as far as i know is the new project by electronic music veteran eduardo de la calle. under this new moniker, eduardo is exploring the roots of detroit electro whilst sticking to his signature sound of trippy melodies and rhythms, which we were able to experience through so many quality releases over the last decades. this first ep by as far as i know, which also includes a collaboration with nathan surreal on b2 (fact speak itself), takes us on a trip back to the future and deep into the realm of sci-fi related electro, idm, and techno. pressed on 180g hand-stamped quality wax.

rene lavice’s journey continues with his third lp on formative drum & bass imprint ram records, a label whose history spans across two decades. after being exclusively signed, following his pivotal ‘headlock’ release, the canadian stalwart has remained a centrepiece of ram’s roster and his back catalogue is nothing short of groundbreaking. the same consistency has been administered to his forthcoming ‘far from perfect’ package, whilst building on the foundations of both ‘insidious’ and ‘play with fire’ to present another look into his versatile capabilities. as well as a plethora of taste-making singles and the announcement of his bbc radio 1 residency last year, rene’s career has flourished, alongside the creativity which streams through each one of his records.

there was only ever going to be one choice to launch first floor. not only is dubbyman the cover star of our debut publication of the same name, but he s also the face and sound of influential spanish label deep explorer, in-demand producer/remixer and long-time favourite with us. so the opportunity to collaborate on a special edition 7- vinyl release was one we couldn t miss. so far, featuring south african vocalist and musician ras vadah from the therapy collektive, is an extended version of the laidback, jazzy opening teaser from dubbyman s debut album deep is dead. deep explorer stalwart leo gunn, on remix duties for the first time, takes the same track and gives it a piano-driven, dance-floor focused spin. the accompanying fanzine not only includes interviews with both dubbyman and gunn, but also features articles on johannes albert, tommo & jonno, jesus gonsev, arnheim, sensible soccers and more.

in recent years mark reeve has become a pivotal member of the drumcode crew. his 2015 ep debut run back was a standout, before he backed it up strongly with nine of you , his collaboration with adam beyer that featured on a-sides vol.4, ensuring his place in the hearts of dc fans.

rudy returns to faze action records with an all-new collection of atmospheric and evocative tropical sounds. last august saw the release of the by nature ep that encapsulated the steamy and exotic textures of the balearic sound. this time, midnight safari takes up where on the beaches of formentera, where the last ep left us. this time setting sail on a midnight safari with marimba s and chugging rhythms underpinning sophisticated piano melodies. following this we drop anchor and appreciate the evening breeze of in the air with its haunting cello, endless drifting arpeggio s and tropical percussion with a hint of north africa. reach backless points the way squarely to the dance floor with chunky drums and synth bass, synth hooks galore and that piano solo that launches into starry evening skies. it s back down to earth with the settled quiet bass guitar harmonics of windchimes before heading into the more soulful and synth melodic territory of solar plex.

the first release on black wattle comes from sydney talent thomas gray. the ep, ‘never far enough, sits somewhere between a record for home and a record for the dancefloor. part ambient, part spacious percussion, toms ep has the ability to relax you after a long day or keep you moving into the night. it is also toms first time being pressed on wax.

the first single taken from the forthcoming 3rd album by lay-far! never good enough for you is a deeply intimate and emotionally charged love message, written in collaboration with the acclaimed singer and songwriter stee downes. rough and edgy but equally soulful beat, showcasing heavy influences from hip-hop, broken beat and house, forms a perfect foundation for the heart-felt story of emotional struggle and break-up, delivered by stee downes! autobiographical song for both the songwriter and the producer. the single comes packaged with an instrumental version and a remix. the latter is a slightly more straightforward and politically-correct vision of the song, also produced by lay-far, using roland tr-707 drum machine instead of the gritty chopped drum breaks of the original. last but not least comes the bonus track -blow my mind bottom-heavy banger on the edge of funky breakbeats, bruk and classic electro a 2018 modern fusion ode to b-boying and breaking boundaries! watch out for the second single and the full-length album war is over, coming out later this year!

