opening up with the deep space atmospherics of quiet life the album immediately transports you to another world. the title track is then a melodically lush and uplifting affair with curious synth patterns ebbing and flowing beneath crisp percussion. tracks like we search for answers combine organic, wooden textures with more synthetic and trippy synth sounds that are as far away from your standard sample packs as can be imagined. across the course of the album there are dark, moody and emotive pieces like worship (previously released in extended form on the mdl02 single) featuring qzen who reads a poem by patience agbabi in tantalising fashion as well as heavyweight, dubbed out techno groovers like shadow theory. make it true (of which seth troxler will be releasing an extended edit on his play it say it label, complete with high profile remixes) is another great collab featuring the vocals of jojo de freq, and the track itself is a harmonious, radiant house jam that is humid and human in equal measure. the otherworldly, snaking feel free again showcases berkson & what s ability to coax alluring emotions out of their machines and closer logan five wraps things up in suitably spangled, textural fashion. despite the fact much of this album will work on a dancefloor in the hands of the right dj, there s an invention and musicality to it that renders the whole thing hugely listenable away from the club. a testament to berkson & what s analogue invention and fluid ideas, keep up appearances really is a master electronic oeuvre.

today gregor returns home with two slamming new tracks, both of which are the result of hours of tweaking and testing whilst on the road this summer. midas is built around a stripped back single-riff groove. minimal elements and maximum effect show that gregor still has that midas touch. on the flip and easily living up to its name is disturber. its snarling synth takes centre stage, intimidating and unsettling. but as the kick drum thumps and the intensity builds, disturber suddenly returns to the dark shadows.

x-press 2 are gearing up for an exciting 2015 with a formidable string of releases due on skint, and further high profile labels. but before they enter a new chapter we offer a set of un-released dance floor driven productions that wrap up the duos last few years of works and set of single/eps that saw release on the skint catalogue. this is mmxv.

at the tail end of the 90s, gregory darsa played around with a number of pseudonyms before finally settling on his now familiar dj gregory alias. one of those abandoned aliases was headcore. it was used for a single ep back in 1998, released on chateau flight s label, versatile (then in it s infancy). here, that ep gets a welcome reissue. it s aged rather well, with all four tracks - explorations of deep house themes with occasional nods to the dubby, african-influenced style darsa would later explore on the africanism project - sounding as fresh now as they did 16 years ago. picking highlights is tricky, but we re particularly enjoyed the sparse, swinging dub-house of -cage- (accompanied with a tasty drum dub) and the chez damier-influenced chug of -in & out

radio bands radio rap the one and only single by a group of djs from the radio fantasy pirate station has long been an in-demand gem with italo-disco diggers and balearic heads alike. with original copies both hard to find and expensive (currently hovering around the l60 mark online), it s great to see archeo recordings giving the 1984 cut a much-needed reissue on heavyweight vinyl. the quirky vocal version a loose and funky disco-rap record with additional boogie synths and all italian vocals is accompanied by the superb instrumental version, which perfectly showcases danilo ciarchi s superb production.

dj spider & franklin de costa come along with a massive follow-up of their first single on killekill (cat number 016). second bass on the a-side is a bomb of a track with its jazzy beats, otherworldly strings and a bassline straight out of hell. comsume is even more otherworldly with its stumbling, shuffling beat and a spaced-out vocal sample taken from an unnamed sci-fi movies from the 50s. coffee break, the last track of the ep, is a deadlock groove of heavy beats and freaky breaks, that leaves you lost in time and space.

the third 12 inch sampler taken from lukes unfinished business compilation series, this time featuring a lost dub of the nails classic hurt u featured as part of the kittens single back in the year 2000. nail is enjoying a fantastic and deserved renaissance at the moment and will felt it was high time let this baby loose. this is followed by another lost gem from the wonderful tak label. the last unfinished business compilation featured the timedwellers and now it’s time for collis king, look out for some unreleased gems to be featured on an ep from classic later this year. number 3 is the tripped out vocal classic from sandee - given some modern day remastering business a record that has proven to be totally timeless - and a stalwart at luke and kenny hawkes legendary space nights at bar rumba. and finally - lukes very own stop the riot - the first single he recorded with sam lynham from gramme championed by the likes of skream on radio one and nemone on 6 music - we felt the single deserved its very own place on vinyl.

limited hand stamped 7 inch, we can t remember the last time we came across a 7- single of straight-up deep house. certainly, it s a novelty, though there s little novel or cheeky about the two tracks showcased on this diddy, coloured vinyl release from spain s minuendo label. 2deepsoul s a-side, -home-, is effortlessly melodious - a warm, rich and enticing blend of shuffling rhythms, swirling chords and the kind of blissfully electronic melodies that make you want to dance with your eyes shut. there s a more organic and quietly soulful feel about owen jay and melchior sultana s flipside effort, -deserted-. blessed with a delicious double bass line, bespoke keys and a whisper of motor city techno (in terms of the electronics, at least), it s a sublime chunk of sensual deepness.

legworks 2nd single comes from another one of our texas compatriates, the indelible brett johnson, fresh off some amazing work on classic, get physical, rawax and other killer imprints. the mission harks back to some of our favourite dub-techno moments, but keeps its own flare with bretts signature robo-rhythms and chopped and screwed vocal cuts. on the remix tip, its label head lance desardi & convextion bringing their own flavour to the table respectively, with lance stepping to the chord memory, deep bass, and over sampled drums, and convextion going all the way out into hyper space with his usual sub-aquatic space funk.

adam beyer has been showing us the extent of his versatility for years and this ep solidly cements the idea that beyer can confidently swing between genres and keep up his consistently high standards within electronic music. youre the same is a remarkable piece of work and keeps the tech house bods moving and shaking. all the tracks on this three-part stunner are chunky, solid grooves, that are infused with dashes of techno, house and dub. vocal snippets are used to create some spine tingling hooks as well as moody pads to create eerie atmospheres. valium & lfos has already built up quite a following courtesy of its inclusion in beyers landmark amnesia terrace set for cocoon that was later broadcast as part of his drumcode live radio show. it has also been a mainstay in richie hawtins sets along with other accomplished djs including the likes of joseph capriati. a well accomplished single from the swede.

* take me baby * wurde ein großer hit in europa als warp records den titel 1996 lizenzierte und als single veröffentlichte. hier haben wir 3 versionen des titels die alle in der selben session in jimis haus im union avenue nyc im sommer 1993 aufgenommen wurde. die original version erschien zuerst auf tenors debüt-album > sähkömies< auf sähkö recordings im jahr 1994, die zwei weiteren bisher unveröffentlichten versionen wurden vor kurzem auf dem original-session band gefunden und werden nun zum ersten mal veröffentlicht.

the mighty bohari return with another in their split-single series, showcasing new and exciting artists. we have no idea who barrut fulsara is and he wont tell us a thing - all we know is that he has been in the game for a long time, and that this new moniker is for his excursions into deeper territory. were just happy he chose bokhari as the outlet. joe europe on the flip delivers the kind of synth-laden quirky house that we love at bokhari and were pleased for this beautiful track to finally see the light of day.
