mumdance & logos have put together a new mix cd for their different circles label. he mix cd tracklist also reveals the existence of a new, forthcoming imprint called devils, which dj sinclairs bells (rpg mix) and the boylan devil mix of logos glass will feature on.

* mumdance & logos present proto , tectonic s first major release of 2015, set for release on 16th february. * recorded by the duo over 2014, proto is a collection of 10 future-facing club tracks that, against the odds, also provides a deep and involving experience for the listener. * proto focusses on the very brief sparks of innovation when new scenes were just forming and genre rules and paradigm were still grey areas, the early bleep track days when imported american techno was starting to be appropriated by the uk, the 93-94 proto era when hardcore was morphing into jungle and later when the darker sound of tech-step reared its mechanical, dystopian head. * all of this is underpinned with Òwot u call itÓ grime sensibilities and mumdance & logos trademark sonic disortientation. mumdance & logos concentrate on taking the moods and colours created by these leaps forward in sound and twisting them into something new, keeping in line with the futuristic visions of the originators.

* the production duo behind the rave-new world sounds of turbo mitzi and big slug (feat. riko dan) have been busy in the studio recently and return to form with 2 killer cuts designed to shock out the dancefloor. * ’control’ picks up the tempo from the duos previous cuts, rolling at 140 beats per minute, in it’s apocalyptic form. powerful pads create the tension before sub-heavy kicks and cybernetic snares come pounding and chopping in, building up the mood before a radioactively charged reese-bassline emerges, rising to the surface, unleashing its terror. this is a stone-cold banger. * strobe light’ returns to the more familiar 128bpm tempo that the pair have previously worked with. taking a quite unique approach, ‘strobe light’ builds evermore, moving into the light, layering percussion up as an intoxicating drone of swirling strings swells and swells - entrancing and empowering in equal measures. this is a highly versatile dj tool that also makes for an engrossing listen from start to finish. refined dancefloor ear candy. dj support: mary ann-hobbs. modeselector, daniel avery.

>this mix was the perfect chance to sit down with pinch & bring together a sonic which we both feel we have been working towards for a while, albeit from very different angles. in my opinion the dance music climate in the uk is enjoying a healthy & extremely interesting transitional period one which i would draw parallels to the 93/94 proto era when people were literally making up the rules as they went along. this mix is a ode to that time & our attempt at throwing some ideas out there, with the hope of sparking some imaginations & pushing things further forward< - mumdance