faze action records, (far), next release unearths the disco wonder of unreleased music by andromeda orchestra. the lead track has been expertly remixed by legendary dj nick the record, extending the percussion, bass, keyboard sections and then teasing in the vocals towards the end to turn the track into a peak time disco burner which sits comfortably alongside disco old and new. on a2 we have high steppin which see s andromeda orchestra heading for a more stripped down instrumental track, tight percussion and keys drive home another floor filler. b1 we have the original mix of get up & dance, staying true to a classic disco arrangement. with b2 ,andromeda orchestra exit with a more laid back funk/disco groove perfect for the warm up.

cgi records is extremely proud to be presenting the new ep from oakland via-bermuda based artist russell e.l. butler. i m dropping out of life are 4 cuts of essentialist dance music that can provide an ecstatic escape from the drudges of professional life for all who so rightly seek it. as russell himself elaborates, the title has been on my mind a lot, since i almost lost my life in the ghost ship fire and watched as many of my friends lost theirs. i came up with the title several months ago, in fact 2 of the tracks were shopped in a producer s group that johnny (nackt) and chelsea (cherushii) were a part of, both of whom i lost in the fire. this release is about a commitment to life. the life that i refer to dropping out of, is a life where dreams are put on hold, where concessions are made in order to just survive. but that comes at a cost, one that is far too great for me to pay at this point. i wrote this poem, it ll come as an insert with the record.

there is a way to reach into the pulse of everything. it comes when ideas are stripped down to their bare essentials, blossoming then into massive monoliths that are designed with elegant simplicity. such is the path taken on our next limited 7inch, led by chronicle veterans staffan linzatti and new comer to the stable, arnuad le texier. entitled far behind the line, it embarks with a sense of soaring weightless that only arnaud can provide. radar is a statement of futurism, thrusting the listener forward and farther into the in nite. its sonic qualities mimic radio towers, satellites, and frequencies transmitted from the far reaches of the unknown.destination acts as the perfect counter, disrupting the psyche in all the right ways with dissonant wails and unearthly chimes. together they come as a distinct package, presenting an impressionistic interpretation of what may come, or what already has.

with a meticulous sound design and audibly distinguish, suciu s latest work transports the listener into an exquisite intricacy, far away from the conventional. showcasing a mysteriously dark, eerie atmosphere, -translucid- subsists a glitched out after hours affair. this heavy piece of techno house minimalism plays along with a quirkly oddity allready established in suciu s trademark. on the other side we find -jesus chrysler-, a refined micro-house beat that hosts a warmer ambiance, delivering a delightful context for carefully selected whimsy sounds.

even if russian producer gradient logic is found here turning out the business on serbian label disco fruit, the sound on the far away ep comes on like a snappy fusion of garage-ready new york proto house and laid back west coast boogie of the highest order. it s the third vinyl release for tonbe s label, and once more marks the serious clout behind the eastern european operation and its closest artists. just try grooving to the slick bass pops on feel me without being transported to an early 80s dancefloor. there s a more organic funk to lock into on i want you slide, but as ever it s hard to tell where the sampling ends and the musicianship begins on this utterly natural sounding ep.

since it was very hard to grow musically or in any other artistic way in regard of our surroundings, we always had a need to find inspiration somewhere else. things that were a given for some were far fetched and hard to come by. a distant dream. that s why we decided to go forward. a final push to reach the place we wanted to be. a place we can call home.

ever since the debut, communication ep which also marked our 50th release, alexander lay-far has a special place in the local talk family.

when a label within thirteen catalog releases has only one of them branded as various artists, than the focus on this release seems to be really interesting. exactly that is the case with dreizehn and its three protagonists.

the faze action brothers released their fifth studio album entitled body of one last year and to continue the celebration they have recruited some heavy weight talents to give their spin on three tracks from that album. first, the brothers take on the remix duties of magic touch, giving it a dub house reboot that could be the sound track to countless sunsets this summer. next up is a deft dub mix of the same track by maxidiscs cohort and globe trotting dj, dicky trisco. on the flip side we have the balearic powerhouse that is phil mison, remixing echoes of your mind into an electronic, down tempo feast with additional bass, guitar and keyboard played by the man himself. the final mix on this 12inch is provided by emotional response curator and head honcho stuart leath under his chuggy guise, delivering an organic dub mix of faze actions floating world
