the kings of house nyc (aka louie vega & david morales) team up with julie mcknight for a double pack of mixes of still here.

an all-time rave classic gets the gerd janson re-loving as he works his magic on the 1992 anthem dont go. 26 years on from it s first release, gerd takes the tempo down a notch laying out that all too familiar drum break, instantly recognisable piano line and julie mcdermott s timeless vocals. his subtle touches and added weight, behind a pounding kick, are sure to set any dancefloor alight. about as euphoric as they get - if this doesn t do the business then god help us all. on the b side, belfast s ejeca flips don t go into a heavy-hitting, rave tinged, techno bomb. his inventive sampling turns the synth stabs and vocals on their heads, making them almost indistinguishable, but no less impactful, from the original. it s over four and a half minutes till the iconic chord progression is heard in it s initial form, before ejeca throws it back into a rapid fire, industrial thumper. lastly, gerd serves up a vip dub mix echoing claps and synth lines into the stratosphere, whilst leaving the vocals at bay, save a short cry of don t go from julie towards the end of the track, allowing those anthemic elements to do the talking. a modern touch on an all-time classic from gerd with a complete reinterpretation from ejeca, this is a heavyweight release and one thats already being played by the biggest and the best out there.

the next release from sol asylum was uniquely crafted between julie marghilano and illustrator olga olkaosadzi&#324,,,ska. in this collaborative effort each artist found inspiration in each others work to create and finalize their vision of this release. conjuring beats from the mpc paired with modulated violin and synthesis, julie added a modern twist to the music that originally inspired her to create electronic music. expect the unexpected with the ep titled mercury jasmine and open up your imagination to what flowers would sound like on distant planets.

now the new ep takes the whole adventure even a step further and features two vocal songs featuring julie runa from copenhagen based band roxy jules: µeighty fourã is a killer krautrock / post punk tune with intermittent screaming synths, while µplaying in the nightã is a more darkwave-meets-surf rock via a laboratory of electronics and noisy guitar layers - thrilling stuff.

terrific record! eight charged, intimate meditations by julie normal and olivier demeaux, playing a rickety ondes martenot and an old church harmonium. gripping, detailed, stately improvisation — a bit like the ùrlars in classical bagpipe music — which nervily mixes the sternly doom-laden with precarious, other-worldly wonderment. early support from raresh, akufen, and jan krueger, next up on sol asylum is non other than julie marghilano with her innerspace ep. taking the listener to another dimension of sound, she brings her range of musical knowledge to create a solid package with a stunning remix from fred p. starting things off on a analog journey with “innerspace” we move through an interstellar universe with detailed grooves full of percussive splatters and echoing synths that moves us into a dream like state of mind. conjuring the jazz planet in berlin with“katzbachjazz”you are immediately transported to a galaxy of sound with galloping percussion and a classic techno layout. using more 909 techno drum elements she creates a whirlwind of sound with a delicate touch. taking things a little bit deeper with “cosmic karma” she presents a heavily detailed drum structure full of violin experimentation that creates a dark atmosphere but still bringing an uplifting and joyous vibe. finishing off the package is something unique from fred p who julie asked to remix for her due to her enormous respect for him. the emotionally charged remix of“cosmic karma” shows a different side of fred p while still keeping his signature sound in tact. the remix takes us through an ever-evolving voyage through time and space.
