dead fader returns with new ep sun copter, which precedes a forthcoming full length album. *sun copter* introduces a new sound as dead fader s pallet gains new range and depths, using analogue technologies in conjunction with the digital techniques he is well known for. dead fader is the alter ego of john cohen, former brighton resident, now in berlin, who has worked relentlessly since 2007 to realise his vision of electronic music. his tracks are characterised by pioneering sound explorations, which on one hand oscillate between sonic extremities and on the other hand carefully craft cinema-scope sound worlds. the vinyl release includes a downloadcode.

stix records is a sub-division of favorite recordings, recently launched with a first official single by taggy matcher birdy & nixon (stix033), who pleased us with two reggae-rocksteady renditions of the famous black keys. precisely specialized in the exercise of producing covers with a reggae twist, the new label presents his first album entitled *disco reggae*. many artists faithful to the stable of favorite recordings and its various sub-labels are invited for the occasion: the dynamics, blundetto, grandmagneto, 7 samurai, john milk or taggy matcher. all came and brought their respective touch to this first compilation, with among other things some of the rarest titles from their big single records’ years, but also 4 new and exclusive productions. each of them delivers a great disco-reggae version of classic hits by some artists as diverse as madonna, herbie hancock, justin timberlake, the commodores, the o jays, curtis mayfield, harry nilsson or sugarhill gang. whatever the genre or the period, nothing can resist their inventiveness and creativity, to the point sometimes we confuse between originals and covers. everything is remastered and cut at carvery records (uk), known for their expertise in caribbean and disco music. the vinyl lp comes in a deluxe version, housed in an old-school tip-on jacket.

theyre young and tough, and especially wonderful too, easily one of the most compelling harmony soul groups to ever hail from the windy city! the sets a chicago soul gem from the early 70s, recorded with a laidback, slightly tripped-out vibe thats different than the tighter styles of other groups from the same scene, definitely righteous at points, with some of the superbad modes you might hear from an east coast lineup like the delfonics or soul generation, especially when they were trying to get a bit more conscious in their message. arrangements are great – handled by tom tom washington, eugene record, and cliff davis, very much at the best brunswick mode, but again with a deeper sort of vibe too. the title cuts a monster, and a very fitting follow-up to their earlier sly, slick, & wicked track – and the album features 2 versions (vocal and instrumental) of a cut called this is the lost generation, a very righteous soul groove with a heavy production tip.

new x-masters! after the massive nicholas/morning factory release its finn gold with the 2nd x-masters. finn gold resisted his routines and started working on some other music... opening track is a briliant cover version of the classic atmosphere. pretty bold to cover such a classic, but finn gold nailed it! flip side gives 2 other excellent 90s inspired tracks for the body and soul. pretty amazing release!! recommended.

mysterious hardware tinkerer stephan stl laubner is back with a 3 track + locked groove ep on the london based imprint mutual friend recordings entitled listen up! mind puzzlin is exactly that with a luscious lead line that will twist your head accomponied by stls signature rough and overdriven percussion. smile function has a more ominous tone with repeated guitar plucks that plant themselves into your consciousness. stl builds the groove expertly whilst retaining an other-worldly feel to the track. wrong is a real groover with a growling bassline accomponied by weird and wonderful interwoven patterns coaxed out of stls synths. the locked groove, titled listen up! loop is a nice bonus for the more adventurous dj out there.

keeping the momentum going seems fairly easy for barac as he unveils the long awaited second ep on his moment imprint. last years have seen barac evolve in a very lucrative way, yet only his best productions seem to be making their way top. it is clearly the case for this second ep which features two of his solo masterpieces. moment of clarity is electronic poetry at its best. barac delivers the proverbial summer sunrise directly into your speakers and ultimately into your heart. this track is meant to never be forgotten. without changing the soundscape too much barac has a slightly different approach on side b. things get a little more serious with sun & following being driven by a catchy bass and a haunting atmosphere. this tune is as bomb in the night as the other one is in the daylight.

