for our 57th release we’re stoked to be bringing you some heavy new biz from the one and only ron basejam. this man is responsible for some of the classiest disco-influenced house music dating back to ’05 when his anthemic for the people blew our minds and soundtracked many an after-party so perfectly. recent ep’s on eskimo, wolf music, futureboogie and top notch remixes for the likes of people must jam, brownswood and classic have all delivered in spades. here on the sound of a feeling ep we have three brilliant raw, stripped and chopped analogue jams plus the first ever remix from tee mango who comes hot off his stunning debut lp imperfections on millionhands.

this release journeys to mid-80s argentina and the highly sought after 2nd solo album of carlos cutaia. inspired by the new electronic sounds emanating from europe, this multi instrumentalist offers more than a pastiche, embedding his own melancholy in a unique and classic nueva wave-album. classically trained, carlos cutaia started as a composer for dance and theatre, before spending much of the 1970s as a member of a number heavy rock, prog rock and rock-fusion bands of some note, before finally going solo with the city of distant tones album in 1983. however, by the time of his 2nd solo album in 1985, as his country finally left behind a long period of military control and enjoyed greater freedoms, carlos was fully immersed in the new electronic pop sounds imported with hungry ears from europe. teaming up with fellow composer, keyboardist and producer, daniel melero and alejandro oucinde, the futurism of kraftwerk and gary numan s tubeway army was embraced, but also adapted to fit their native land, just as it was understand a new modernity. starting with the swagger of visiones incomunicadas, the template is set. sharp drum machines, semi-nonchalant, half spoken vocals set the scene, while chopped guitar and smart synth lines fit the over riding feeling of an intelligent nonchalance. things however, do go beyond the straightjacket of euro-pop as heard on the anthemic programacion and avant twist of the first of two piano-ambient pieces aproximacion dos and its companion piece uno found on the b side). eric satie and minimalism are clearly not far away. however, it is side b opener sensacion melancolica that captures the sound to perfection. a balearic masterpiece, capturing in it s title the over-riding atmospheric of a unexplained sadness, a loss. operativo and the poem humanos de america bring things to an end of a feeling melancolica.

end of dayz presents its tenth release with all stars vol 1., some old friends and a new face on the label. ness, who made a remix on the 002 brings us his original track “semblance”. nx1, who remixed the first reference and did the 003, brings us a mysterious “eod4”. on the b side we have nehuen, who has already published as cws (with cardopusher) the reference 006. this time brings us his track “fight or flight response”. finally, we welcome to end of dayz the german sebastian habben and his track “bdt”.

acid pauli is a name synonymous with certain aesthetic towards electronic music culture - both a part of the unhooked generation of that grew up experiencing his revelatory sets at places like bar 25 and fusion, and yet deeply rooted in musicality and adventurousness. bld, the second full album from martin gretschmann, (aka acid pauli), builds on his already impressive back catalogue which spans back to 2005, and includes a debut album released on nicolas jaar’s clown and sunset. over the course of the eight tracks here, gretschmann explores some of the many facets that have made him one of the most trusted artists in his field. released on his own (and nico stojan’s) label ouïe - the album is the perfect expression of the imprint’s commitment to diverse, exciting sounds, freed of the conventions of traditional club music. the album covers a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience. gretschmann’s well documented love of the sampler shines throughout - tracks are textured and colored with different hues from his extensive sound palette, whether it’s a part of his more psychedelic moments, or concentrated on his innate knowledge of dancefloor dynamics. as such bld sits together as a complete piece of music - to be relished just as much by blissed out home listeners as the left-field dancers.

