for our second 12 release on tobus limited x, we welcome kolombo who joined with sammy w & alex e to make strider, a full and complete ep featuring three tracks with remixes from ics, chemical surf and vintage culture. so here it comes!

our latest release mila, its not over comes from the mysterious ponty mython (alex). with roots in st. petersburg, he now sends us his latest intricately produced works from his studio in vilnius, lithuania. alex joined the dirt crew family last year, adding his excellent artist name and ear for exotic samples to our ‘deep love 10 compilation with his track ‘movin on. first up on this new release is ‘face down, a cross-continental collaboration with tijuana based tastemaker sebastien vorhaus.

white asega co-­owner jack dixon wrote new curtains after a friend who was coming wildly off the rails told him he was a good producer but his tunes were boring. the original version was really sparse and about 300bpm. when jack moved to new york the parts got lost, so he remade the track a dozen times. this was the version we all liked best, although jack never wants to hear it again in his life. it sounds tough and tropical. our friend troy gunner remixed it, and turned it into something so loud and slamming it will knock your teeth out. after telling jack to stop making boring music, mark kodiak spent two horrendous years working with jamie kodiak on a song they ve called taargus. it nearly destroyed their friendship forever but we think it was worth it. it has brutal weapon sounds, nasty snares and an incessant “yo” that has been described as “annoying and unnecessary”. the artist tom pounder has created a blinding video for it that contains brand new colours. french born bass genius bambounou stepped up to remix the track, taming the wild stems into a hypnotic early­morning house stepper. it took us approximately 2000 exhausting facebook group chats, four cross­atlantic flights and one divorce to get to this point. we hope you will enjoy this record for the rest of your lives. rip ken tulley.

after the immersive techno pulse of qindeks effe 12inch, wavereform is thrilled to present the return of rising lativan talent juras lietus to our label for our fifth release. his debut single des-m marked our second release in 2014, and while the artist remains something of a mystery outside of his home city of riga, his productions sport the kind of well-travelled tones that transcend geographical location to deliver an infectious message. the single kicks off with metallic thump of >steiga<, which leaps out from the very start with an addictive chord line and a well-rounded kick. juras lietus handles the progression of his track with poise, feeding in a rich tapestry of percussive elements and teasing the filter on that distinctive synth to give the track a fluid, psychedelic flavour. balancing these elements out is a warm, undulating bassline that injects a joyous energy into the track, while the soul-stirring speech sample should be familiar to any socially conscious dancer. its a production that satisfies the needs of a party-hungry dancefloor while equally delivering the internal reflection that comes with all great dub techno.

our afro-latin warrior jose marquez is back once again on basic fingers with two new percussion infected workouts. those familiar with jose marquez s previous works will not be disappointed as this might be his strongest release yet. on quinto y bongo he goes on dark tribal journey with hints of electronic layers and some serious bongo action. the flip track canto del caribe is more direct & to the point with a full on percussion assault and fierce latin chants. a proper floor filler!

incl download code , since a few years mrz is steadily shaping his dancefloor sensitivity on zürich s underground and sophisticated parties. its not a suprise you can whitness mrz s flow on his new productions becoming more natural as it does when he performs live. these three tracks plus instrumental are only a pick of many great new tracks, so we hope you are going to like our selection: title track konterversum is just as you d be sneaking in a stairway and catching a couple - to our surprise - having a dispute while the party booms behind the door. subversly charming. multiversum does somehow picture how it feels trying to quit a conversation at phone - while riding an edgy but flowing groove. circaversum is basically held in swiss german dialect and we let you guess what they are talking about. we insisted on an instrumental version of the track for those not so much inclined into three-guys-jacking-the-mic-in-the-studio. it was worth it.

release number three for pleasure unit is an in house affair, a rare collaboration on some original material from two of the keyboard mashers. early feedback on les crocodiles has been great and we are currently waiting on a remix from one of our fav scandi producers who offered a mix on hearing a rough draft. three mixes in all le club, acid dub and tropique ambi sunrise.

to celebrate fifty fathoms deeps 2nd year of pressing we asked some of our favourite producers to remix a selection of cuts from our back catalogue and as expected they ve all come up trumps! the ep opens with fouk boys riding the groove on their remix of ugly drums don t let life (passing by) then thatmanmonkz goes left of centre with his reimagining of phil asher feat james massiahs move ya self. on the flip new zealand s frank booker comes correct on his take of lay-fars triptych to round off a great package. the ep is a fitting way to mark another year of quality music from fifty fathoms deep.

north lake is a fairly established name in the leftfield techno scene and each release he puts out leaves his listeners constantly looking forward to much more. the prolific and elusive michigan-based artist has a rich repertoire of previous releases and contributions on exemplary record labels such as permanent vacation, life and death, ellum or phonica.
the four tracks on his seventh ep stand out as masterful, immersive, very intense and at times eerie pieces of lower-bpm dance music. opener *sun gun* and title-track *two headed beast* follow up on the trails of *journey to the center of the sun* or *marlborol noir*, adding further proof of his ability to constantly deliver memorable synth jams. the b-sides *caverns* and *white lodge* allow him to explore his darker side, adding even more melodic intricacy and dramatic moments to his deep, eerie trademark sound.
*two headed beast* is our collectives sixth physical release to date and the first in a longer string scheduled in 2015. *white lodge* will be available exclusively on wax.

billy meier, the third record in the untold stories protagonist ep series, is by suokas, and includes a remix by alka rex. the works stem from the remote town of petrozavodsk in russia, where the artist suokas lives a life of diligent focus. the album is dedicated to billy meier whose extensive writings and transcriptions document his contact with extraterrestrial beings, largely from a civilisation called plejaren located a fraction of a second shifted from our own dimension. his works are devoted to widening consciousness and challenge what we conventionally accept as true. similarly inspired, suokas says my music is about things that cannot be proven by conventional methods.

having dropped some of our favourites from the last year on labels like mr saturday night and autonomous africa, we are very happy to welcome these guys to the ten thousand yen family. weird, trippy rhythms, space echoes and chaos held together with hard percussive sound. so sick.

the summer of 2015 sees gruuv celebrate 5 years in the game. we have put together a brand new compilation featuring 25 of our favourite artists, which will be released as 6 x 4 track vinyl releases every two weeks throughout the summer and features artwork from the renowned victoria topping. each ep will be released on limited edition vinyl, with a free poster and sticker inside, uniquely stamped from 001 - 500.