500 only, tresor records is fortunate enough to be sitting on a catalogue of past releases that no other label in electronic music would turn down. three of the finest in this collection were albums contributed by surgeon, * basictonalvocabulary*, * balance* and * force + form* all originally came out on the berlin institution between 1997 and 1999. surgeons inimitable combination of detroit techno and post-industrial sounds emanating from his british homeland found its fullest expression in these masterful trio of releases on tresor. the balance remakes 12” accompanied surgeons second tresor album in 1998, with additional versions as well as a remix by long-time birmingham collaborator mick harris.

deep dark industrial ambient. a slowly evolving soundscape with boiling buzzing sounds, resonating through the dark world.the berserk was perhaps one of the world s best fighters, which in old norse time sworn allegiance to the norse god odin. before a battle berserkers excited each other up and occurred in bearskin or wolf skin, hence the word berserk. in the beginning of the battle they performed exceptionally talented, indifferent battlers, but in close combat they fell into berserk. then they howled like wild beasts, probably to frighten the enemy and incite their comrades and themselves, and then get into rages. a berserk in battle were said not to bother about any injuries, and was therefore until the enemy, or they died.

killer release on uncanny valley related shtum label. their latest offering is none other than avalon emerson, who hits hard with her first appearance on the dresden-based label with a record full of techno beauties.

after landing his malfunctioning px-4000 on the purple planet, captain dmx steps out of the smoldering cockpit. after barely setting foot on the dusty landscape, the captain is startled by deep thudding from over the hills. dragging his oxygen pack with one hand and his atomizer with the other, he sets off in search of the other-wordly din. over the hill his pupils adjust to the stroboscopic lightning and below him lies a sea of strange creatures moving together as one body. a cosmic sermon takes place under the three suns in the sky, mechanical and stuttered frequencies set a manic pace and drive the dark creatures back and forth. captain dmx sighs a heavy breath and starts to descend into the fray.

this young producer from belgium made himself a name with techno and house releases on teknotika, reload and freelectronics. here he offers some deep and funky tracks between house and tech-house that refers to act like freaks and other classic artists.

we were very excited indeed to see the third release from the quite promising love notes from brooklyn imprint! marco zenin was a featured artist on the last release under his dj octopus guise, and this time he s featured again with his other project, the more techy/ more minimal die roh, who recently had an underground athem with their release on black venison. the duo here seemingly lean their sounds in the direction of the label s and offer two-cut ep which is their deepest effort yet to date. surely more djs will play the dancier a side, behind 6000, but for us, the groovier b side and title track genghis kahn is the choice cut. label owner, nathaniel jay, continues in the precendent he s set with each release having its own unique love note,authored by him, making every one of these records collectable.

colorhadoo makes his amphia debut with two enticing tracks while cristi cons delivers the house s remix. on the a side we are presented with * j strawbberry*, an atmospheric track which slowly slips away into a mind-bending realm, where broken voices come and go under different shapes and the listener is engaged by occasional eclectic explosions. a beautiful work and trouble waiting to happen when properly used. side b has cristi cons taking the interpretation duties of the main track. the remix keeps the general mood of the original with a twist, everything is wrapped around a tight groove with shattering low end work, ideal for those early mornings. we continue with * zanzibar*. this second track on side b takes the artistic vision into reverse. no more voices to be heard, huge spaces are reduced to just a solid groove. the track is guided by hypnotic pads and sounds while the emblematic percussion section is conducted by none other than colorhadoo himself. dont listen to this in the dark!

i first heard of julixo when i put my hands on his fantastic ep called silas released on rauh 005. after that, i kept a close eye on the sounds he was posting, and when i heard rebho, i knew we were going to do something together. the warm synth line, together with the jackin drum patterns, were perfect. then came reflections, which fitted superbly with rebho. although slower, and maybe more introspective, you still have that warm feeling going through the track. we decided to go with life of crime on the other side of the record. much more aggressive in its construction, that track deserved a side on its own: modern techno at its best. i hope you will enjoy this nice versatile release as much as i do! best regards, philippe petit

la.-based producer/composer/dj matt lange delivers a darkly melodic breed of electronic music rooted in raw energy and emotion. hand-selected by deadmau5 as one of the latest signings to his label mau5trap, the lifelong musician now makes his full-length debut with the groove-heavy, intricately textured ephemera. as his first album release for mau5trap, ephemeras title reflects the restless innovation inherent in lange s musicianship. the albums really a snapshot of where i am right now as an artist, lange explains. it s this turning point where i have one foot in the world of dance music, and the other foot in a whole different direction.

this 12inch is pure trance. who is/are rita furstenhof? we have no idea who she/he/they are. the a1 track, the mighty -hadron collider- was sent to optimo music hq about 18 months ago. normally sending one track is not much use to a label, but this was so good that we instantly replied to say we wanted to release it. rita furstenhof works in mysterious ways, and it was 18 months until the other tracks for the ep arrived. along the way there were a few times when we thought they had completely vanished, and we were never going to have a complete ep, but finally, here it is.

