after a strong run in the early 00 s, 3am recordings came back into action in 2016 with a various artists release that featured a range of artists closely tied to the label s foundations. now label boss al bradley is stretching his wings with -night owl-, a refined production that demonstrates his experience in the field of tech house. goshawk comes on board for a remix that takes the deep sweeping original and makes it into an effervescent summer time groover, while label regular michael scott nudges -night owl- into stripped down late night territory. the third remix from fourfourfour heads into oddball territory for those who like their house music off kilter and playful.

time runs fast and it s time again for our annual vinyl release. for our second delivery we have on board two of the best producers in the techno panorama, no other than tensal and p.e.a.r.l.
tensal opens the release with his own particular version of the original, enforcing the beats adding white noise sweeps, twisting the sound and rearranging the structure in a clever and hypnotic vein. following on b2 a special edit version of the original mix.
on b side p.e.a.r.l. is on remixing duties offerin a raw beat exercise as remix one and a more complex rework as bonus remix to close the release.

fifth interval gather together some of the most forward thinking minds in the dub techno sphere for this various artists ep. those already acquainted with the label will be familiar with the likes of federsen and tomas rubeck, who headed up the first and second releases respectively. they are joined by dub techno luminary brendon moller, aka beat pharmacy and alessandro crimi, for this four tracker of perfectly contrasting arrangements. federsen opens the proceedings with the sunset sequence of bay blues, cascading keys rolling through the gaps in a subtly broken drum arrangement, making for effortless and captivating listening. beat pharmacy contributes his first original material to the label after a brace of remixes last year. showing true mastery of the board, chromed chord stabs are pushed and pulled around the mix in true dubwise style, drifting over a malleable bassline that packs a serious punch. on the flip side, tomas rubeck crafts a tightly woven backdrop of constantly evolving, organic atmospherics and powerful drum work for io, and this muscular workout is perfectly contrasted by the swung grooves and kaleidoscopic synthesis of alessandro crimis fractal clouds, which closes the ep.

london’s eartoground reaches its sentinel twentieth release with more bespoke, forward thinking techno and happily welcomes on board another italian artist, nico campanella aka kaelan. with this release he very much shows why he is here via an excellent display of his prolific, emotive sound. kaelan first came on the radar after his early release on dax j’s imprint monnom black. tracks written for etg020 fit perfectly with eartoground’s overall aesthetic of ever evolving techno. in addition, the release also includes dynamic remix work by kessell from polegroup and granulart recordings.

footwork label boss jay lumen is back on board with two massive techno bangers.-warehouse trip- is a rolling peak time ride with some nice old school elements.you can hear special dusty stabs in the break to add the right balance for the track.-search- is a chord oriented anthem with great bass synth sprays on a fat kick and bass line.it has a nice contrast and leads you to the dance floor step by step.

lucidflow make a ninth journey onto wax with label co-owner nadja lind s tribe dub , and no punches have been pulled with the array of top drawer remixers on board - featuring brendon moeller, tigerskin & jack jenson, and terry lee brown jnr. nadja s original fires on all cylinders with a frantic sub-bass assault that isn t going to be happy unless your lungs have been thoroughly bruised by a main room s speaker stack. as the bass tumbles, phasing dub stabs gracefully arc into the stratosphere and back again.

roman flügel and andrew weatherall supply two outstanding remixes of phil kieran recent album ‘blinded by the sun’, which david holmes claimed is “one of the best electronic dance inspired records in recent times.” mixmag described phil kieran as “one of those producers that impresses with every release” so it comes as no surprise that two music heavyweights have jumped on board for remix duty. kieran accounts flügel and weatherall to both having a heavy influence on his career. german dj and producer roman flügel is easily one of the most revered names in the dance music spectrum. his take on ‘no life’ is a masterclass in production. flügel has created a track that is powerful whilst also superbly intricate. flügel holds over twenty years of experience, extensively releasing on a number of labels whilst also co-founding ongaku, klang and playhouse recordings. uk born dj and producer maestro andrew weatherall remixes ‘finds love’ and reminds the listener of how beautiful electronic music can be. combining cosmic layers with the ethereal vocal, this is a lesson in what a remix means. weatherall has been experimenting with techno since the 90s, and well regarded as one of the world’s most influential djs. kieran created a ten track narrative in ‘blinded by the sun’, inspired by his experiences in the industry. it was met with high acclaim globally and this remix package further imprints his vision on pioneering imprint hot creations.

