2009 has been a great year for anthony ferrando & jean-patrick simonetti aka les petits pilous, with a lot of clubshows and cool festivals all around the world where the french youngsters performed their previous hits >wake up< >jolie fille< as well as their official remixes for justice or goose. their tracks have been played out by the biggest names in the scene from moby to justice, erol alkan and felix da housecat. today they return with a massive new ep including 4 new diverse tracks with influences from noisy techno to disco-house which will bomb dancefloors. welcome back boys!

the needle-drop fuzz that cues sam amidons fourth solo album of songs, i see the sign, raises the curtain on a world of little theatres, foretelling of an aural gut-grip that is fully human and wholly natural. amidons intuitive and often radical reworkings of age-old secular ballads, gospel, folk songs, and hymns render familiar characters new through his direction, vision, vocals, banjo, guitar, and stellar contributions from fellow musicians. stylus magazine raved that amidons sophomore solo album, but this chicken proved falsehearted, was >the most interesting folk album of 2007<. in 2008, bedroom community debuted his third album, all is well, which garnered mediaenthusiasm as a >a goose-bump-manufacturing sonic piece de resistance< (cmj new music monthly).

spirit catcher is becoming more and more a permanent member of the systematic family. after their debut e.p. last year and their contribution to the >5ysyst< project last summer, these three tracks are their latest productions on my systematic imprint. something which always impresses me a lot is how jean and tom continue todevelop their distinctive spirit catcher sound, no matter if they release on 20:20 vision, nrk, moodmusic or elsewhere. its always an awesome mixture of fluffy driving house beats, a portion of deepest darkness and freshhypnotic sounds figures! i love the way how they do install the dark organ melody at >sedona<. the organ soundspretty outta space and lets me float away once i have closed my eyes. also, the mystic mood at >future fools<generates me a goose skin, every time i hear it. voyeurrhythm crew returns with an splendin follow up on the ep1 (which was sold out on the day it came out!). and this one might even be better! hollywood nights has a dirty chi-town influenced house track with a phat bassline... think early days of frankie knuckles! megadon betamax did a cheeky cover version of one of our all-time favorite electronic disco tracks... changed into >he cant love you< (he completly reprogrammed and recorded the track!). and ben sun, suplier of the fantastic >when you looked< track on ep1 has another extremely solid track again called victoria park.. goose bumps all over from the first bar! another winner.

our jazzy multi instrumentalist, dewalta a.k.a. david koch, returns to vakant with another popping fresh release, as earnestly house as house can get. since his first vakant release in 2008 (va021 salgaro/farina) davids music has taken him around the world in black largely covering our earths northern and southern hemispheres. side a is graced by move yo sitting as close to late 1990s baby ford as one can get without a time machine and personal guide to londons underground. david somehow owns this genre while still making it distinctly his. b1 night shade keeps the housey goose bumps going with a drier and more direct approach. cheeky bleeps and chunky bass balance dark spacey vocals to land the track somewhere between night and day. >angels trumpet< at the b2 position closes this stellar ep out with a track that again borrows from the genre, but continues way beyond its standards with melodic elements that push and pull you in multiple directions resulting in no less than dance floor catharsis.

just in case someone might have forgotten: stil vor talent is based in berlin. and this ep by sascha braemer, one part of heinrich & hirtenfellner, proves just that. braemer, whos just been at the top of everybodys dj charts with his funk-laden minimal soul piece >mamba drums< on kindisch records, has donated three tracks to oliver koletzkis imprint that mirror what this city is best know for: funky minimal grooves. first up there is >ghost track< a typical dry minimal loop with a rhythmically in touch vocal sample that is then juxtaposed by a simply astonishing piece of melody. goose bumps and groove humps on the floor - guaranteed! on the flip: >girl<. here braemer has created a dubby piece of tech house that floats towards a soulful vocal and some beautiful strings. this is one for the early morning, or in berlin, the late afternoon, those times when everything seems in perfect harmony with each other. last up is >guitar man<, yet another very sample-based stripped down loop with one riff of an echoed guitar being the protagonist. when that riff is fully played out, we all know its summer. but it wouldnt be berlin if there werent some dark wobbly basslines seemingly destroying this but in fact creating the perfect combination of soft and hard, of light and dark. on top of this the vocal sample >i wont leave< perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the praised berlin afterhour. stil vor talent is back at home with this ep.

igor from antwerp went a little crazy with one of his favorite pieces of music... but what igor did is not just another cover or re-intrepetation... he did make a highly expolsive track based on stravinsky s classic sacre du printemps. ok we agree.. that sounds kind of corny and pretentious... but somehow this bloke managed to get it all right. sounds like a forgotten techno classic from suburban knight who was recording with laurent garnier in his good old days and had henrick schwarz as studio engineer... a classic take on techno with a break that will revive more than one igor. this is a euphoric hands in the air, goose bumps al over record that works at the right moment.

much to our advantage, layo & bushwacka! have been seeking solace deep in their west london studio since the closure of the end. this means only one thingàmasses of quality tracks coming your way from the duo and olmeto records over the coming months! the pairs latest twelve takes in two very different sides of their personality. the a side 21, supplies a deep slice of electronic funk complete with mesmerising pads, rising percussion patterns and the most beautifully addictive synth hook put to wax in ages if it doesnt give you goose pimples you need to get to the doctors! heavy weight sub bass kicks demand this be played as loud as you can possibly get it! go on, turn it up, annoy the neighbours on the b side, l&b take it back, waaaaay back, and toy around with some classic house music, creating a patchwork of off kilter, looped up madness to get the party masses hands high up in the air. overflowing with old school flavour, to make you quickly glance over your shoulder back to the 90s, whilst still sounding supremely relevant on todays dance floors.