180gr vinyl, download code & poster ! from a festival to a feature to friendship, from techno to electronica to a band. in this manner towards twitter compatibility, one may describe eating snow s previous path, which has really just begun for douglas greed and mooryc, with only few characters. the two of them met in 2010 at a festival in poland, only shortly afterwards the joint tracks -pain- and -morning gloria- developed, which can be listened to on douglas greed s debut album krl. however, dougi and mooryc weren t just in tune with each other quickly, they also automatically arrived at a common sound despite their different musical roots, which ranges from sensual indietronica to powerful house right up to perfectly grooving pop moments.

james ross is a guitarist and composer living in brooklyn, n.y. originally from pittsburgh, pa., he has studied guitar at the university of pittsburgh and the mannes college of music in new york city. he has studied sitar with pandit krishna bhatt, and north indian classical music and composition with la monte young and marian zazeela. a composer in a variety of genres, james has written music for orchestral and chamber ensembles, as well as solo music for the guitar and the zhongruan (a type of chinese lute). he has also performed and recorded electronic and improvised music. recent performances as a composer and performer on the electric guitar, laptop and other instruments include sets at the bell house, at the small beast at the delancey with percussionist joseph benzola, a performance with kyle bobby dunn at issue project room, at pianos with richard lainhart, at glasslands gallery with michael vincent waller, at goodbye blue monday with david beardsley, providing live music for katherine liberovskaya and ursula scherrer’s optosonic tea series at diapason gallery in brooklyn, with video artist alex carpenter at the tank in manhattan, and at damrosch park at lincoln center as part of the guitar ensemble for rhys chatham’s “a crimson grail.” a recording of the -crimson grail- performance was released on nonesuch records on sept. 14, 2010. as a classical guitarist, james has performed as a soloist and ensemble player throughout the northeastern united states. he received a solo recitalist fellowship in 1992 from the pennsylvania council on the arts and won the 1993 mannes college of music concerto competition, resulting in a performance of joaquin rodrigo’s “fantasia para gentilhombre,” at symphony space in new york city.

jah cure is one of the most influential reggae acts today, with hits in the real roots and caribbean pop formats. known for his iconic hooks and street-poet verses, his songs contrast gritty tales of urban struggle with sun-kissed romantic ballads. in the tradition of jamaican reggae, his stories bridge social commentary with uplifting hopefulness. there is playful spirit to his music that has endured the real life challenges of prison, probation and redemption. *the cure* is his seventh album and the fourth for vp records and presents the thoughts, feelings and contradictions of a true reggae artist. anticipation for the album is especially strong in jah cures touring markets where and in support of the release he will tour europe and south america in the summer of 2015. a music video for *made in california* will be serviced to terrestrial and online media outlets to support the album launch internationally.

since 2010, jackie house aka jacob sperber has been driving the a&r side of the san francisco dance-music troupe running the hnytrx label and producing remixes with other members under the honey name. putting label duties on hold in 2013 sperber cocooned into his music studio, entering as a brave brunette and exiting as an ambitious blonde. * stydive * is jackie s debut to wax and has as much house-party in it as it does warehouse 4am. with a vocal sample nod to punk s past, * stydive* pogo dances to dusty and stuttering live/analog drum rhythms and skips along a rude and infectious bass-line. bound to find lovers of all persuasions for its dub-esque qualities, instantly recognizable hook, and open relationship with house music, this tune begged to have it s own side. that said, there is always room for some matrixxman who takes stydive to a strobe lit south of market darkroom in his remix on the b. spurting erotic lazers around a cavernous kick, this tune finishes off even the most experienced edger.