nice price deal !!! airhead continues to impress and confound with his run of releases on r&s. his last release >wait/south congress< found itself gaining praise right across the board. it showcased his atmospheric guitar styles as well as his deft programming skills, resulting in some trying to pigeon-hole his sound in a post rock/electronica direction. this ep proves it not that easy to pin him down with two new tracks of fresh club music. pyramid lake again showcases his expert manipulation of samples, but this time weaves them into a drunken dance groove, full of whirring percussion and heavy bass. black ink is a bubbling, percussive roller that in the hands of a lesser producer would sound like a traincrash. it bounces along almost out of control and sucks you into its charms until it hits you with some uplifting, haunted chords, at which point it is impossible to resist.

shortly after aussteiger s successful debut on dub disco we knew exactly that we wanted our long time friends s&w on board for our second release. these guys have been a huge influence on us for a long time now. first we fell in love with their eclectic and powerful dj sets and when we heard the demos of these hardware nerds we were truly blown away. when we asked them to produce our second release they handcrafted this ep full of lovely analogue sounds for us. it surely stands in contrast to the first record and by that underlines exactly what dub disco is about: a journey through the vastness of electronic music.

tokyo hipster electronic band lo hype forges forward their new e.p simplex six. taking their unique sound to new contempo heights. jerome sydenham jumps on board with route 50 resulting in a robust techno enhancement. this 4 tracker exhibits a commanding sonic attitude and an original flavour that is sure to endure the test of time.

dublin based disco imprint fatty fatty phonographics return with the 4th instalment of their downtownsounds classics series, this time throwing three stone-cold classics onto one 12, all given the re-edit treatment by in house producers pablo and shoey. voiced by leroy burgess, with drums by hip hop legend marley marl and production by the aleem brothers, release yourself was a huge across-the-board anthem in the clubs of nyc on its release in 1984. the lads have superglued elements of both the vocal and dub sides together for an epic end of night take on this beloved classic. the b side features two under appreciated classics from the pen of one billy nichols, a man known for his work with west end records (the levan mixed give your body up to the music ) and the funky band of brothers that was bt express. on take me... nichols hooked up with disco master patrick adams for an emotional, string drenched disco belter that has found favour with the likes of dimitri from paris, floating points and hunee. while dance if off is a wonky proto acid-disco trip beloved of rahaan and eric duncan of rub n tug. with copies going for over 300 euros, you can do your bank account and your dancefloor a favour here.

hailing from lithuanian capital vilnius, miskotom appears on pleasure unit for a debut appearance that should appeal to all lovers of delicate, pop flecked house with a smooth 80s veneer. the production is perfect for the mood of the music, with the dusty groove of the title track embellished with eastern flute motifs and larry heard chords of the sweetest melancholy. - downtown - meanwhile revels in slap bass finery, and -tempelhof kite- gets a rubbery moog tone in the low end that offsets the woozy pads beautifully. kito jempere comes on board for a remix that dubs -tempelhof kite- down into a warm and sexy house cut of the highest order.

gazel is one of those tunes that went viral from the very first minute. djs like baris k, ata or acid arab are still playin this tune since it was made in 2013. mehmet aslan and dario rohrbach finally managed to create with gazel this kind of tune that blows away every dance floor. the impact was not only on the dance floor. several threads on social media appeared with videos, desperately looking for the track id. but there were also the ones, that had to rip it of a set of baris k, so they can play it. the b-side goes definetly deeper when alma negra is able to make a tune you want to open your set. on this gem they combine northafrican folklore sounds with classic deephouse drumpatterns and trippy synths. fleeting wax has managed to put together some of the most promising artists of the hour, having dario rohrbach on board who is part of the alma negra collective and will hit this year with promising releases for example on yoruba. this release is going to find his way in many dj-bags and wont leave it so fast
