every so often a new artist on the dumb unit roster steps up and bats one out of the park. case in point, our man from essen : tim querengaesser: aka pherox. the panthers walk ep is an expressive and bombastic ode to a night that goes boom! sultry lyrics voiced by tim himself and guest lee curtiss sit firmly over top of tims excellant and chugging under groove. the panthers walk is an exciting slab of music for any dj and one that will certainly bring pherox and his brand of funk into a more deserving light.

panthers used to play aggressive post hardcore before their style morphed into a somewhat sober version of anthemic stoner rock. they released albums on both troubleman and vice records. goblin city is the lead track from their second record, the trick. holy ghost! requested to work on goblin city. they then delivered one of the most relentlessly snappy disco dubs in quite some time. panthers also asked run roc to do a mix of the song and he came up with an excellent old school acid house version. this single is a true dfa family affair, bringing together good friends, musicians, and creative allies from the past and for the future. family reunions are not supposed to be this much fun.

mixed and co-produced by james murphy at dfa studios in brooklyn, this release from former orchid and panthers singer jayson green marks the return of the classic dfa 12”. the a-side is a tight, rollicking party jam with maximum konk and loose joints vibes, while the b-side is a true trip to the unknown.
