when we released aardvarcks nosestep as part of his well well well ep in the summer of 2007 it cause quite a stir in the then formative dubstep scene, almost anybody played that track. now we re-release it with a new version by cosmin trg, who transformed it into a strong acidic stepper, 2010 style. on the b-side we find an unreleased nubian mindz remix from aardvarcks spoken release from 2001. we didnt release it at the time, but with the whole new future house movement coming strong, the timing couldnt be more perfect

dekmantel anthem is created late night after a legendary night at one of the dekmantel parties in amsterdam. as a homage to deep late night sets its called dekmantel anthem… easy does it. a deep late night groove, but with enough swing to last until way after the party is over...

rush hour kicks of its direct current series with nyc based falty dl. this series is about today’s electronic music in all shapes by new and upcoming producers. falty dl is known for his releases on planet mu and ramp. his sounds shifts somewhere between hip hop, funk, dubstep, house and techno. its this cross breeding that gives falty dl his signature sound. with >all in the place< he delivers one of his best releases to date. four tracks that sound classic, yet futuristic at the same time. essential ep!

the voyage continues. after dropping his debut album voyage direct, tom trago now drops two favorites from his live set. side a is an extended disco version of use me, morphing in to and out of the original like butter. clocking over 8 minutes use me again becomes somewhat a modern take on the original disco version. its got enough drive to make a dance floor go crazy. side b meanwhile is an exclusive from his live set. here he strips the classic >over & over< to the minimum before sliding into the original groove only for a moment, only to continue to ride the rhythm again. proper club business

direct is stripped back, raw house tracks. bleepy yet with plenty of deepness, its refreshing to see a producer out there not following suit, but producing an individual sound. the direct remix comes in classic alvarado style, heavy tribal beats, dubby reverberations, trippy deepness, and dense and engaging production. his remix is already picking up support from the likes of dixon, rocky (x-press 2), paul woolford and jay tripwire.

detroit, 1993. the burden brothers, known for their octave one project and 430west record label, start a new sub label called direct beat. it was created to release the techno electro sounds of inner city detroit. in 1995 the label was in full effect and released music produced by friends such as tommy hamilton, keith tucker, mad mike banks, will web and them self.
now 15 years later we know that direct beat was one of the big influences on how electro and techno is today. together with underground resistance, axis, m-plant in detroit and some like minded people in europe and artists such as drexciya, aphex twin, autechre and dopplereffekt it changed the way people looked at techno... it broke away from the dominant 4/4 kick and brought back the funk and emotion that disappeared once house and techno became popular and mainstream music in the early 90s.
we are happy to bring back direct beat records by making some of its classics available for a new generation. this is a part of techno music history we may not forget about! especially in these days that people consume more and more of the format tracks. this shows that emotion, passion and energy creates much more then just a dj tool... it creates tracks that become part of peoples life! and not for just one or two months in your i-pod... but for the rest of your life in your record collection! timeless classic collection... must have!
