stepping up to quartz rec this time is exciting french talent okain.he delivers a mighty ep, with three kick ass techno cuts for your pleasure! title track blackrock marches straight from the off, with snares and hand claps combining to great effect. okains talent for droppingpercussive efx and sounds in his tracks is once again apparent. creating and expanding an atmosphere throughout with his swirling efx, tom toms and flute... he actually takes you in to the rain forest... to the blackrock!ghost city the name fits the track to perfection. the opening drums evoking pictures of a deserted town. those haunting synth stabs, andatmospherics swirling around you. then the vocals appear out of the darkness, with the spooky, trippy synth. nocturnal, driving music....where is monday takes us on a tough, housier journey. delicate toms open the show, and the pace increases as the robust, funk filled bass linedrops in. layer upon layer is woven by okain. brilliant, and cheeky vocal drops, and efx come at us throughout the track, as it keeps up itsintense pace and groove. awesome stuff.this is heavy. handle with care!!

support by: adam beyer, speedy j, emerson, brian sanhaji, joel mull, perc, steve rachmad, the advent, paco osuna.... true type tracks starts here with two artists that have created a very distinctive sound both together and solo, and represent a way of understanding techno music in which we firmly believe. our dynamic duo meets again to continue what they started on the ad ltd imprint. two tracks that define their own sounds and as the two artists behind them fit so well together they have to be in the same plastic. as a is for alexi, time out fills this side with powerful, dirty, jackin driving techno. alexi delivers a track were the classic flavour of techno is completely infected by his characteristic twisted futuristic sequences. the track grows full of tension and it s a sure killer. it s funk, it s dark, it s strong. on side b, xpansul signs a playful techno track full of swing and funk, hip techno a la xpansul. jackin beats and dubby bass support several freaking melodies that build this trip to dancefloor madness. we love techno!

lithuanian producer paulius lincius (aka moon disco) presents his first vinyl release on the respected control tower label, run by the dexorcist & radioactive man, and shows a subtlety and deftness of touch that many more experienced producers would envy. treading the path of classic electro can be a dangerous game if the sounds arent just so, but fortunately paulius has been doing his homework and keeps it simple and clean. radioactive man offers up a remix that roughens things up a little bit and throws some datasette-esque sounds into the equation, but still keeps pretty close to the traditional electro blueprint. overall a strong release for those that prefer their beats and bass with a slightly nostalgic edge...

THE JOURNEY / IN YO SOUL (10 INCH)
10 Inch
12.05.09
10inch !!!! this is something special. 10 years after its very limited release (simply due to a low budget and limited sales expectations, not to try and make the record scarce), norm talleys the journey is picked up by a a few hip berlin djs, and a fire starts with the record being offered on ebay for over €100.00, because nobody can find a copy. even norm had to borrow a copy when he went to dj in berlin and the berlin party crowd had already asked him to confirm if he was bringing the record..no joke. so here is that tune, the journey, now re-mastered by stefan betke and cut by andreas@schnittstelle, and sounding very nice. on the flip is the unreleased in yo soul, chosen by third ear to complement the journey and complete a full on in your face piece of norm talley groove. and to round it off, its on a 10. cool and compact. just like norm, who is known in the dj circles of detroit as a secret weapon.. need your party fixing?... call norm talley. serge at clone kindly added a few words... nice re-issue of an obscure dj favorite produced by norm talley and previously released on the nouveau riche label from detroit. here you have two tracks that turn out to be great dj tracks when played out loud. the journey somehow got lost in obscurity. but luckily someone was clever enough to get it back out again, together with the previously unreleased in yo soul, and here they are... 10 inches of pleasure! pure detroit house music as we like it

mossa shows up with his third release on mos ferry prod. and he demonstrates again that his productions shouldnt be missing in any record case. the title and a1 track ransack holds some solid subs, a nice and kinky drum kit including a petit but also significant drive. right next to it comes the ransack remix by andomat 3000 that pushes the whole theme more towards a swinging and rocking house tune. on the flip dark love reveals - as the name implies - a dark & noisy track topped with a sonorous vocal that shouldnt be ignored. with toms and hats from the music electronics supply store b2 make the noise is an excellent example for controlled rhythm & sound that puts a perfect finishing touch to this release. we love to say: make the noise, please make the noise!

GHOSTS HAVE A HEAVEN
12 Inch
05.05.09
after the inclusion of crushed by actress on the most recent prime numbers ep, we return with three tracks from one of our favourite contemporary producers. ghosts have a heaven is a heavily stripped down, minimally constructed piece built on a heavyweight kick drum whilst given movement and accentuated by filtered synth washes and sub bass which change subtly throughout the track. side 2 is taken by two tracks from the actress debut full length release on his own werk discs. hazyville is a twisted piece of electro funk expertly compressed and crackling with static energy. superb locking & popping lace the track sounding something like the avant gardism of subway theme from the wild style o.s.t pushed confidently into 2009. ext up redit 124 provides a deep clipped jackin groove with a glitchy feel. the beats are worked & moulded along with fizzing synths and jerky keys to produce a quality hybrid of sounds with its own idiosyncratic style firmly in place.
MY OLD SCHOOL
12 Inch
05.05.09
john talabot is a youngster from barcelona with a rather special way of approaching music. borrowing his schools name for his alias and the most diverse samples for his music, he produces expansive and iconoclastic housey tracks. his influences range from flamenco to northern soul, from african music to traditional asian songs and he s inspiration sources go from the profound and sensual house of moodyman and labels such as sound signature or kdj to disco music, chicago house, pop or techno, whatever he likes. sounds like a bass kick and a sampler, he says us in his myspace, no less. this young producer and tireless musical tracker has the ability not just to find the appropriate samples but also to conjugate them wisely. in a great exercise of sonic inventiveness, guitars, strings and keyboards are combined in his tracks with rhythms and vocals with african reminiscences, to give us his own vision of house music, original and personal, but yet very effective. cliche allergic, songs like naomi, korlee or afrika sound cosmic and tremendously emotional without losing sight of the dance floor (thats what we call fat beats). his tracks are organic, human, full of life, the kind of music that keeps not only your foot moving but also your heart tingling.

mxm (short for maxim) is a fresh talent from the uk. he released music on hydrogen dukebox, combination records and snap shot. he also got future projects with linkwood (firecracker, prime numbers) coming soon. on philpot he delivers two versions of the chord driven move me track feat. jemima! a great, deep vocal anthem for the earlier hours of your set. on the flip, the first track the untitled deep is an absolute stunning electro track in the truest form of its meaning. like an update of early cybotron with a bassline that kills and keys to put a smile on your face! the last track called jazz seducer chops some nice piano chords over a funk laden beat, simple and plain...great!
after recently releasing astonishing records on vakant & kalk pets, dewalta is hitting now even more dynamic and powerful the springtime floors. back on his motherlabel with great & unusual music and we dare to say that it is our favorite release of him so farà >saluki< starts straight with a crafty bass driven smooth rocket and build its self up alongside a guiding piano loop to reach very atmospheric frictions. soft choir singing here and there, various dub sounds brushing in the space, bringing all sound aficionados into a beautiful ride. dewaltas crispy rhythms are eventually fading out into melancholic and moving detroitish strings, to complete this unique piece of music. >shagya< on the flipside is a self-developing carnevalesque odyssey. its such a profound & delicious kickdrum, tightened with an extraordinary bass presence, its simply irresistible not to groove happily on that one. all is enriched with polyphonic balafon rhythms and hilarious african rooted chants - this is the energetic tool for those special intimate moments. a perfect track when lust and familiarity is present within the crowd and we consider time as officially end.