over 3 years ago, casey tucker was thrust into the limelight after 15 years in the shadows. never truly getting the recognition for is detroit influenced and post rave sound in the 90s, for those that knoe reissued some of casey s classic material and unearthed some gems on dat in 2013. fast forward to the current day and a recent treasure trove was uncovered and some fresh dats untouched since the late 90s were discovered! ben promptly bought a dat player on ebay and shipped it to casey s home for the un-dusting to commence. fttk has worked with casey to present another round of authentic material spread across a further three eps. the track carpet dancer has been in demand since the fine balance recordings gained deserved attention. originally featuring as the a side on the very first fine balance ep, it evokes all of the emotions that caseys music can muster. juxtaposition is a slower groovy effort with meandering chords, trademark fizzy percussion and topped off with a lush string finale. whatever comes to mind rounds off the ep with a rolling percussive bassline, delicate arps and smooth sweeping pads.

fifth interval gather together some of the most forward thinking minds in the dub techno sphere for this various artists ep. those already acquainted with the label will be familiar with the likes of federsen and tomas rubeck, who headed up the first and second releases respectively. they are joined by dub techno luminary brendon moller, aka beat pharmacy and alessandro crimi, for this four tracker of perfectly contrasting arrangements. federsen opens the proceedings with the sunset sequence of bay blues, cascading keys rolling through the gaps in a subtly broken drum arrangement, making for effortless and captivating listening. beat pharmacy contributes his first original material to the label after a brace of remixes last year. showing true mastery of the board, chromed chord stabs are pushed and pulled around the mix in true dubwise style, drifting over a malleable bassline that packs a serious punch. on the flip side, tomas rubeck crafts a tightly woven backdrop of constantly evolving, organic atmospherics and powerful drum work for io, and this muscular workout is perfectly contrasted by the swung grooves and kaleidoscopic synthesis of alessandro crimis fractal clouds, which closes the ep.

the forthcoming release on spanish house imprint saft is a deep and grooving true house vinyl which will definitely provide you with some inner glow. the man behind this piece of fine wax is called washerman. this 3-track release is designed for clubs and outdoor jams where people dont necessarily need a scorching energy span to enjoy the music. with beautiful rhode sounds and touching vocal cuts this record should be in anyones record collection. raw but beautiful!

son of a beatnik - an absolutely monster record getting some well deserved reissue love! produced in chicago by the well loved and late dj chunk-a-bud aka adam malian (rip) all the way back in the mists of 1994 on rick lenoir s coveted house jam label this 12inch undoubtedly takes it s cue from the cities vast, rich and deep heritage of dj s and predecessors. this record proudly contains the spirit of the music box, the warehouse and all the other like-minded spaces that fuel it s disco thrusting beats, anyone with a passing interest will know the elements that make up son of a beatnik , they are classics in chicago and beyond! this is one of those records that just doesn t stop, it s still getting caned today by those lucky enough to own a copy. a true blue cult classic, real deal house music from the windy city. a truly rare 12inch that doesn t show up very often son of a beatnik is an essential release from a particularly fertile period in house music, chopped up, sampled, looped and programmed with love! a surefire winner, this record will cause infinite damage on any dance-floor. truly essential stuff here, this reissue has been realised with the full involvement of rick lenoir and is 100% legit! don t snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting house heads record bag or dj set, classic material made available again for 2017!

if you’re setting out on an epic voyage to the electronic disco universe, it pays to recruit an experienced pilot. when it comes to intergalactic musical fusion, few are quite as experienced as cosmic disco pioneer and noted dancefloor explorer daniele baldelli. produced alongside friend and regular studio partner dario piana, zero gravity cannily updates baldelli’s early ‘80s cosmic disco blueprint for the 21st century. we think that the ep contains some of his strongest music to date, with each of the three cuts offering subtle nods to the italian maestro’s original cosmic club ethos. a-side “infinity machine” expertly combines many of baldelli’s greatest musical inspirations into one mind-bending late night workout. underpinned by a druggy, arpeggio style bassline, the track rises and falls through waves of funk-rock guitars, crunchy clavinet lines and intertwined synthesizer solos. throw in jammed-out electric pianos, and you have a near perfect fusion of cosmic disco and blazed funk-rock. the producer’s long-held love of african rhythms surfaces on “if you drive”, where bold acid bass, ricocheting percussion hits and weightless chords combine beautifully with starry melody lines and vintage analogue synthesizer motifs. it’s afro-cosmic for the nu-disco generation. a fine ep is completed by “air lock”, in which baldelli and piana pepper a rubbery, electrofunk-influenced groove with cascading synthesizer melodies, swirling pads and a swathe of fuzzy, eyes-closed guitar solos. it’s bold and assertive, but also as otherworldly and stratospheric as you’d expect from a pioneer at the peak of his powers.

