we�re glad to welcome back aun to cyclic law for their latest opus! aun�s music as always suggested forays into other dimensions, be it to imaginary worlds, industrial wastelands, through space and time, or via mind altered states. from the ominous dystopian artwork, of a city being drained of its energy by some mysterious black hole, to the first notes of the title track �fiat lux� we are once again transported on aun�s otherworldly travelling path. ever since the space industrial and power electronics of aun�s previous cyclic law cult release �black pyramid�, the world has become even more sinister, but in contrast, �fiat lux� exudes even more of aun�s melancholic hopefulness. the disintegrating chords and densely textured waves, anchored by a left field industrial pulse, invoke occult drug enhanced, future psychedelia. created in part in their montreal studio, these tracks were extensively performed live, prior to recording, and refined while on tour breaks in montpellier, barcelona and tokyo. the energy of these cities is definitely at work in these recordings, which also features a french connection of experimental heavy hitters: witxes, frédéric d. oberland and philippe petit have helped round out dumais and leblanc� arsenal. fiat lux: let there be light, from light will come darkness.

berlin-based duo ontheground which consists of myztical and diagenetic origin, is about to release �role of the observer�, their follow-up to last year�s debut ep �touching higher ground�. this record is a snapshot of their creative development and hard work which took them at least a year to put together.
the a side takes up where the last year�s ep left off, establishing a template of industrial pummeling techno with a focus on irresistible, broken groove. a1 �the power of prayer� is a powerful banger - droning synths and dislocated samples build up the anticipation, before massive kicks drop and propel the tension onwards. a2 �controlled by faith� is similarly destructive on the dancefloor, a bundle of rasping, dirty rattles that drive on relentlessly in funky delirium.
the b side delves into the darker, more elusive recesses of the duo�s creativity. on b1 �ancient cycles�, distorted rumbles morph over pattering, primordial percussive patterns. b2 �role of the observer� ratchets out a heady mesh of fragmented, disorientating textures over frantic, propulsive beats.

i-lp-o in dub is the solo project of pan sonic member ilpo väisänen. capital dub chapter 1 follows the 2015 debut communist dub - a year marked by further descent into economic crisis and instability. the usual business cycles of production / distribution / consumption running alongside macro cycles of boom and bust have been replaced by ossification, austerity, the machine seizing up.
ilpo�s �circular riddims� complement the ebb and flow of the circulation of money + commodities and are mirrored by his field recordings of barcelona rain � the final phase of the cyclical movement of water. but of course the smooth running of �paradise capital� is unsustainable. destroyed techno and open spaces contend with sinister swarming atmospheres. a cash machine flickers. zeros and ones displace another factory. dub as decay � the ghostly remains of tracks eroded by time and technology. the �invisible hand� of the market spasms with tremors.
ferocious textural feedback as music for stock exchange crashes. the soundtrack to heaps of money hoarded by the hidden class. capital is value in motion, but there is nowhere to go. after the collapse, picturesque ruins. capital dub chapter 1 simply asks the question: what next?

american experimental musican shane english continues in a long tradition of outsider electronics as hes been humbly prolific in his output though the years involving himself in numerous recording projects.collaborating with jonah lange in their group corporate park as well as an ongoing collab with beau wanzer (seeing a release last year under the cp/bw name), english now commits his second full length solo offering to vinyl in the form of the general dimensions lp. sparse machine driven electronics dominate the recording providing a back drop for the occasional pulsating rhythm, metallic clank or floating obscured vocal. while it is a dark and sparse affair there is a quiet downtrodden beauty throughout giving the recording a sense of uncertain serenity in an almost shoegazey way. highly recommended for those into early electronics.

at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.
