dark entries is proud to present a 4-song ep of songs by the italo disco duo of domenico ricchini and joe garrasco. domenico formed his first rock band in 1974, and four years later his first disco band. during the early 80 s he produced records under various names like delanua, bob salton and sylvi foster.

back to back 70s roots shots from joe morgan, his first and second ever tunes. while many know joe from his wackie s anthem basement session, joe was already producing himself in the mid 70s on his own afro black label in jamaica before coming to nyc. both of these tunes are stone cold classics long hunted by roots collectors, and the rhythms used should be familiar to astute listeners from other brilliant cuts. joe continued to record and produce himself and other artists on his own main imprint fish tea, and other labels label thru the 80s. the two tunes issued on this fish tea 12inch both originally appeared as afro black label 45 s in jamaica, and the b-side also on a pet shop label 45 in nyc

joe morgans stop them is killer late 70s militant roots, self-produced and originally released on his own jomor music house label (under the name billy joe morgan) in nyc. awesome vocal, majestic horns, heavy rhythm, a shining example of the brilliance of late 70s roots reggae and how perfectly suited the style was for the extended mix 12inch single discomix format. we ve added something special for this reissue (now on joe s main imprint fish tea). not only do we have the original 12inch replicated in full, but also an awesome and previously unreleased late 80s digital recut of the tune entitled warrior. unfortunately a dub version for this cut was never mixed, but we are grateful to have uncovered another gem from mr. morgan, one of the crucially under recorded and underrated artists of his time.

in 1990 joe lewis teamed up with singer darryl goodlett to form the shortlived survival. now on clone classic cuts their midnight dancin finally gets a full release with all the versions. 2 of which were never released at the time. to top it of simply yours by dj joe lewis also from the original midnight dancin ep. remastered by alden tyrell.

for its 6th release on ed banger records busy p asked his longtime friend from los angeles mayer hawthorne to write a love song. while the world is going crazy, the only answer is love. the song was recorded between threesome studio in paris and mayer’s own in l.a. to complete this ep, we’ve asked uk’s finest producers. the mysterious kda who’s topping uk’s charts, delivers an infectious remix with mental drums and funky twist. hot chip’s main man joe goddard has been one of my favorite producer ever. it was about time to have him on board! reckonwrong dropped the hottest ep of 2015 on young turks sublabel whities. his remix is pure magic. exotic beats with techno flavours. last but not least, we went experimental on this one! this is the first flow machines remix. the goal of flow machines is to research and develop artificial intelligence systems able to generate music autonomously or in collaboration with human artists.

washington, dc native joe quarterman had his first hit in 1973, an instant funk classic that was part of the capital city’s red hot 70s funk scene. “so much trouble on my mind” is a party rocking anthem still being sampled and played over 40 years later. fort knox five recently got quarterman back in the studio to record a new song, the stripped down funk banger “don’t go”.
