this brand new and long awaited follow up 12-inch single release by off the record is finally here! its been quite a while since their first release >robot gang ep< (sen-003) came out and took the dancefloors by storm. all the wait has been well worth though, as this talented duo is back on track with their trademark rough & raw drum sounds, killer breaks and bridges. such elements can be found directly from the starting track >tel aviv � japan<, which combines nicely minimalist techno / house sound architexture with simple, yet effective groove, and it grows humble and slowly to reach up its peak moment what goes like: splash! in ya face! there you have it! guaranteed to lighten up any dancefloors, it s dangerously explosive and has amazing flavour on the rocks! having said that, on demand producer and remixer ran shani (crosstown rebels, breastfed, cr2 records) was kind enough to contribute his absolutely fabulous and fantastic remix work of >in your mind< track. he pushed the track to the next level and came up with a truly club oriented pulsating dance track with extra crispy and tasty beats. rotating 360 degrees panorama effect on female vocals coming in as the track rolls further right after the break is surely enough to explode some minds on the dancefloors. watch this man out! perfect end to an extended play here is the only track offering a mini lovestory: >shes lost her mind> is a true and cold hearted, crucial story about a tech savvy clubgirl falling in love in a binary world full of zeros and ones, finding computers and turin machines sexually more attractive companions to better have fun with rather than getting accustomed to that old fashioned missionary position carried out by her human boyfriend. floating, dubby and rather melancholic, but definitely not a sad song! but one thing is for sure regarding that twisted story after all: someone has truly lost her mind somewhere along the way �

a fresh addition to the moodmusic roster but a longtime veteran in the house-scene, alexander maier aka dj all*star from stuttgart is well known from his earlier releases on buzzin fly, exun and criminal records. he began his career playing underground techno in south of germany but over the years became more and more influenced by detroit and chicago house. you can hear these influences on sahara in both the rain and river version. deep and reduced grooves with enough soul and atmosphere, yet fully functional for the floor, sahara rain kicks in with a heavy bass sequence building a perfect platform to be followed by the synththeme which hit s the peak hour perfectly. i see some hands going up here already� sahara river starts more housey, building a classy, low-slung huge groove with perculating synths and almost tribal feel to the drums. the modulating synths lifts the track to new heights with a break of superbly layered twisted pads before the drums kick back in in full effect. as this would not be enough we asked our thrusted chicago connection and alexs buddy, mazi aka audio soul project to remix sahara rain. if you consider people who s been in the biz for some time mazi is one of the warriors of the sound, never choosing the easy way but thrustfully following his true way of house music. and house it is, classic but cleverly updated to 2008 with a twist of so-cal thrown in for good measure. bouncey and jacking is the words which comes into mind when hearing this, excellent work and a another bomb for the hot months to come

once again, tuningspork records ventures away from its trademark funky house in exchange for something a little more unexpected. last summer, the label issued >free your mind< (tsextra), a baleraric groove crafted by jay haze and ricardo villalobos. now comes another non-sequitur: >comptine d un autre été: l après-midi< (tsultra), mr. tiersens piano composition reconstructed for the dancefloor by jay. french composer yann tiersen has a minimalist approach that many electronic producers could learn from. his piece (the title of which roughly means >nursery rhyme of another summer: the afternoon<) provides the basis for this melancholy track. djs addicted to hyperbolic effects plugins might hesitate to play this - but those who appreciate subtlety will be rewarded here. tiersens original composition is tastefully manipulated into a track that makes sense in a club context, yet sets itself apart from the usual techno/house fare, providing a rare introspective moment on the dancefloor. and it might be worth mentioning: if you play this track and the floor doesnt fill up with ladies, then it probably means youre djing at a gay club. (not that theres anything wrong with that!)

!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! (richie hawtin on voices of the dead) record release event at berghain / panorama bar berlin on september 4th, 2008, feat. ricardo villalobos, mika vainio (pan sonic) and ulrich schnauss (tbc).
