kyle geiger returns on his home label with a set of tracks designed to recapture the basic function of techno. it s music to sweat to at a party. additionally, this package aims to capture a sense of timelessness through melody interwoven with a pumping breed of techno rhythms. the title track, homecoming, starts with a bottom-heavy percussive workout, then presses forward with an array of slowly filtering brighter synth stabs. the breakdown sees an arpeggiated synth slowly overtake the rhythm of the track just long enough to build tension and bring things back to full speed. the verge is a very stripped back, drum track style cruiser, which builds tension with a rising distorted pulse sound filtering in and out. just as it seems that the back half of the track will carry on as planned, a running melody comes in and changes the direction of the entire track. the verge (beat tool) is identical to the original, but build for those a little shy about slightly more upfront melodies.

following last years meditative mirage ep and the stunning * beat 13* on lovers rock no. 6, earthen sea returns to lr with his debut lp ink. his heaviest and most ambitious work to date, ink is a work of hypnotic, monastic beauty. over the last ten years, earthen sea, aka jacob long, has been developing a sound world all his own, built on a foundation of vaporous grey-black drones and pulsing kick drums. an impressionistic dream-scape of american life, ink journeys between the eerily vacant “entrance” to the feverish “stateless” and the shimmering perfection of “all men know the truth.” swaths of violent, glacial noise collide with lost voices transmitted through the ether, framed between moments of transcendent clarity. following an extended three song suite, closing track * blues in black ink* rides a gently falling piano melody into a finale that is as infused with political rage as it is with private melancholy. with ink, earthen sea arrives fully formed, an artist in utter command of his craft.

welcoming the fourth vinyl only instalment from farfromnormal features an excellent 3 track ep from the up and coming julian. after a long process julian has come up with 3 great original tracks which farfromnormal where happily to take on board and put together julian s very first vinyl release. this record grabs your attention from the start with track 1 resorave. resorave is a very psychedelic track with dark drums and beautiful slow atmospheres and a tripping vocal. track 2 grunge is much more on the groovy side to with fantastic production and pads that take you on a great journey. track 3 chorale is the title track and the one track to leave you on a high, with the heavy kicks and bass lines mixing between a tripping vocal and beautifully placed instruments, this is perfect for the peak hours.

dub-ito is a new label born from the long time friendship of the southern italian duo claudio mate and francesco mazocco (defrag). the funny name of the label is a mix coming from playing with a few words from different languages while talking about music, giving a unique outcome. straight uncompromised beats meet proper dub-techno landscapes, with a special deeper remix version by fabrizio lapiana.

keeping the momentum going seems fairly easy for barac as he unveils the long awaited second ep on his moment imprint. last years have seen barac evolve in a very lucrative way, yet only his best productions seem to be making their way top. it is clearly the case for this second ep which features two of his solo masterpieces. moment of clarity is electronic poetry at its best. barac delivers the proverbial summer sunrise directly into your speakers and ultimately into your heart. this track is meant to never be forgotten. without changing the soundscape too much barac has a slightly different approach on side b. things get a little more serious with sun & following being driven by a catchy bass and a haunting atmosphere. this tune is as bomb in the night as the other one is in the daylight.

2015 repress. its been four years since my last own ep on stockholm ltd. the main reason for this is that i have been surrounded by music that has inspired me much more than my own. this ep was written and produced with strict narrow frames and a huge amount of frustration. i was tired of waiting for the inspiration to kick in, then suddenly it appeared with a strength that i havent felt for long time. im now curious for more. while sketching the title track, >wyatt arp<, i couldnt get detroit legend, terrence dixon, out of my mind. terrence is a long time hero of mine, and an artist that always stays on the true side of what we do while most of us occasionally leave our paths. i had to ask him to do a rework. / par grindvik

the dance is the result of a long lasting musical love affair between kontra-musik s ulf eriksson and sebastian mullaert (aka minilogue). as most love affairs, it started off as an exciting experiment: ulf would play records and sebastian would bring out his music gear and play a live set. as they were touring with this live concept, their sounds started to really integrate, and after one especially fine night at trouw, amsterdam, ulf and sebastian decided it was time to conceive the dance. once the decision was taken, everything else came naturally. the dance was to be recorded live, in one take, at kontra-musik s home field inkonst, malmo, sweden.

slouch music concentrates on dance music delivered below 120 bpm, giving space to the sounds and allowing the music to breath. created and produced by an unknown london duo, the label encompasses everything from house and techno, to balearic and new wave - just as long as its slow!
