powder is a young producer raised in rural japan, now living in tokyo. she wakes daily at 6am, squeezes onto a packed subway and commutes to a bland office building where her day is consumed by the electronics industry � a banal world of blank stares, uniforms, data entry and soliciting phone calls. she cherishes her lunch break, a solitary hour of astral projection where her daydreams cull inspiration for another life, her nocturnal routine. at 9pm the day closes, as her co-workers flock to the izakaya for beers, powder rushes to her micro home-studio to exorcize her daily demons, constructing a tropical temple to house her immaculate vision. she slaves away, unabashed until sunrise, when her routine begins again, however, todays lunch break is an escape into her headphones where she will revisit her soundtrack inspired by lights, colors, hometown memories, and the imaginary worlds where the fruits of her labour will live.

craig peyton was a mainstay in nyc jazz and dance music beginning in the 70s. from playing on dan hartmans -vertigo/relight my fire- to his work on boogie funk productions with daryl payne, he is one of the unsung heroes of the era where disco transitioned into house music. his drum machine and synth based cover of william devaughans -just be thankful- came out on profile records in 1983, a daring move for a white man trained on the vibes. he gives the jam a haunting and funky rework that has only escalated in popularity over the years. it has been bootlegged extensively while original copies remain quite elusive.

transmitting from new york (via toronto), jex aka jex opolis has so far been known as the man behind and in front of the good timin label. infamous for its boogie burner bombs to quote discogs member kutter karlo jex, trades his label for running back and a shifts the gear. up with the tempo and down with the lights, there still is a variety of styles. studio e is named after an after hours spot in edmonton that the record s author partied at in the early 2000s, also sounds like something ivan smagghe would have enjoyed at that point in time. laxmi tool is referencing classic tribal house and a street in pune, where jex wifes grandma bought the drum used in this track. on the flip, harpa brags and boasts with its trampoline bass line, while la casa surfs some timpani waves.

more abstract, forward thinking house music courtesy of transatlantyk. mondo hehe is the fifth ep in a growing catalogue of the label and is one of its most adventurous offerings yet. lutto lento (real name lubomir grzelak) is an experimental musician from warsaw, poland, who specialises in dark, spooky, uneasy music that s hard to categorise. apart from running two experimental cassette only labels (sangoplasmo and dunno recordings), lutto lento records music for contemporary theatre and forward thinking european labels like ftd and where to now? he is equally inspired by avant-garde and surreal sounds from the bygone eras as well as raw house and techno music of today. his music tends to absorb the listener into a parallel, imaginary world, where sounds of a lamenting cry of a trumpet (b2) and a voice counting numbers on top of the rolling exotica style bongos (a2) are as important as jacking chicago house drums (b1) and energetic basslines (a3). from the jumping beats of the title track, to the late night deep roller casino , the * mondo hehe ep* is a superb collection of non-generic house music that sounds as good at a club, as it does at home.

original rio beach boy marcos valle returns with a brazilian masterpiece. evoking his carioca sound - where expansive orchestral sweep meets beautiful melody and complex harmony - valle mixes perfect romantic bossa-pop with cinematic brass and strings. this new recording explores a six decade career that has swung between pop, bossa nova, delicate psychedelia, jazz, and funk. responsible for bossa classic >summer samba (so nice)< valle has collaborated with leon ware, sarah vaughan, & chicago, seen his track >ele e ela< sampled by jay z for blueprint 3, and his songs recorded by the likes of frank sinatra and bebel gilberto.

amsterdam native mr mendel continues to churn out top notch edits at a steady pace in between crate digging and gigs around the world. this second 12 inch for basic fingers is a welcome follow up to his previous release which featured fela & gil. on release no.28 he s dug even deeper than last time and found not one, two or three but four absolute killer songs to take his razor sharp blade to. no messing around, mr mendel aims straight for the top with these joyful disco cuts.

welcoming the fourth vinyl only instalment from farfromnormal features an excellent 3 track ep from the up and coming julian. after a long process julian has come up with 3 great original tracks which farfromnormal where happily to take on board and put together julian s very first vinyl release. this record grabs your attention from the start with track 1 resorave. resorave is a very psychedelic track with dark drums and beautiful slow atmospheres and a tripping vocal. track 2 grunge is much more on the groovy side to with fantastic production and pads that take you on a great journey. track 3 chorale is the title track and the one track to leave you on a high, with the heavy kicks and bass lines mixing between a tripping vocal and beautifully placed instruments, this is perfect for the peak hours.

oltrarno is an ancient neighborhood of florence where merchants, artisans and artists were struggling against the sleepiness for centuries. the first release of oltrarno recordings is called *worlds*, produced by the florence - berlin based o.r. crew and dedicated to explore the different shades of clubbing music.

andré laos second act on let s play house is a continuation of his first. like roundabout, nordic delight (the guy hails from gothenburg, so you can guess where the title originated), is sunny and bright piano laden house that s as melodious as it is layered and ornate. unlike that ep, though, this one really revolves around one track stroganoff which is presented in three different forms: a vocal mix, a piano stew dub, and a remix from anton klint of tiedye. supplementing and equalizing those is kalops, the 12inches second original.

we had no choice but to bring back our friend kiko navarro after the success of the new life ep released on local talk earlier this year. isao is kiko at his finest, a beautiful and hypnotic house track that has the perfect blend of afro and latin elements with a bouncy electronic edge. theres also a mighty fine remix coming from jose marquez. jose develops the vocal elements and brings in a whole orchestra of drums taking the track in a sweatier direction. kiko also delivers a koki dub where he continues on the same vibe and adds strings complimented by shakers and percussions throughout the track.

drumma records presents its second collaboration with romanian duo vinyl speed adjust (vsa). the ep titled the awakening shows us vsas intelligent approach to music, an ideal fit at drumma records where creatively effervescent music is embraced with open arms. the record has 4 tracks. the eponymous the awakening is a special trip between break rhythms, modern jazz and a dreamy perpetual arpeggio. it creates a great mood for artists who want to present something special during their set. a2 is the grind, a very strong and acid track with a powerful evolving bassline that creates perfect suspense. inspired by the 90s, its raw and its analogue, definitely a hot track. monoxide comes with a linear rhythmic pattern and a very deep sub-bass sound fused with trippy synth soundscapes, ideal to put in a mental note during a session. the release is topped off with an amazing remix by the great valentino kanzyani. hes brought his own approach to the grind. the remix is a track with very strong groove and an intelligent evolution that creates small sonic worlds at every turn. valentino knows how to masterfully work a constant crescendo where tension and rest is perfectly resolved and we can feel his approach to techno at its best.

ontals work excites many conflicting emotions. exuberant, convoluted and theatrical plots define the watchwords attached to the serbian duo. they represent one of the most paradigmatic examples of how industrial/techno can still offer a wide range of pleasant surprises. a visceral understanding of the scenic rhythm space vs. void establishes a metamorphic composition in short of an almost baroque sensitivity. always moving around an unstable fringe of intuition-rules-over-eclecticism, together with an attitude of total irreverence against the old aphorism, but keeping at the same time an incredible discipline of sophistication, produce a situation where anything touched by them have to be immediately placed at the top of the evolution line of the electronic music. �pietà� simply shows this feeling at their best.

kike pravda is an artist and producer who has come to release on labels such as warm up recordings, m_rec, psychoskunk, labrynth and many more which have given very good results by the best djs. all this leads him to create his own label in 2012 to continue contributing to the techno scene, his own sound, senoid recordings. senoid enters into the most modern techno without forgetting where the techno came from, betting on vinyl and digital format with the best producers of nowadays.
