the droids beamed down to planet earth in the year 1978. yves hayat aka droids, was a young label manager at the seminal french disco label barclay in the seventies. >star peace<, originally released in 1979 is his concept to the classic sci fi movie >star wars< out that year. featuring the french space synth classic >(do you have) the force<, in both parts, this lp goes from strength to strength with spaced out lullabys >inner space< & >tchough fou<, before kicking back into the groove with >be happy< an assault to the senses with its manic synth lines running riot over heavy funk overtones. the flip kicks off with >shanti dance< parts 1 & 2, sleezy robot-funk work outs that are inter-joined to make a 6 minute continually evolving piece of music. the closing eight-and-a-half- minute >renaissance de l amour< is a tour de force of cinematic synthscapes, bleeps, bloops and world rhythms, before dropping in the drums 6 minutes in to ignite any dancefloor. this is light years ahead of its time.

bon & rau are rainy citys newcomer jacques bon and christopher rau. jacques is originally from paris and takes care of the smallville recordstore in la cité d amour. he fell in love with hamburg though when he first came there and calls st. pauli a home since a little while now. while hanging at smallville record store in hamburg, he met christopher rau, who blew away the whole smallville crew with his > ne travaillez jamais< on dérive records in 2008 and had his smallville debut with >childhood< on smallville 16. the youngsters teamed up as bon & rau and we are proud to present the 12inch debut of another smallville dreamteam. cloverleaf days was already presented on the smallvilles label compilation cd -and suddenly its morning-, that gained huge reputation last year- but it more than deserved an appearance on 12inch now. a reduced groove that takes you to somewhere unsearchable. the b-side presents two versions of brothers & sisters- a modern house-anthem that twists into your ears with a subtle melody. the poodle dub on b2 rounds up a perfect 12inch with a tribute to hamburgs finest golden pudel club. three tracks that can definitely make the moment on the dancefloor.

mauro picotto returns to spread more of his own brand of italian-alchemy amour! after the fantastic success of >diamond<, picotto returns with his end of summer anthem >love message<. with the success of his meganite ibiza parties still fresh, mauro drops his latest dancefloor gem. the don of melodic techno takes a softer, yet no less powerful route on >love message<. housey beats, and euphoric synth line make the original a sure fire, hands in the air number.
on remix duty and in keeping with his trend of mighty mix packages, the label head has drafted two of the hottest talents of today. first up is belgium producer and great stuff artist ramon tapia, who turns in not one, but two takes on the original. his >first message< is a low-slung tech groove machine, that chops the originals synths and stabs them throughout. his >second message<ups the pace with its rolling bassline and white noise breaks, again the cut-up synth stabs feature.

2009 is quite obviously sven tasnadis year, having already released five eps this year on cream-of-the-crop labels like pokerflat, ornaments and liebe*detail. each ep revealed a new facet of the leipziger, riding the nuances between the 4/4 beat. after his ep >down under influence< with juno6 in spring 2009, tasnadi now dishes up his new solo ep on cargo edition. >what we do< is a classic housetrack - very deep and peppered with vocal shots that hold the tension of the track over its whole length. it s smooth, yet deliciously rough around the edges. >amour fou< on the b-side surprises with a very compact rhythm - around the driving bass drum fly percussive elements, all tied together by a reduced bassline, some interspersed vocal samples and deep chords.
