friedrich goldmann would have turned 75. macro is celebrating the composers anniversary with a luxury box set cd edition of the complete trios of 1986 - 2004 and his singular oboe quartet (2000). two of the recordings were produced by goldmann himself, and all feature musicians with a long-term working relationship related to and deep expertise of the composers oeuvre such as ingo goritzki, bj�rn lehmann, members of ensemble mosaik and knm ensemble. the cd is accompanied by a 48 page booklet, featuring extensive essays by bj�rn gottstein (artistic director of donaueschingen music days) and musicologist bruno santos, exploring goldmannÕs groundbreaking aesthetics.

london born d. lean lives in the windswept swedish countryside on the outskirts of stockholm. his surroundings have a notable influence on the sound of the autoreply music boss. expansive and absorbing techno with a nod to the classic sounds and techniques of the genre. after two excellent 10inch singles and a remix of ken ishii and romboy s single taiyo, lean released an appetiser ahead of this double cd album of the same name, time tourism. this long player is a classy, deep and delicate dark electronica album in the tradition of detroit techno, which gets taken on a trippy, tracky and repetitive journey.

two years ago i played at studio 9 in vilnius, lithuania. the following day i missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend linus, who took me to the contemporary art centre. it was there i spotted a book named ÔrojusÕ, that linus told me translated as ÔparadiseÕ. the word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. a few days after returning home, i turned on to a national geographic documentary named Ôdesigned to danceÕ, explaining the courtship rituals of birds of paradise. as i watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birdsÕ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. this gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these birds of paradise and their habitat. thus, rojus. leon vynehall 2016
