approaching complexity is tangent’s sophomore album release for n5md, a label that has seen accomplished releases from the likes of near the parenthesis, bvdub, and loess among others. throughout its nine offerings, the record features a gorgeous contemplative piano that hangs in the air amidst static clicks and dense atmospheres. its delicate touch feels both melancholic and stirring, as exemplified on tracks “equilibrium i (ii & ii)” and “awaken.” the latter cut is a fascinating work comprised of nearly inaudible whisper-song vocals and swelling ambience, its waves a thick froth of a toppled surf underneath tickled ivory. like the rise and fall of a heavy chest, this sound leads to the track’s conclusion, an elongated departure of breath.
a similar ending can be heard on the track “redundancy” which is complemented by the official video premiering at igloo magazine. jittering frames of concrete grass animations are edited to the rhythmic snippy percussion. this is juxtaposed by images of ice cascading off a rocket launch in slow motion and vapor in reverse. see below.
at almost an hour in length tangent’s new album is their most complete sonically, never straying from its core essence. a quality release that in its nature is both bound to existence and is otherworldly in its simplistic beauty.

aesthete obfuscation (computer club) computer club presents aesthete (aka thom barnett) with his debut release obfuscation. a 4 track ep of bass-heavy minimalism. micro-precise percussion bursting through minimal electronics with chattering industrial machines, the 4 tracks take an experimental approach directly to the dance floor. we first encountered the unique aesthete sound in a dark former ballroom in sheffield in early 2016 and were mesmerised by his sonic assault. as the name suggests, barnett s skill isn t confined to audio. a talented designer, he runs mamnick, an internationally renowned brand sold online and via outlets including a flagship store in tokyo. mamnick clothes and items blend sheffield craftsmanship with a love of cycling and a sharp aesthetic eye. everything barnett turns his attention to is expertly crafted and this debut ep on computer club is no exception.

early september will see jorge savoretti release his river plate ep via visionquests special edition imprint, comprising three original compositions from the argentinian artist. having been involved in electronic music as a dj for over two decades now jorge savoretti is firmly cemented as one of the argentinas finest electronic music exports, starting from his humble beginnings in rosario he has gone on to release material with esperanza, claque musique and igloo-rec as well as touring the globe throughout. here we see jorge mark his debut for the visionquest special edition imprint with a new three tracker and taking the lead is title track river plate, radiantly showcasing savorettis dub-infused percussive led style with choppy swinging drums, ethereal pad swells a snaking sub groove and dub chords which ebb and flow throughout. following is parana high which takes a more refined, low-slung approach via soft chord flutters, bright stab sequences and bumpy sub hits while a shuffled percussive drive further fuels the groove. last up to complete the package is u-fonk which delves into darker territories with mind- bending glitch synths, robust rhythms and a vacillating bass lead running throughout its six minute duration.

the 4th ark to ashes release features various artists. 1st we have a collaboration between 2 of the analog room residents, shadi megallaa & siamak amidi. up next are the leftback boys, michael mclardy & dudley strangeways. the a-side features a new project called apse by shadi megallaa & sasha kaline of alka rex. lastly the ep ends with the linguinis remix of monotax which was previously released on igloo records.

district of corruption is proud to present a very unique collaboration between dilo and egon orange. dilo hails originally from buenos aires and is known for connecting the two worlds of rock and electronics. dilo is currently living in a perpetual summer, splitting his time between berlin and buenos aires. dilo is running his own imprint, igloo records, and has released on numerous other labels such as we are, minus, clink, unfoundsound, and einmaleins. egon orange made is production debut in 2009 on igloo. egon has also been refining his unique live show for several years. >take me home< is a tech-house gem. strong and repetitive percussion is set against dilos own fragile voice make this a perfect summer storm. we expect you will want to take this one home as the memory of a perfect night out. >röte< is the perfect flip. warm special pads pulse along with deeply hypnotic percussion and bass. ear candy is abundant but this is a no-frills journey. >röte< gently develops with lush analog keys and heavily processed vocal oddities.

gurtz is back on einmaleins. after great releases for igloo, lomidhigh, adjunct and remixes for someone else and david keno in 2009, gurtz starts 2010 with two deep and functional movers perfect to push you through the deeper moments and on to the floor.

after many successful tracks on labels like minibus, front, lazerslut and igloo these two georgians guys well seen also by richie hawtin and co. go on splitsound for their first vinyl in techno/minimal style with big impact for the dancefloor. the two tracks in classic split style are enriched by a remix from the talented flavio diaz (young artist already out on label like analytictrail, loos, rilis, weavemusic).

dan quin has spent the last 10 years of his life mapping & mastering the animal & natural world of his promised land, the bottom of the earth, the south pole, antarctica, >the end of the world<ùand apparently producing some of the newest in dark analog driven techno & house. determined to create what he called >an artistic testament to the great antarctic expanse,< quin employed the recordings on his 1st 12 inch release, the haunting and epic >at the end of the world.< we can only hope he continues to labor away in his igloo of inspiration, hearing further calls of primitive encouragement and continuing his crusade to bring the beautiful silence of the arctic to our warm & ready earlobes.

the talented foundsound-dj ben parris has been seen the last few years releasing tracks and remixes on labels like microcosm and igloo. >toga party< and >pivolganarkotik< and two funky fresh organic-sounding minimal tracks that in a great way complements the flipside by swedish berlin-resident fredrik larsson aka kroppssprak. he delivers the building monster of a track which is >kawo< and the clubbier >ufsi, ufsi<. kawo has been tested to great delight in clubs worldwide in the recent time and received some amazing floor-reactions

helado en globos is the main track for this release, this number has a bassline which is so funky and driving thats going to even make your grandma dance (expect bootlegs of this track with donna summer funzion ones). for the remix, we had no other than the pan-pot guys who kept the original flavour of the original one adding their special touches to the original recipe turning this track into a deep funky stormer. finally, we took one of funzions best works from the igloo back catalogue, his remix of qiks fall. the only reason we did this because its not just a filler, its killer. enjoy your >helado en globos<!
