ashley woz westlake is back with a nod to the sounds that have inspired him. moving away from the moodier melodies of his more recent writing, new tracks celsius and grain mark an exploration into some new techniques and sounds. feeling inspired after listening to some old bits from the great terrance parker and kerri chandler, woz loaded a 909 into his rytm and a vox, bongos and chords into a sampler with the intention of working on his workflow and having some fun. the end product was celsius which was quickly snapped up by lobster boy and left woz needing a second track for the release. he wanted to roll with the similar theme of giving his take on an older sound, so using the same workflow on the drum machine and sampler he wrote a track heavily inspired by his love for electro.

voyeur aka benson herbert and leo picking, are the young pair that broke through back in february 2012 with a remix of bombay bicycle club. soon after kerri chandler invited them to release on his madhouse and madtech imprints. before long the uk duo were sharing booths with the likes of frankie knuckles, masters at work, dennis ferrer and cassy. i album sampler is a limited ep of the more dancefloor friendly tracks which kicks off with the captivating production lost in paris . the a2 sees long beach island feat. kerri chandler with rippling drums and numerous mesmerising nuances merged together. on the flip patron saint generates a low-slung groove from start to finish, that features label head honcho kerri chandler. last but not least sees the tribal percussion and soaring synths of nina

some more uncut diamonds by s4aw... robert nedelcu aka lecsicu from rural romania is only 26 but already a skillful and dedicated producer of oldschool-flavoured house music with a tek-edge. on top we ve got vocals by berinika van wyk a singer born in south africa. robert was inspired by guys like rick wade, mr. g, kerri chandler, and of course moodyman. his trademark are strong percussions, little harmonies every now and then and a “tracky” atmo to his tunes that sound very chicago-ish. all three original tunes are pure, vintage-style house music a little on the tech side. so this clearly is an ep for the dancefloor and for early morning sessions when the sun s coming up again... “route to 95” received a groundbreaking rework by detroit house music veteran gari romalis. with incredibly deep subbass sequencies he makes this tune a deep jam like you never heard one befor

following the revival last year of the basic collective ep sascha continues the series with a really special guest aquarius heaven. the a side is a tribute the legendary kerri chandler and labels such as king street, shelter and madhouse. it includes a full vocal house track as well as an instrumental version of the same. on the b side sascha goes back to his deeper detroit roots. pure old-school house music.

concept e25 is back! wax classic 15 sees concept e25’s third release on the label in the space of just a year! the demand has been overwhelming for more garage house hits with that added subtle, french flourish. we heard those cries, so here we have another slammin four track record from the man himself! the opening track of the ep, sing!, is destined for greatness this summer on dance floors everywhere. for me, this will be the go-to track of the record for most djs out there. on this track, concept e25 combines a pumping kerri style bassline with beautiful sustained chords, feel good vox cuts and the occasional sax line. proper hands-in-the-air vibes here! giving it takes the ep into a deeper realm, one that evokes images of late evening summer sunsets. however, the garage swing and signature concept e25 bass sound is still present. lies leads with moody chords before introducing a vocal that will be stuck in your head for a long time! again, we have a smooth sax line to accompany the vocal up to the track’s climax. rounding out this solid release is feel this way. here, the punchy bass hits are united with an acid line that bubbles underneath, before being unleashed halfway through the track in a warehouse-reminiscent burst of resonance.
