following a string of well-received eps on cin cin, exit strategy and get physical, belfast’s lor readies his debut, self-titled album ‘lunar orbit rendezvous’. this will mark the first release on his newly minted label lorec. a technique used in apollo lunar missions, lunar orbit rendezvous charts a journey to the moon and back. a bold album, both in concept and sound, its the work of an artist coming into his own.the title track and first single lunar orbit rendezvous prepares the album for lift off. its a track that carries the technical tension of crucial operations, with gnarly acid pulses and happily erratic synths sparring over a steadfast electro beat while vocal samples collapse into themselves. lunar orbit rendezvous comes accompanied by a video from studio creme whose design and video work has been championed by the likes of james holden, warp and simian mobile disco. using a hyper detailed black and white render of a nasa grade rocket, the video brings the optical journey of lunar orbit rendezvous to life

variable is the first compilation on pi electronics, which also kicks off the new catalogue peva. this various artists release includes the works of several artists involved in the label till now, along with some very familiar faces to pi that have been supporting the parties in the past years. the aim was to bring the main label roster - artists with original music on pi, such as jk flesh, ontal and damcase - under the same roof as artists that have been with the pi electronics project since its early days: the label s party residents, 3.14, nemmett and das along with other fellow athenians, unhuman, bmsk and the project “i am legion, for we are many”. the outcome will be available in cd, vinyl and digital format, while the vinyl sampler will feature jk flesh, ontal, nemmett and bmsk.

hmot aka stas sharifullin is siberian-born, moscow-based musician, curator, educator and multi-disciplinary artist from siberia. using modular synthesizer, field recordings and visual programming languages, hmot collects sounds and organizes them into structures, pushing traditional electronic music genres beyond their comfort zones. “permanent imbalance” is his ep debut on the berlin imprint oqko following a single contribution to the label’s “form_1” compilation. structurally, “permanent imbalance” is disorderly and elusive, it’s a techno record which has undergone a gregor samsaesque metamorphosis. embedded with dizzying polyrhythmics, the discontinuity at the heart of the record might also be its central directive – interrupting the ecstatic clubbing experience in favor of a contradictory reality which is impossible to describe with regular rhythms. boldly submitted to the niche of dance music deviations, “permanent imbalance” also reveals techniques directly derived from early institutional electronics and musique concrete. but where others would pile on the layers, sharifullin keeps it trim. these are just some finishing touches enhancing his rickety and multifaceted soundscapes. subject to constant deviations of its own temporality, this music proves to mirror the crisis in which modernity resides – a state of life out of balance which now appears to be permanent as never before.

straight out of underground paris and right onto pinkman s broken dreams arrives myn. the public systems label boss follows up a debut track on his own label with a poem about gloom, desolation and anger written in native machine language for the rotterdam imprint. the a stanza describes a mental outburst with punchy lines written in raw percussion and disconcerting 303 work. following a line break, the b stanza changes the meter from 4/4 to pummelling broken beat in a piece about power and dominance titled black rose . the violent poetry concludes with yet more deathly rhythms and spine-chilling verses in core collapse .
