his single comes to people that make the music records from one of house musics most eminent production teams: first ibiza lady alla farmer, mateo & matos and ukrainian singer and producer vincent inc, chris gray from deep4life, jazzy house veteran john crockett and uplifting deep king brendan mccarthy aka aquatherium. though not stereo-typically their style, this set of tunes give good credence to their soft house music production ability. they set the scene for sounds entering as a funky bassline, squealy guitar riff, and classic 4/4 drum loop. john remix consist mainly of dubby bubbly conga rhythms, cosmic chords, floaty synths, musical saw tones and a nice rubbery bassline. aquatherium remix is pure non-intrusive, house music that is great for the sunset beach session or even the roller disco! chris & alla made eclectique deep house which is just a dope! the remixed single tracks have been mixed together to give it a beefy blend that would be perfect for the floor of many poorly lit dance dwellings. people that make the music has stepped forward with a brilliant ep of insatiable grooves.

last year put leeds-based producer midlands (aka harry agius) name on the map with his successful collaboration with hessle audios ramadanman, >your words matter< on aus music. this year, aus label chief will saul has invited midland back to take a solo swing. its an excursion that explores the boundaries of 2-step, uk garage and techno and consists of two original tracks. on the a side >through motion< shows midlands ability to seamlessly take the spirit of uk garage and fuse it with techno. the tracks moody piano melody is punctured by a dark, pitch-shifted vocal and encircled by the warm atmospherics that have become his trademark. on the flip side is >shelter<, a brooding and cavernous affair whose vocals and whispery atmospherics make this the perfect late night tool.

in the impressive flow of new talent in 2011 on fokuz recordings we already had the pleasure to present the sound of brother, command strange and intelligent manners among others. the next flavour of the funky liquid melting pot called fokuz recordings goes by the name donnie dubson. berlin based irishman donnie o sullivan aka donnie dubson started releasing his funky rollers on have a break and influenza media and already featured on fokuz on the chronicles of the deep lp together with stunna back in 2007. the grapefruit / battlecat release on influenza media in 2009 got him a lot of attention and is still heard in dj sets today. now its 2011 and fokuz presents the beautiful debut album of donnie dubson! his sound can be described as refreshing and original liquid drum n bass with a touch of the well known atmospheric drum n bass vibes from the mid 0s. his basslines are the unique sellingpoint as well as his ability to create an organic feel in the music thats only done by the few who truly understand what liquid drum n bass is all about. pleasuring both critical listeners and the dancefloor audience this album is a perfect overview of the sound fokuz stands for. a great example of how music can be time-less in this decade of fast moving consumer goods.

somewhat of a metaphor for britain, welcome to goon island is born from the great british art school tradition, the core of the band having met at art college in sothend, vivid, interesting, expansive and far-reaching, an aesthetic that seeps into everything they do from their other-worldly videos via intriguing photos to extra curricular activities such as training dogs to dance. yet such apparent frippery shouldn t disguise their uncanny ability to pen rather fine songs, as welcome to goon island attests.

breakin bread continue to support the specialist soul and funk scene with a release from edenheight. they are not a new band, these guys have been gigging hard all over bristol and the south west, but it is their debut vinyl release. its not just another new funk offering, the band have a tightness from all the gigs and 2 superb female vocalists that make these tracks stand out from the pack.
edenheight are a deep-groovin and original outfit with a soulful urban sound. forged in bristol, their list of influences favour more percussive styles including afro, funk, hip hop + dub, and as such dance-ability is a precedent. this standard owes as much to an evolution in the citys underground live scene as to their appreciation of high energy musicianship and production.

seuil makes a storming entrance into the offbeat world of supplement facts with his >ultravision< ep. his immaculate track record for house music that pierces the soul with its energy and drama remaining firmly in tact with yet another dream collaboration with dop vocalist jaw. parisian seuil has fast become a pillar of the deep house and techno community. the innate organic quality that courses through his productions is allied with an ever-evolving style, always rich in substance, drive and atmosphere. >ultravision< is no exception. the mesmeric progression of liquefied bleeps, deep chords, and truncated rhythms is heightened by the poignant, husky drawl of jaw that bleeds through this enveloping track. the >dub mix< allows the bubbling percussive energy to shine through in a dubbed out, darkly populated soundscape. on the flip >in the moon< is a moody tech masterpiece of floating grooves and creepy fx. breathy vocal snippets intercept with notions of mortality as seuil traverses rusty sonic terrains and upholds his ability to feed both the soul and the feet. even when stripped back to its barest bones >in the moon< captivates with a driving energy punctuated by crisply formulated drums and a sparse bass line bounce...

berliner martin dawson and polish duo catz n dogz join forces to bring us this fierce three track ep entitled no nights. the first track on this release is no nights. brimming with warm pads and an accusing, dark lo-fi synth line this version has a deep vibe to it and the ability to really get under ones skin. following this the berlin-polish team hit us with no nights (beatz mix) a catchy tech-house number with a lo-fi synth line sporadically accompanied by a melodically decending dubby synth. combined with the crisp vocal line this makes for a very promising track. no days, the last track on this release gets straight to business with distorted vocals and a menacing bassline that intertwine throughout the track. varying rhythmical flourishes keep it interesting, while tripped out synthesized sounds guarantee to get any dancefloor grooving. we couldnt be more pleased with the results of this tenacious trio and we look to the future in hope that they are already planning further collaborations.

normal service is resumed on nu directions, returning to 170bpm with an offering from some of the drum & bass scenes most forward-thinking producers, triad. triad is the name given to german duo henree and basstikal. both established producers in their own right, their meeting of minds has given their productions new depth and a totally original approach to drum & bass. releases on dsm, critical and horizons, plus their excellent remix of omars >lay it down<, have laid the foundations for what is to be a fruitful 2011 for this collaborative project. >crooked< is a shuffling minimal work-out which uses dense atmospheres and growling bass stabs to create a haunting mood, before breaking into its techno fuelled, energy soaked finale. >the puzzle< again captures triads unique ability to create musical soundscapes. with light snappy beats and deep stirring synths creating a track that sounds as fresh today as it will in 10 years time, future music.
