london based artist ben vince is best known for his minimal & transcendent saxophone soundscapes. with assimilation we find ben treading new ground with his recorded output, moving away from the limitations of solo saxophone, instead embracing collaboration and communication to forge new paths. whilst vince�s sax work still undeniably holds �assimilation� together, the new territories explored by working with an artistically diverse range of collaborators allows new life and influence to flow through ben�s work. the album features collaborations with micachu (mica levi), rupert clervaux, merlin nova, valentina magaletti, and cam deas. ben vince has also recently collaborated on a 12inch with joy o (forthcoming on hessle audio).

hessle audio is proud to present the first collaborations between longtime friend joy o and saxophonist ben vince. introduced to each other by jon rust, the two tracks are a result of studio sessions together as well as manipulation of bens existing recordings. both tracks explore the tonal, textural and rhythmic possibilities of bens playing within a focused dancefloor framework. ben vince will be releasing a solo lp with where to now? in late may, featuring collaborations with micachu and percussionist rupert clervaux.

a return to vr from ben sun, who delves into deeper territory on the original cut, emotive analogue synths washing over a roland drum groove and a swirling female vocal, all underpinned by a warm, rumbling bassline. the flipside features some heavyweight remix work from the prolific deep space orchestra (use of weapons, art, delusions of grandeur) and label mate tyson ballard teaming up with vincenzo (poker flat, dessous). vincenzo and ballards mix is a heavy hitting, moody take on the original, with subtle, dark strings and a growling, evolving bassline, while dso round off the release with trademark fat drums and soaring melodic synth work.
