we are really happy to finally announce the release of the 7th record as the next in the series of full eps. dustins debut record comes as a result of nearly two years work between artist and label to get the perfect tracks for this full release and we feel it has been well worth the wait.
each record comes with an exclusive 24 inch square poster of the artwork for the release, designed by hani abusamra, which forms the second in the series of collectable nixwax posters that now accompany each nixwax ep.
the lead track was first tested out in the boiler room by nixwax boss, rob amboule and received a fantastic reception, with online fans and audience alike lusting after that growling bassline.
full support comes from some of the leading names in deep underground house at the moment, including rossko fuse, casino times and many more, as well as all the nixwax artists and ojsmooths mum. we have every confidence in this record and look forward to seeing it get the reception it deserves.

the third in the inertia series with four new exclusive techno tracks. this third ep offers up four brand next and exclusive techno cuts, take straight from the inertia compilation ann aimee have proudly compiled. things open with the dark, skipping beats of stroboscopic artefacts boss lucy, before veteran berlin producer and label boss milton bradley layers plenty of filter and reverb over a kicking beat for his textured effort, >sequence 1<. one of the three fachwerk bosses, mike dehnert, contributes some ravey techno loops in the form of >pneumatic< before the ep is brought to a close with some gray-scale bleakness from belgiums ozka: in all, four dark dancefloor gems

after a handful of smashing remixes and compilation features on nang records, lusty zanzibar returns to the fold with a cracking solo effort named the >the feeling ep.< title track is a spaced out exercise in immersive square-wave programming, reminiscent of the pre-internet computer gaming age when colours were 8-bit and vivid, and soundtracks were hyper-colour opuses. the complex synth work is underpinned by a driving beat with ethereal vocal wisps and crystalline pads. nice. the first of three remixes for >the feeling< comes from ilya santana, with his >celestial version<, and celestial it is indeed! a picturesque scene is set, the rhythm is wound back and a super laid back vibe allows the vocal line >remember how you are feeling< to sit more purposefully in the mix, alongside the tip-toeing bass line and often euphoric chords. up next comes the max essa dub version, introducing some arp-synth subtleties, replacing the main vocal hook to great effect. to finish we have a mix from fear of theydon who brings a touch of arpeggiated femininity and tasteful woodblock percussion to the table. its a fulfilling yet sultry up-beat journey.

chicagos ricardo miranda makes his debut for the ace stilove4music label, maintaining a fine year in which he has already dropped some serious heat on rush hour sub-label hour house is your rush and his own noble square imprint. title track >102point7< is all jagged synths, throbbing arpeggios, slashing claps and a rolling acid groove, marking it out as one of his most incendiary productions to date. on the flip >rotary cells< is deeper still, a 909-led jacker with undulating layers of sub bass augmented by a wonderfully woozy vocal which extols the virtues of true chicago house. this is followed by >greenline<, a stripped back jam with scuttling hats and the kind of paranoid synth melody that wouldnt sound out of place in jeff mills something in the sky series. this is dark, raw, pulsating dance music - highly recommended.

the first release on sighas own our circula sound imprint sees the hotflush artist shrug off the dubstep tag altogether with a 12 inch of dark dubbed out techno. marcel dettmanns remix of sighas own >early morning lights< sits on the a side. taking things deeper than one would typically expect, dettmann marries his own sound palette with that of the original perfectly. clocking in around the 130bpm mark, its mutating broken rhythms and throbbing bottom end will appeal to more adventurous dubstep heads as well as the techno purists. sighas eyes down old school tinged >over the edge< sits on the b side. clicks, claps and 909 hats roll over a layer of shifting dubbed out soundscapes and booming square bass.

talented portugese duo johnwaynes have had a fruitful career so far with releases on labels like brique rouge and compost. now they appear on serenades, with this trippy and inspired vocal house track >never enough<. featuring the soulful vocal talents of stee downes, the irish amsterdam-based singer whose smooth tones can also be found on sonar kollektiv, the team have cooked up a real hit in the making with >never enough<. combining deep, sexy house vibes with an insistent, catchy vocal and expertly produced elements the track comes in two distinct versions. the original keeps things low down and dirty, wrapping up the story in a cool 8 minute version. melodious pianos and deep square bass come together in a glorious moment of underground pop house. the raw mix however pushes the story further with a more ravey vibe and extended tripped-out moments, yet keeps it deep and soulful with warm rhodes keys and plenty of atmosphere!

in the south of panama lies the darien gap, a vast unpenatrable jungle swamp that divides central and south america. it is so hostile that even the pan american highway stops there in what would otherwise be a non-stop highway stretching from alaska to argentina. many explorers never returned and it is believed that the 10.000 square mile piece of green hell is home to secret guerilla bases, drug labs and many mysterious & dangerous animals.

popping up on labels like 8bit, supernature and tsuba, releasing quality tech-house and club-assured cuts since 2008, we are delighted to welcome german producer alex niggemann to poker flat. this new ep raises niggemanns game with three tracks taking in heavy acid bass, chicago-house vibes and inventive, smooth flowing arrangements. >lately< is a real stomper in the classic poker flat tradition. haunting, acidic, modern, club guaranteed! niggemann twists a spooky and funky synth line around a heavy old-school house vibe, complete with a thoughtful smokey-voiced naration. >madness< lifts the tension higher with a sub-heavy chigaco bass attack, 2011 style. alex has fused the best of both old and new and found a new sound that leaves behind rigid sound in favour of more funky, warmer and totally fresh vibes! the ep concludes with >smash your face<, a groovy houser that rolls wonderfully with more growling square wave bass and plenty of details to keep the flow nothing short of riveting!

the process of receiving and listening to demos is akin to the proverbial needle in a haystack - poorly labeled cd’s or mp3’s are handed out indiscriminately like flyers for strip clubs in times square (circa 1970). “i really think you are going to like this,” or “all nude girls,” and “dj ‘x’ played this at space,” or “24 hours live sex show…!!” but in the end, just like the harsh reality of a stripper in daylight, the demos fall well short of anything mildly interesting and certainly nothing you would bring home to mom… until madato… from the first group of tracks he sent it was clear that a nice guy from naples had sent us the needle we had been looking for. “naples may not be a place one would consider to be particularly inspiring, from its outside appearance, chaos, and plenty of junk on the streets - it takes a deeper gaze, beyond, and into madato’s dream world. madato is always looking at what’s beyond the waste. inside his dream box you might find laura palmer making out with ian curtis, charles bukowski writing a fairy tale, or perhaps john nash singing along to bauhaus songs…” file under: trippy disco inspired dance music, not defined by a genre but more of an attitude. post-punk undertones mixed with psychedelic sensibility

whats my name, the latest single from the bajan songstress rihanna, is not a cover of the clashs 1977 punk classic, but finds riri taking a detour from the dancefloor-scorching grooves of only girl to craft a steamier cut which draws its heat from her short-lived, but much-buzzed-about relationship with the t-dot heavyweight. here, the upbeat synth boardwork of stargate sets the stage for a heaping helping of innuendo from both collaborators, drizzy handles verse one, sing-rapping his way through a double-entendre-peppered opener (the square root of 69 is (eight/ate) something… right? cause i been tryin to work it out.), and rihanna responds in kind, lacing her verses and chorus with some playful come-ons of her own. digging this catchy ode to young love/lust? then be sure to grab a copy of this vinyl and the heavy remixes it has.