chicago house legend mystic bill joins crimes of the future with two straight up jacking house tracks with bonus instrumental and a mind bending remix by scott fraser. bill torres needs little introduction to those fans of the original chicago movement in the late 1980 s and 1990 s, he produced a string of 12inches for the likes of trax and relief records whilst playing and holding down dj residences in some of the citties best loved venues. after remixing scott fraser s no word of truth release last year on his dx recordings label his first full solo release on crimes of the future has arrived.the a cut frequency 9 is a rolling jacker with rattling percussion and dark synth stabs to dement the warehouse dancefloor and very much in the line of bills trademark style. a2 sees fraser return the remix favour delivering a massive floor bumping remix adding all new drums, 303 and huge bassline giving a nod to the classic sound of those sex trax/ power music 12s from the 1990 s with his 11 minute mind control remix. the frequency cannot be controlled! side b has both the original and a bonus intrumental of the ship is sinking, a dark slice of jacking house complete with real tension and total mastery of the sampler for those able to spot it.

what can you expect? take the best fusion-band ever (chick coreas return to forever), some james brown funk, synth-fun like tangerine dream and even a bit of hardrock, and youre getting close. this is zappa, the flemish zappa: cool,funny, sad, difficult,no record for those who love the traditional verse-chorus-verse, and so probably as uncommercial as it can get

darren allen joins the family at discobar for a 2-part release, the first containing four abstract grooves disrupted by distinctive sound interventions both synthesised and real. a clock ticking on ‘initiation’ joins rapping snares in giving intent to the track’s floating melodic figures and vocalisations. ‘manitou’ overlays steppy breaks with the rumble and roar of the eponymous heavy-duty vehicle, an invasion of the outside world sure to bewilder some dancefloors.things turn darker with distorted highs and groggy mid-range drift in ’obyvatel’, before the quiet industry of ’molecular’ – its assorted bubbles and rattles both musical and humorous – brings us back to the light.

how do you follow up a stone-cold afro funk classic like village boogie? simple. gather together some of the hottest players in nigeria, take them down to the phonodisk studios in ijebu igbo and let them loose on a bunch dancefloor fillers you spent the last four years ‘road testing’ in kaduna. and don’t forget to get lady franka and mariam pledge in on backing vocals. those girls know how to fire up a party. it helps, of course, if you’re steve ‘dudu’ black. steve had a god-given knack for writing combustible dance tunes and the contacts in the industry to get the likes of willy nfor, willy roy and felix lebarty to make them explode. from the opening track, ‘osasuima’, the heat never stops. on ‘no stopping me now’ and ‘ololufe/ stay the night’, it’s almost too hot to handle. polished in a studio in london while musical youth recorded pass the dutchie in the next room, happy birthday to u is the gift that keeps on giving – an irresistible blend of highlife, afro beat and afro funk that is guaranteed to start a party on any dance floor.

