill has remained the same since their first signing. their subsequent lp ‘ray keith presents: margaman’ is a testament to this, rolling out a definitive part of the dread recording’s roster to bring this 2 track 12- sampler to the thirteen track album which once again puts their commitment to drum & bass on a podium.

originally released in 1984, identical-twin-brother duo aleem’s release yourself gets a timely repress. this is an early electro masterpiece that goes a long way in showing what subsequent trends have inherited (vocal sample re-pitch, reverence for drum machines, etc.) and what, for better or for worse, they’ve largely discarded (infectious, funky positivity). they don’t make it like this anymore. comes with free titular advice to any artists struggling for label deals.
