to those of you who know your techno, shawn rudiman should be a well-known name. a prolific producer, he has nevertheless always kept his quality control on a tight leash, and releases on 7th city, technoir audio, integrated, dust science & matrix (amongst others) have brought him a reputation of being one of the finest producers around of contemporary detroit style (aka melodic) techno. a nice taster on the last minimalsoul release (sashimi hi) has hence led on to a full ep, and its classic stuff...tough beats and esoteric but catchy melodies all tied up with an expansive production ethic make for a great listen, and (perhaps unusually with this style of music) for a great dancefloor experience too!

forward strategy group follow up their seriously killer debut 12inch release >transect< with another fresh slab of monolithic, bass heavy techno entitled: >applied generics<. with support from surgeon, ben sims, marcel heese (tresor), samuli kemppi (berghain), grovskopa (token, audio assault) ++ applied generics has already booted a sizeable hole in the ceiling @ clubs worldwide. this new release was featured as part of ben sims and surgeons frequency 7 set on mary anne hobbs radio 1 show and as part of surgeons resident advisor podcast. the first offering is a skanking slice of techno with a shuffled re-sequenced edge delivering a cortex scrambling mess of barbed wire sounds wrapped around a linear, tracky beatstructure. this is a unique cut with a very distinct sound somewhere between berlin minimalism and dark wave uk techno. on the flip deep rumbling textures, ghostly tones and spectral, metalic chords lie in wait on the second offering, which takes on a more berlin influenced deep style pitching it somewhere in between basic channel and sandwell district. big

10 years ago toronto’s matt thibideau (aka altitude/coordinates) contributed one of the finest tracks in cynosure history. today matt returns with three brand new cuts and a re-mastered version of the cyn001 classic track entitled “archenar”. asphalt starts things off with a cutting edge syncopated groove that precisely reflects the cynosure sound over the years. a minimal, swingin, synth stab work out giving you the right amount of funk. archenar smooths things out with some lush pads and a dreamy reverb on the drums creating a subtle washed effect, perfect for the early morning blur. but let’s not forget to mention the killer ms-20 sub bass line.. ahhh so deep. icebox comes next with some icy precision fm syncopation in the mix. accompanied by matt’s signature classic synth percussion grooves. full of melody and warmth this track would melt most refrigerators down. last but not least the outside b track entitled 30 story drop. following suite with matt’s previous releases on blue records under the alias altitude 30 story drop dives deep into basic channel influenced dub and drops some serious bass. matt thibideau’s return to the label has been long anticipated and proves that cynosure’s mandate of releasing timeless uncompromising music is still very much alive 10 years on

abusing our soft side for dub edgar 9000 gave us these compelling tracks.>play me minus three (patience vs. epiphany mix)< û what starts like a nicely arranged minimal tune bubbles and billows after a short pause up to a big ride on the acid-dub-ghost-train. at the latest when the decently deployed and gated french horn pad sets in on the second half you are completely lost. not for quick peep û but beware: danger of addiction of endless playing is definitely given.meanwhile the title >hook & bait< of the b-side rather reads like the basic principle of fishing. it really sounds like the classic principle of ambient à well almost, since in this case this ambient track is drifting along itself, underlined with a straight driving and floating rhythm fed by an earthly bassline.petri heil! (as we say in krauts-country)

its 4 years that paul hadnt released any tracks (except remixes) on his own label but on and on is here to demonstrate that he hasnt lost his unique sense of vintage sound. a deep and melodic club tune! on the b side, we are very proud to offer 2killer remixes by a neighbour and a friend: julian jeweil. the strong bass line of the first vision makes it even more efficient than the original one. a must have for sure on this remix, julian jeweil added some crisp percussive elements with the mainmelodic theme behind that raise slowly but surely. this vision 2 will cause damage on the dancefloor.