catz n dogz continue to roll out their pets sub label step recordings and follow up a slew of soulheavy dance records from baltra, reno wurzbacher and the analog roland orchestra with a solo ep from fellow polish producer universo. with previous appearances on transatlantyk, the auspicious newcomer slots neatly into the step catalogue in presenting his ‘underworld’ ep: a package of softly glowing lo-fi that fans of baltras recent sophia ep on step will relish. underworld then unfolds at a steady, hypnotic pace as moody, interlocking chords and paired up with a gentle spoken vocal that work together to create a poignant, eyes-down mood. icy strings and a trippy spoken are introduced before kora buta follows up with some warm, swooning sample work. sleeper is next up as distant, meandering thumb pianos and rainy textures colour the tracks fuzzy drums while a glassy, legowelt-esque pad glides overhead.frequenza kicks things off a soft, sizzling pad sent ducking under a rock-hard kick drum.

inspired by selfish showmanship of social networks argomat and jen from hannover packed their very own view of things into this release. long live the selfie-stick...not. the b-side is just about misunderstanding. all in all...don t take this release too serious. there is a beat, a bassline, some things around that and essentially again, the really nice voice of jen. with mikel gil (lonely owl records) from spain and label owner gunman we have two fantastic remixes and both are delivering their own perception of music. enjoy :)

for release number four octo champ brings his not quite here yet ep to the table and hits a house music home run and then some. two part summery club jams, two part dreamy morning after grooves, packed with deep synth swells, diva-esque vocal samples and sultry basslines. this one’s bringing the summer to winter 2017.

this record is a double sided split-remix 10” touching on nostalgic house moments with colourful elements. on the a-side, sam karam turns a gorgeous and raw banger into a hazy atari odyssey, bringing out the rolling arpeggios and subtle harmonies of pepe’s hit from his debut album. on the flip-side is pepe’s ay karamba remix, with hypnotic chord sequences, vocal stabs and entrancing breakdown hits you like some balearic nitrous oxide.

aequilon records proudly present it’s superb first release! boyd goosman (who used to be part of the techno outfit noirdegout) was known for his powerfull releases on no fear records, and white noise (dave clake’s imprint) which have been played by some of the most recognised djs of the scene (laurent garnier, fabrice lig, dave clarke ...). he now works on his own, finding his niche in strong but deep and evocative techno. this new material on aequilon show his love for electro, detroit vibes, but also berlin’s modern techno. after spending so many hours in recent years dancing all other europe on the weirdest and wild dancefloors, boyd goosman felt that it was the right moment to express again his unique sonic trademarks. for this first release on aequilon, we asked to berlin’s resident cadency aka héctor oaks (reclaim your city, key vinyl, oaks records ...) to deliver an absolute killer remix of ‘lost control’ and he did it with an ultraphat bassheavy monster!

public releases hits the lab for some aural alchemy and to turn out its first release of 2017. a four-tracker from moscow’s phil gerus, scenes—or, in the producer’s native russian, &#1089,&#1094,&#1077,&#1085,&#1099,—manages to have a makeup that’s both peculiar and magnetic. the title’s a fitting one, every track feels like a vignette in a collection of short stories. separately, they’re self-contained, but a rich narrative arch is added when they’re sewn together. if there is a theme here, it’s of viewing the future through the dusty lens of the past, and each of the songs explores this in its own fashion. the kick-off, “ohashi sky garden,” starts as a hyped-up italo space epic, pumped full of swirling synth licks and sharp, tight drums, but it mutates into something completely its own when vocal samples (90s r&b?) and warm keys (prog rock rhodes?) enter. after the original’s brisk five minutes, the legendary richard sen—graffiti guy, breaks guy, house guy, disco guy, half-of-padded-cell guy—steps in to give it a trance-y tinge while doubling its runtime and adding a dancefloor-destroying hi-nrg coloration. the b begins with “naha swim,” a crunchy funk foot-stomper that might as well be an unreleased idjut boys or ray mang ditty dug up from the noid catacombs. fiery and furious, yet utterly cheeky. serving as a sort of coda to “naha” is “kiss of a kind,” a gerus take on 80s adult contemporary, replete with sleazy sax and sensual pads. a gentle nightcap to a zigzagging, antic 12-inch
